Dusty and I had the late whitetail hunt south of Tucson, A premier tag as you all know. Dusty is DustyB0 on this site. That's Dusty Be Zero, referring to his online Hearts card playing days. Dusty has shot a couple of bucks in the 90"+ range, but not a 100 incher. So the quest was on. We were seeing 10 to 13 bucks a day, all small up to 80" plus or minus when we saw a buck we named "Shooter" Here's a photo of "Shooter" the first time we saw him. We figured he'd fill the bill of 100" so Dusty made a stalk. While he was crossing the canyon a coyote came into the picture and spooked the buck up and over the ridge. Two days later we spotted him and another buck on top of a ridge across from us, at 500 yards. Being on the top of the ridge didn't give a very good opportunity for a shot. Instead of coming down towards us they went over. At this time we could see he had broken off a couple of inches of his main beam on his left side. It wasn't until the last day of the season that we found him again and Dusty nailed him at 430 yards. As you can see he is now broken off from his G3 forward and his G3 is half gone!! He scores 92"+ as is with about 10" missing. Funny thing, Dusty passed on him at 300 yards a few days earlier when he saw the breakage, thought it was a different buck. In the bottom photo you can see a bullet hole in his right ear. Old? New? Cause of breakage??? 100 inches??????? Maybe next year.

Interesting question. The first buck I had mounted was 80", mounted by Jeff Seivers in 1980. I now have 6 more from 100" to 121", they all have special memories and are all works of art. I love them and I know some of the people that see them (like one of my daughters) think they are horrible. They aren't cheap but they are forever. Get them done when you can, and european mount the rest. I think the ones you have there would be great mounted, but thats me.

Great buck, congrats !!

That's tiny! Is that a shed or a broken tine tip? Either way, I can't imagine how you would have found that. Good work! When I found it I thought it was a broken tip but you can see where the pedicle(sp) is. Not sure if that is the right way to say it but you know what I mean.

In November I posted some photos off my trail camera showing a bull from velvet in June to nicely polished in October. Here's a link to them. http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/in...mp;#entry125085 Here's a photo of Buck Wickham, his dad, and the same bull. Buck shot this bull within a mile of where my cameras were during the late rifle bull hunt. Very nice bull, congrats to Buck!

Now that is 100% true( maybe a rarity in coues hunters from what i've read on this thread), thanks for the info I've been checking out a hunting area using google earth the last few days so it was fun to see where these big bucks were.

I'll take you up on that Buck, see you next summer.
