In the areas i hunt the only water for the cattle and deer ,pigs and all the animals come from water holes the ranchers have built otherwise there would be no water .If ranching ends the up keep will end and the animals will leave . ranching has helped hunting out by providing this services poviding water and acess to our hunting grounds . with out ranching there would be no hunting Bruce

Recurveman It looks like the rut is going strong in unit 24A where we were !!!!! Bruce

My son and I left early thursday morning for his hunt in unit 24A got camp set up by 8:00 am and went out to glass . we glassed up 7 bucks and all were chasing does or fighting with eachother . two of these bucks feet were so sore they could hardly walk . One buck we have been wathcing a few mounths he will score in the 120's we watched him all day . Got up opening morning and went out to find the buck we glassed all day he was nowere to be found me glassed 11 bucks a hand full of bucks that willl score in the 80's and a few spikes . On the second day I was sure we would find the deer we were looking for we got up and hiked to our glassing spot and waited for it to get light we started glassing and found a good buck that would go over 100 . My son said not he wonted to find the bigger buck it was to early in the hunt he said . It was getting around 9:00 and we were seeing more deer . I could here a Quad to the west of us I thought I was hearing things there were no roads to the west of us .after some time I could not hear it anymore we set and glassed watching a buck follow a doe from one side of the hill to the other when I could hear the Quad only closer this time I looked up to the top of the canyon there they were two SOB ridening there Quads along the mountion top and heading down our canyon we set there and watched drive down the canyon we were watching . They never stoped or acted like they say any deer they just kept drivening . My son was so mad we had scouted every othre week for 2 mounths and watched the deer here . We have seen other hunters here but never expected for some SLOB to ride there Quad in where there are no roads . on our way out we jumped out a small buck and my son took him .we loaded up and came home . Just got back from a cold day out glassing for a deer for my son . Seen plenty of deer they realy show up good in the snow . seen one buck chasing a doe hard for a hour then they went over the back side of the hill .he looked to score some where in the 120 class .hope to find him for my son . He's been working and has'ent got a chance to get out yet . The buck looks like the one he missed last year . In the same canyon he was last year within 400 yards of where we saw him befor . Couesi1 I got that buck in unit 24a . on the last day of the hunt the wind was so bad I almost stayed home . A bunch of cattle came out of a canyon to go water and they pushed the buck out to me what luck !!! Ive got the trailor ready taken my boy out and shot the gun all we need is some luck . were planing to stay out the whole hunt looking for a good buck . Thanks Bruce

Just got back from three day in the woods with my son seen lots of deer . The ruts in full swing and the big bucks are out. Could not get close enough to get my son a shot at a big one 400 yards was all we could get and thats a little to for for him right now. Will try again Tuesday Ive got a plan to get him closer . Bruce

Sorry Ernesto but there wont be any pic or story .My son has cought the flu and we wont be going out . He tells me he`s allright but he has a temp of 103 . I hate to tell him we cant go we had so much fun watching the big buck we`ve been chasing . There allways next year . He told me to he wonted to start shooting a bow so there be more time in the woods wiht him . Bruce
