In less than a week Scotty will be partaking in a "old school" adventure.... Returning to the days of Roosevelt, Capstick and Ruark. He will be chasing some big ole angry dugga boys with a doule rifle chambered in the classic 470 nitro express. Good luck Scott. Shoot straight and remember two triggers!

That is a shooter for sure...Imagine if he makes it through a season or two more and can put on some mass?! TOAD! -
If you were at 1/2 mile why didnt you shoot? Thats well within your range isnt it?

Just got off the satelite phone with Scott... He killed a big, old, worn down bull a few days ago as well as a big Klipsringer and a Grysbok. Rich also killed a 57" Kudu. They are waiting for the Spotted Hyena other than that they are done!

I hunted coyotes quite a bit down on the BA this past year. I did alot of research to the coyote season down there and I think it USED to be a three month only season, but I think that has sense changed and it is open, although I do believe fox or bobcats can not be taken for some reason. That strikes me as odd as I could think cats and fox would kill more of the precious, mysterious quail than a coyote would, but thats just my opinion. -
A. I love big two points like that! B. WOW she is talented!!

Every year I question myself why I put in for December hunts, when I am already going crazy here in October (started a month or so ago). I have been out doing some leisurely scouting 3 times. The first time was just driving roads in a new area, the other two was while glassing/ calling. Have seen only 15 deer in about 3 hours of good glassing, 9 being bucks and 5 being 80 +/-. Tested the turrets out to 600 yesterday. Am good to go! I cant wait!

Jake and I went out today calling/scouting. Somehow, I have a ability to see a fox area, call it and kill it. We were drivin down the road and I saw one of these areas so we went to callin. About 3 minutes in, right after I had switched sounds I hear Jake click off the safety of his .243 and I see a fox runnin across the rocks comin quick. Jake holds off as we know he is coming hard. About 30 seconds later the fox steps out at about 10-15 yards. BB shot from the 12 guage and he goes down, but I had a feeling I hit him a little far back but he flops backwards and we think he is dead. After a few giggles we get back to callin. I look to the right just in time to see one take off to the right. When its time to go get the fox, it is still alive looking at me. I am only about 7 yards away comtemplating what to do. I dont want to shoot it with the shotgun as it will obliterate the fox, I think about using my .40 but before I can do that the fox gets up and hauls arse. I did not see that coming so my reaction time was a little slow, but I managed to get one shot off before he bailed off the cliff. I did not think I hit him and expected to see him hobblin off, but he was was layin at the bottom of the cliff. I looked up, and at about 70-80 yards was another fox. I put the bead high and shot. The fox jumped up and ran off. Jake fired a shot at him but missed. We went over to try and find it to no avail Saw 10 deer, 4 bucks. Thats a total of 15 deer so far, 9 bucks... Ill take that ratio!

I found a pair of hard scrabble hikers in my size and a good deal online so I had to get them. So far they feel great. A little stiff but I take my dogs for 2-3 miles a day so they'll get there.

Pay closer attention, don't call until ready to shoot and shoot before the fox gets to 1 foot. -

Would you pay someone to develop/reload for you
firstcoueswas80 posted a topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
With so many people wanting to get into long range shooting, but not having the time and/or equipment to reload I got to thinking... Who would pay someone to develop a load and test it on paper to a desired distance? Or pay someone to develop the tightest load possible from a bench from 100 yards, and then load X amount of rounds? Would you pay this person to not only develop the load and then test turrets out to a certain distance? I know alot of people would like to expand their range, but are limited due to using factory rounds and not the bullet/accuracy they want. What if that issue was solved?
