    SLIK 330-EZ or 340-EZ

I have always been a fan of the three leg extensions instead of 4. I also have a Jim White head. It takes a little getting used to because it is so smooth, at first you tend to think it is "too smmoth". Once you get used to it, you realize it is Gods gift to glassing!

    Waiting on a 4x4

Well, for the first time in 6 or 7 years, I have Coues Deer Tag Soup. Just like I thought, it tastes like chit! Due to the new career, and buying my first home, I only had two days to hunt. Scott, Larry, Doug, Brian, my Dad and I, as well as my buddy Johnathon did the best we could, just couldnt connect. Had a shot at a hihg 80's low 90's buck yesterday at 510 yards while waiting for the 4x4 to stand up. He was moving across the hill, and stopped long enough for a shot, but I wasnt quite set up yet. Oh well. Had a good hunt!

Will I ever get a bigger buck?

Poor little Ernesto, my heart bleeds for you! NOT! Quit your whining or you will kill spikes for the rest of your life! Not many tamales come from spikes, believe me.. Been there, done that!

    .270 wsm or 7mm wsm???

the 7 wsm does have some impressive ballistics, I do love my 270 wsm with 140 Accubonds though!

    Hunting with an AR

I love my AR for coyote hunting, but I will stick to the bolt gun for deer. Carry a side arm (12+1 .40 S&W) for the two legged critters.

Are you ready for the long shot? I am...

Jason, I tend to think that quite a few people will do things atleast half way right.. or maybe a little less. They will take the time to develop a load, get a good scope with turrets etc, put all the numbers into a ballistics calculator convert inches, clicks etc etc, make a drop chart... Then call it good. That is a real good start, but actually testing the drop that the calculator says, and how your scope/set up tracks etc is the real test. When I first got into this with my .270 wsm I cant even tell you how much time I spend shooting to test all of these. The results were actually quite impressive. From a prone rest, with just a bipod my rifle held 1/2 MOA out to 600 yards... 3 inches at 600 yards, I was dang impressed! My 257 wby is not nearly as impressive, but does the same in the long run. The .257 shoots .75 MOA out too 600. I used it on my longest shot last year at 571. I needed about 3 more inches for the wind to be doped perfectly, but since I spent as much time shooting my reloads and testing at long ranges, I knew where the bullet would hit. I dont know what others have seen from the ballistics calculators, but the calculator I used for both my 270 wsm and 257 wby (same one) was within one click out to 700 yards.

Are you ready for the long shot? I am...

+1 on that. My buddy sent me a pic of the nice coues he had just shot... Said he shot it at 920 yards. About made me puke, because he has never ever shot that far. He had never even shot the gun he was using. Make me kind of sick actually.

Are you ready for the long shot? I am...

While I have not had nearly the time to practice with my 257 wby this year as I did last year (new career, and I bought a house a month ago) I still know I am ready for a 600 yard shot. Jason, I have Sunday, Monday and Tuesday off. I will PM ya right now and let ya know where we are camping if you want to camp with us.
