Concealable Pistols
firstcoueswas80 replied to Hancock7WSM's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Lark hit the nail on the head. Every single word of it. Double action, hammerless. I used to sell the chit out of them when I worked at Sportsmans. So many guys came in looking for a 1911, 5" .45 ACP for their wife for home defense. One of the first things I brought up was how many walls between where your wife sleeps, to where the kids sleep. The average was 1, some being two. As soon as I brought up the guarantee that the .45 will penetrate that wall EVERYTIME, their mind changed, and was completely open to suggestions. I converted about 95% of those people over to a double action, hammerless .38 special. Some guys were stuck on having a auto, even though most of the time their wives' werent able to work the slide at a less than perfect group. They were just set on them beaing able to crank off 10+ rounds in just a few seconds. Most did go to .380, or a 9mm, though. Everyting Lark said is 100% true about his reccomendation! Anyone who trys to get to my mom when my dad and I are gone will get 6 shots to the chest from my moms 38, I can promise that! -

My dad has a 7 RUM and we like it. It shoots well, and dropped his coues at 531 a couple years ago with one shot! 140 Accubonds work great -
Happy B-day big dog! May your day be blessed with black mini skirts, and thoughts of big bulls and bucks!

First stand was dry, tired to make it happen but nothing would come in. Second stand, Jake and I, and my buddy COLIN were driving around checking waterholes for ducks. Saw some extremly interesting and "Foxy" looking rocks. In our short, 50 yard hike in we saw two piles on fox poo, and one that looked like Big Foot laid, it intimidated me! Anyways... I set the Foxpro about 10 yards infront of me as I knew it would be quick as conditions were close. COLIN was sitting right next to me, as he is a hunting virgin and is yet to kill anything, so I wanted him to get a shot. At the ten minute mark, this pretty female popped up right behind the call, at about 15 yards. I told COLIN "Theres a fox"... Since he is pretty new to hunting, he didnt raise up in time and I beat him to the trigger and dropped the hammer. The number 4 buck put her down on the spot! COLIN was sad he missed out, but he needs to be quicker. He will learn in time! (Jake has the pictures, will post soon)

What scope do you have on your's? 4.5-14x50 Zeiss with target turrets. Love it! It is about to get a new McMillian stock!

Have the above mentioned bullets. Will trade them, would prefer some 168 .308 TTSX, will add cash if need be. or some 6mm Interbonds.

Thats a dam good day! Reminds me of the day I called in two lions on one stand, and the day we killed two lions spot and stalk.

I just noticed this, but your buddy has a funky way of carrying his XD! It looks like it is on the front of his leg?! -

Jeremy, I have killed I think three coues with my 270 wsm (which, BTW, my gunsmith just got a $950 check from UPS to replace the stock!) My preferred load is 63.5 grains of H4831sc with a Federal GMM 215 primer, and a 140 Accubond. This gun and load has shot .138 at 100, and has held 1/2 MOA out to 500 yards on paper, from a bipod in the back of my truck. Insanely accurate. Give it a try and you will not be let down, I promise!

Cant argue with you there! I have had some good luck shootin them on the run, but much prefer shooting them once with the shotgun and then calling in some more! -

Over/under 12guage/223 is made and is an interesting concept. What happens when your double hangs up out there at 100 yards? Perfect range for the .223, but out of range for the shotgun. What happens if you miss? HUGE down fall is the fact that each fired arm only offers one shot. Choose your weapon by the area your calling and you will be good! -
That right there is why I ALWAYS bring my stuff in! I bring the super important stuff (rifle, bow, optics) in on the first trip.
