firstcoueswas80 replied to My Rights As An American's topic in Classified Ads
If someone from this site near Casa Grande/Tucson buys it, I will give you a free box of Remington .22 mag. Bought a .22 mag from Gamehauler and it didnt work, so now I have an extra box sitting around. -
Leftover tag, hunt options?
firstcoueswas80 replied to RodinAZ's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
That sucks you missed the draw, there goes your loyalty point! If you camp near major routes, basically anywhere right off of Ruby road, 286/Sasabe highway, near Arivaca, or Pena Blanca lake, there will be plenty of people abound to keep illegals out, not to mention BP drives past those spots very often. -
To a point, I would agree. TTSX do need to be driven fairly hard to expand to their maximum but at the same time, because they penetrate and retain their weight so much better, one can step down a weight and get the same performance as the heavies. ie use a 130 instead of a 140 through the .277 cailber, so thus extending your range. I think a lot of emphasis is put on the small exits offered up buy the Barnes bullets. In my experience and opnion on this, it is because the bullets to not open a huge amount. They open to an 'X', absolutely hammer the game they hit and then exit. Leaving a small entrance and exit, but causing massive damage and, more often than not, leaving the animal dead on the spot. When I was in Africa, I shot 10 animals. Nine of these animals were shot with a .300 wsm and 168 TTSX, one was shot with my .257 wby and 100 TTSX. Of these animals, only 4 took another step. An impala was double lunged and made it about 40 yards, a mountain reedbok was shot through the heart, with a 1 inch exit and made it about 50 yards, a black wildebeest was double lung hit and made it 100 yards, and a red hartbeest made it about 20 yards before laying down and getting another bullet put into him (the first shot was a gut shot at 340 yards). All other animals have died on the spot.

Try seating them shorter, and also make sure you scrub your barely down as far as you can. I dont know what it is about Barnes bullets, but they DO NOT like being shot after there is other fouling in the barrel. I have tested this many times over and 10/10 times, they shoot better when starting from a clean barrel.

The deer I killed that rolled down the canyon at 525 thought they worked fine

Bonus question... If anyone can tell me what bullet killed this deer (besides you Gabe, its your buck!) than you get a cookie! This bullet hit no bone, did not leave a huge exit wound (its the blood spot you see in the deer in picture number one), and, as you can imagine, no tracking job was needed!

In short... The Barnes TTSX is the shiznit. Now, to expand on that... You get the best of all worlds combined. Accuracy, dependability, deep penetration, high weight retention, decent/better than average ballistic coefficient for a strictly hunting bullet, and a polymer to help with controlled expansion. There's no doubt the Barnes TSX/TTSX have taken the hunting world by storm in the past few years, and for good reason. Actually, I guess that should be reasons. I have seen animals die from a Barnes bullet from a 257 wby, 270 wsm, 7 rem mag, 300 wsm, from ranges of 15 yards, to almost 600 yards varying from fox, bobcat, coyote, javelina to deer, nyala, baboons (how many people can say they shot a baboon with a TTSX?), all the way up to red hartebesst and elk. And the result has always been the same. Stuff is dead very quickly, MOST of the time right on the spot. I can, with 100% honesty say I have NEVER lost an animal that a had a piece of copper stuck in him or her. To improve on that, only one has needed more than one shot, and that was because of a heavy cross wind that I did not account enough for in Africa. To answer the question at hand... Is a Tipped TSX needed over a TSX? I don't believe so, but it adds a couple of very nice bonuses that do come in handy. First and foremost is the polymer tip. Truthfully, this is about the only distinction between the two, but it is like going from a coach, to first class. The polymer tip adds to the BC, and, in my personal opinion, the flight in general, as the tip of the bullet is sleek and smooth instead of a cumbersome and awkward hollow point. Secondly, the tip aids in perfect expansion, giving the trade mark 'X' to the bullet. A lot has been said about the smallish exits of game shot with a TTSX/TSX. News flash... This bullet is not designed to give gaping exit wounds. It is designed to leave massive destruction, gnarly wound channels, penetrate deeply, and retain a high percentage (read, 95%+) of its original weight. Next are a few photos for your viewing pleasure... Some of these animals died via TTSX, some died via TSX... See if you can tell the difference. The bullets attached are all TTSX, one recovered from a 80ish pound black springbok, one recovered on a quartering to coues deer, and one from a quartering away red hartebeest. Their accuracy abilities at a lasered 510 yards.

He is one ugly SOB! But can sure cook a pizza!

His arms are bent, not extended and those tongs dont look that long.. DEFINITELY not long enough for me to get close to a snake! I wouldn't doubt it being a real snake, maybe somewhere in Texas, but with their drought I doubt it. Been in Arizona/Tucson my entire life. Put ALLOT of miles on truck tires, boots etc. I've never seen anything remotely close to that.

It depends Doug, do you still have your vintage 1990's phone, or are you in with the times with a more modern phone that receives signal better?

I have a bullador at my house right now from the litter my dogs had. a better dog you will be hard pressed to find. They are all amazing with kids have a great temperaments and are friendly as can be. I sold all of the pups I had for right around 500 dollars and every person I have talked to I said they are worth every penny. if you look for them in a pet store, you will find brindle females go for around 2000 dollars.
