    Good Guy Seller List

azsugarbear is good to go, very easy to deal with member and didn't try and screw you around. Very honest and straight forward. I purchased a Swaroski spotting scope from him and he even brought a tripod for me to check it out so it was a more realistic experience.

Thanks, I appreciate you stopping by the house. Likewise, it was a pleasure meeting you as well. Max & Missy were thrilled to have another set of hands to pet them.

    Hunting with Suppressors

That makes some sense, sadly. Ya know the 3 day thing isn't correct, FBI has to get back to the dealer in 5 business days on a transfer if it's in a delayed status. They need to give the approve or deny response within that timeframe, after the 5 days it's an automatic proceed as outlined in the portion of the brady bill that's still in effect today. As a dealer if we get a delayed status we are given the NTN number (tracking number for the check), the agent who was doing the deeper backround check, and a brady transfer date. I'm a FFL.
  7. Can't believe no one mentioned the griuad trimmer. It's by far the best trimmer I've ever used, and i've used quite a few of them. www.giraudtool.com

That kiosk is awesome, it does so much for the consumer it’s amazing. The downside with the kiosk is on the dealer side, the cost of it is substantial unless you’re a silencershop premiere dealer (or whatever that too teir level is that they have). If you don’t do enough transfers from them and or aren’t powered by silencer shop or something the kiosk is about $10k or so. Dealers who are “powered by silencershop” have to agree in a contract that they can’t charge a transfer fee for the suppressor that comes in from them, on the backside the dealer gets a check from them for 50 bucks I think. So ya you don’t pay for a transfer Per say, but also as an educated consumer you should always weigh price options when making a purchase. If a dealer had it for 200 less than silencershop I’d go there and pay the NFA transfer fee. silencershop has some awesome prices at times and other times their prices aren’t so great.

The hoops aren’t bad at all, I don’t even really consider them hoops. Costco for the passport photos is the cheapest in town that I’ve found, fingerprints aren’t hard either. I’ve got a large list of places that do them.

    Hunting with Suppressors

I can’t say that I can do XXX discount on anything because profit margins are between sucky to crap to literally losing money on firearms. Some product lines have very strict minimum pricing policies like sig, glock etc, while others like ruger do not have a map price. In the current market more so in NFA (suppressors) some places have amazing deals on cans, sometimes better than my cost on them in the first place. Capitol armory comes to mind with someone who sells cans at good prices and sometimes is right at or close to cost, but you’ll have to pay for the transfer at the dealer like you would any firearm but NFA items are a bit more money. If you find a can you like feel free to shoot me a PM and I’ll check on the cost of it for you. I also search online as well to see what others are selling it for. If it’s only a couple bucks more I’ll tell you to get it from there and save the sales tax which I have to charge you. A great example of the lack of profit in firearms is a ruger 10/22. I don’t recall the sku off the top of my head for this model as it was a couple months ago I did a price shop on it. It was a basic synthetic 10/22 that you could buy at sportsman’s or wherever for about 229-239 or so. My cost on it was 224.90 before shipping. For $5 more I’d tell you to go to sportsman’s or wherever and get it right now as opposed to me ordering it. Another example is last year a dealer in Vegas had a blowout sale on some surefre Ryder 22A suppressors, they were selling them for $199 and free shipping. I went to check out my cost on them, it was $209 at sports south (wholesaler).

I beleieve you on the recoil aspect and such, sadly I also beleieve you on when they “cashed the check / charged the card”. What I find hard to beleieve is that it took 6 months to go to fbi for backround check, that’s extremly odd. They are usually off to fbi within 45-60 days +/-. I have a customer who had gotten me to do a few transfers for him and he has an item In NFA jail with me, his item went pending like nov 20 last year. As of a couple weeks ago it’s still pending backround check with fbi. The transfers he’s done with me he’s always been delayed and hit the Brady date, if you fall into the “always delayed” category the fbi check will sadly take longer. Last year the states average time for a NFA transfer on a form 4 was about 9-10 months, being that it was charged on dec 10 it might be mid month to end of the month. You can call the NFA branch and give them the serial to get a status of the form 4. Once it’s approved it takes about 7-14 days for the dealer to get the stamp.

Get a titanium can man, or better yet a SICO harvester. You hardly notice the weight, it's 11 flipping ounces, that's NOTHING at the end of the day. My GF has a harvester for her rifles, cause as with most girls they're "weight sensitive" when it comes to this stuff. For me I'm ok with some added weight.

    Hunting with Suppressors

We'll I gotta chime in on this one. In full disclosure I'm a FFL 07/02, basically that means I'm a Licensed Firearms Dealer with a SOT Endorsement (which is I can make, buy and sell NFA items such as suppressors), because of my license I also don't have to pay the $200 NFA tax per item, but I have to pay $500 a year to ATF for that license. That having been said, i'll move on. Oh and worth mentioning, if you were hunting with me and had a can with me and my company "in NFA dealer jail" I would bring the can with me and you could use it while you're hunting and such as I am the FFL owner, I'm allowed to do this without issues, and ultimately I am in possession of the item. After were done hunting I would take it back to the house and put it behind bars again. If you didn't have a can in my jailcell chances are I'd bring a can from MY personal inventory for you to use while were hunting then naturally take it back with me. During the hunt you would be talking to me about buying a can once you experienced shooting with them for the first time in the woods. Suppressors weren't always legal here in AZ to hunt with until March 29, 2012 when HB 2728 was signed into law by Brewer. Since then a whole new world has been opened up for us hunters allowing the use of suppressors for hunting. For a few years after the law passed I didn't really even think of hunting with a can even though I had a couple, one time i went hunting yotes and grabbed a different rifle than I had intended which had a can on it, I didn't regret it best mistake I ever made. PRO's & CON's: PRO: Saves your hearing by reducing the noise of the gun when fired Doesn't scare game as much as a non suppressed weapon, I've found that game sometimes doesn't move or just get's a tad alert but not like a normal non suppressed gun would Reduces felt recoil by delaying the gas's exit from the barrel Add's a really cool factor when hunting with hunting buddies The Suppressor market is hurting for customers, there are some crazy awesome deals out there right now, example the silencerco deal that ended on 7/31 where you bought a can and got a can free. I have to admit even as a FFL I even went a bit overboard and bought 3 more cans for my collection getting 3 for free. LOL! Groupings tend to be a bit tighter because recoil is less for the shooter Did I mention the really cool factor CON'S: Using a DI type system (typical AR platform type gas system) you will need an adjustable gas block to be installed or else you will likely get excessive gas blowback. If you are going to use the can on that rifle a couple times a year don't sweat it, but if you are going to use it more often than say 40% or so spend the cash and have one installed or install one. Can's will cause a change in the POI of the weapon, that change is generally repeatable from time to time. Some companies will boast that it won't cause a POI shift, I laugh my A$$ off when I hear that. Reality is ALL can's will cause a POI shift, some are just better than others when it comes down to it and it does vary gun to gun / caliber to caliber too. EX: My Sig SRD762TI-QD has various POI's between calibers and elevations. rem 700, .308 is 1.2" down, .5" right savage 300 win is 1.9 down, .7 left Weatherby Mark V RC .257 WBY is 2.8" down, 1.4 left My results here are repeatable so I can always count on it to be the same when putting it on and taking it off $200 one time tax stamp kinda sucks on top of the cost of the can 6-9 month wait till you can enjoy the silence sucks even more, sadly nothing you can do about that. Times are getting shorter across the board for the most part, but some of them are still longer waits. The length of the delay is normally because the FBI background check is taking some time to come back, longer than average. Can's are ADDICTING! It's an extremely slippery slope once you get one of them, you WILL and I repeat YOU WILL buy more of them once you get your first one. Other people can add pro's and con's here I'm sure, but one thing IS for sure... It's ADDICTING! You've been warned.

    Kaibab Lion Guides

I agree that later in the year is the best for lions up there, pretty much any predator later in the year is far better for any hide. If you got snow on the ground when you're hunting up there for them it's even better cause you will see the tracks. I'd surely be interested in this as well, a lion is on my hunting bucket list here in AZ. I'm just kinda put off by the amount the guides charge for it from what I have seen. I've seen them called in before but it's usually a biproduct of hunting for yotes or foxes / bobcats. I heard a lion screaming like it was being slaughtered about 230am last year in the bab about 1/4 mile down the canyon behind my camp when I was hunting for the grey ghost. That beast woke me up from a dead sleep and I went outside right away with my gun and a huge light (seriously I was only wearing my undee's and that's it, i froze my nuts off for the brief few minutes I was out there) trying to see if it was right behind my trailer or kinda close by. I saw it down the canyon and it bolted when it got hit with the light.
  15. Howdy, I got a leftover tag for turkey in the bab starting Oct 5. as we know turkey up there are like shooting fish in a barrel, I don't want to count my egg's before they hatch but i'm reasonably confident in tagging a turkey up there. I'm going to hunt some squirrel and grouse while I'm up there, I have little desire to purposely hunt chukkar but if i see one I will shoot it. I haven't seen too much info out there in regards to what kind of terrain to hunt grouse in, but based on some limited knowledge I believe that I'm going to want to hunt the pine's for them. We know the bab east and west is a pretty big area so i'd like to narrow it down just a bit to focus on some select area's. I have heard a few things from people that said they have seen them over by the park boundaries, but the people I talked to really don't know as that's not their focus when they are in the bab. Do you have any tips on where to look and or area's to look at for grouse? Is anyone else going up there for turkey and doesn't have a partner to hunt with, i'm going to possibly be solo for the weekend.
  16. Thanks, yea i was pretty much thinking the same thing for the grouse based on AZGFD. I have heard from Dwayne Adams that the tanks in the bab are pretty much overflowing this year which is a great thing, so water will be plentiful that's for sure. As he focus's his hunts on deer I figured he might have run across a few grouse in his time up there, but talking to him he can't really remember seeing any substantial numbers of them. When I hunted east last year for the grey ghost I never ran across any of them, but i was also in the burn area and north of that never having ventured south of the burn / FR241. I also don't think i ever really went over 8,000', maybe a small bit but never substantial as the burn is a bit higher in elevation compared to the northern side of the unit. I know the southern part by the canyon goes up a bit beyond 9,000 so I think I'm going to focus down that way which is right in the area around Crystal Springs (but i don't see sourdough well on google maps, frankly don't expect them to list everything but I'll refer to my trusty flatline map of 12AE). I'm sure I'm going to be doing quite a bit of walking to find these elusive critters.

    12 AE Mule Deer Oct 27-Nov 5. Who's going?

thanks for the responses everyone, i will see ya'll up there later this week. be safe and good luck on the hunt to everyone going up!!
  19. Who is headed up to the bab for the early rifle deer hunt? My friend who was going to be hunting with me isn't able to make it as his wife badly fractured her ankle and likely is having surgery the day before opening day. From the looks of it I'm going to be hunting sometimes with a friend from Utah who's going to come down, and possibly my GF's brother who might be able to fly in to assist for a couple days, other times it's gonna be solo. If you are headed up there solo or in a very small group send me a PM if you are interested in working as a team so we can all have a solid chance at harvesting a great mature buck, and we can help each other pull that brute out of whatever deep and dark abyss or across a wicked canyon. I'm good with hunting solo, but hunting in a group is sometimes easier so I thought I would toss it out here.

    12 AE Mule Deer Oct 27-Nov 5. Who's going?

Notags Im on board with ya there, I need to disconnect from the world. Stupid people are making me crazy!!! Id love to hunt grouse but dont know a thing about hunting them here in az, Ive only hunted them in northern states. Im actuallt excited that their is no cell more than 1/2 mile away from Jacobs lake. Lol. No cell means no one can piss me off, and oh I wont get those weve noticed your business isnt listed on google calls. FML! Squirrel I only hunted once, skinning them was too much work for the teaspoon snack of meat you get off them for me. Id love to actually have one of these kaibab squirrels mounted, theyre so good looking and truly unique! Ill send you a pm.

    12 AE Mule Deer Oct 27-Nov 5. Who's going?

I agree, it's an experience not just a hunt. I'm not looking to drop the first deer that goes across my crosshair's, i'm looking to get a quality mature buck but as things progress i will get a bit less picky. No reason to rush a kaibab mule deer hunt, i got the whole hunt to find a quality buck

    What color cerakote?

depending on your goal for the rifle you could do a few different colors. With that stock color I would possibly consider going with a lighter forest green, FDE or a milk chocolate brown color. If you wanted to contrast the carbon fiber pattern in the stock you could go with a tungeston type color on the action, or even do a distressed tungeston / black, fde / black type look on the rifle action / barrel. since it's a defiance action those things are cut TIGHT! Did you order it from Defiance with "paint tolerances", which is where they actually cut the bolt 0.002" thinner so the coating won't wear off quickly and you have issues with the bolt cycling easily? If not it can still be painted but it's a lot more work. The action will need to be properly prepped because it's really shiny coming from defiance, if it isn't blasted and prepped right your paint is gonna wear off really quick. I have done quite a bit of defiance and surgeon actions for customers.

    Rifle Stock Painting

Lance, very clean work... especially considering that you are using rattle cans (or so it appears from a couple of the pictures, if i'm wrong forgive me). You do a good job on some of those area's in the stocks where the grip is, those area's suck to get stencils to attach to and the lines are never perfectly clean like we all want... good work! I refinish firearms and such professionally and have a LOT of my work features at SHOT show every year. Needless to say I'm a FFL 07/02. Not crapping here, just giving you kudo's for good work!
