You shouldn't need high mounts. That front sight shouldn't be a big deal. Especially if you go with the red. It won't be noticeable.

I have both set ups. I have a m4 with a primary arms micro that is legit. I've taken it calling, but never called a coyote. My other ar is a 20" heavy barrel, topped with a Leupold 3.5-10x40. It all depends on the type of platform you're working with.
