Looking to get a new spotter... Need pointers

Agreed with the above. The spotter is for checking "is that eye guard 3" or 5"? Is that a drop tine or a branch? Is that split g2 or not? All the small stuff that can not be seen with 15x and on the cheaper spotters, those small details can not be seen on the higher magnifacation of the cheaper models. Save about $1000 and buy a used Leica. I paid ~$900 for my Leica Televid APO 77

    Swift Scirocco II

Kevin is right, they do trend to open more then a ttsx with keeping near 100% weight retention and deep penetration. Pretty good happy medium between the ttsx and accubonds.

    Swift Scirocco II

They shot very well in my .257 wby and the only reason I did not run with them is because I had a TTSX load that shot about the same group sizes. AND, the only reason I picked the TTSX over the SCII is because I had used them before and had nothing but luck. I still have the Scirocco's on my relading bench, and the touch higher BC they offer as well as a lot of reviews and tests I have been seeing lately has me thinking about switching!

    Nosler e-tip

Old buck, if you don't have great accuracy right off the bat, try shortening your oal. Also, like i posted they tend to do better (accuracy and performance wise) at higher speeds.

    Nosler e-tip

I have never shot the Etip, but have plenty of experience with the TTSX (which, is the same design minus the rings the TTSX has). The bullets like to be pushed hard. The faster they go, the better they work. I have killed with monolithic bullets from 10 yards to 550. All have been the same result. Caliber size entry hole in, massive destruction, between dime and quarter size exit out.Stuff doesn't tend to go far. Minus the buck I shot this past year nothing has required tracking more then a few yards. This type of bullet works really well, just drive them fast and hard, they dont NEED to hit bone, but they work much better when hitting bone. They tend to expand more, and do NOT blow the piss out of a shoulder if you hit it. You can eat right up to the hole.

AWW!! Why you gotta post this! With a baby being born in just a couple months (and thinking about moving) I could always use more $$$ and I have a Leica spotter! But, for now I'm holding on to it!
