    Accurizing a Weatherby Vanguard

Best way to acurize it... Reload for it... If youre not set up to do so, I know how to make .257 wby's shoot (my main deer rifle is a .257) and I can develop and load for you if you like.
  5. I have all the info needed..... It is HUGE. I didnt kill it, and I'm jealous. There. Info provided.

Taking out my first youth hunter!

My little brother atually isnt a total rookie to hunting, he has never shot before though. He has been with me on several hunts, almost always going out for a day or two on deer hunts, and has been within 10 yards of about a dozen elk with me when he was a little kid. He can shoot too. He spends the summer with my grandpa in Pinetop and routinely costs my grandpas net worth to go down with the amount of .22 shells he shoots. He shoots his .243 alot, and I have pickec out targets for him to shoot before and he hasnt had a hard time picking them up. I am hoping he can get on the deer easily, and if he misses well that would be a bummer for sure but we will hopefully just go find another one.

Taking out my first youth hunter!

Ive gotta admit, I am pretty nervous for this hunt! I have had paying clientel before, and I am more nervous for this than their hunts! If I cant find a single buck for my little brother thats a BAD sign. Hopefully we can find a fork or a spike to hold still and volunteer to take a .257 100 gr TTSX through the boiler room. That would be awesome.

    Ready to go!

If those bucks are what you have killed in AZ without any scouting you need to STOP coming out here, and leave those bucks and their genes for us local boys! Have a good hunt!

138 Coues --- kids first buck!

    He's ruined for life!
  11. Quail are tough little buggers, I normally shoot 7 1/2 or 8 for quail, Gambels and Mearns. I usually shoot a cylinder and improved cylinders in my O/U but always carry a light modified or modified choke in my pocket incase the birds like to get up way out there.

    Grey Fox Rodeo

Thats impressive even more so that you got that many fox to hold still long enough to slip a .17 bullet into them!!

How do you get the deer blood smell out of your backpack?

No excuses. Your hunt ended how long ago? Read the Forum rules... Thats the number rule. Post up story/pix ASAP.

    Grey Fox Rodeo

That was an expensive day!!!! LOTS of 12guage ammo! I love gettin in to fox thick. Only done it a few times, but having three in on one stand is not unusual for fox. The are a blast!

How do you get the deer blood smell out of your backpack?

    A. Post up the pictures of your hunt and story. THAT is the first step. B. Dont let the dogs near it, or you DEFINATELY wont have that problem... Ask me how I know.... C. Like Tines said, it will go away eventually.

    Staying Warm

Wear a warm beanie. LOTS of heat escapes through your head. Throw hand warmers in your boots and gloves. You can be cold and be ok, but once you start feeling it in your feet and hands the day is pretty much gone.

    Glassing

Something I have always done while hunting is if I or anyone else glasses up a deer, even if it is known to be a doe we will guide each other in to the deer for a couple reasons. A. Coues deer are usually not alone, and any other eyes you can get on that deer ups your chances of finding the other ones with it. B. It is good practice to guide each other in for when it is time to shoot.

    Harvested 2 Bucks…& saved well over 50

Awesome job Gino... I just have ONE problem with your story... “Should, I shoot it?" That shoulda been what you call a No Brainer! Great job on all accounts. That looks like a pretty big female. What was Zip's reaction to the lion?

    Glassing

I suck at glassing bedded deer, but glass the shade. Put your face in the sun and look for them in the shade of trees etc.

4 and 5 year old go bobcat hunting

Yeah, I think your right. Just gettin them out there is the main thing. I think to much like a typical parent sometimes and worry about snakes, predators gettin to close for comfort, etc, but I guess you cant keep them in a bubble! Thats the point of the hunt, and what the shotgun is for

    What would you do?

Unfortunately, that is Arizona public land. Though, I would probably talk to him and explain to him where I plan on hunting and why... Really spell it out so he kind of gets the idea. HOPEFULLY thats enough, but if its not I would move on to another area. Guys like that are probably ones that would shoot at a sound with out having a sighting of anything.

    Needing a new scope

The scope from my 300 wsm stayed in Africa so Scotty could shoot a Nyala... Looking for a new one. ONLY Zeiss or Leupold in the 3.5-10 or 4.5-14 area.
