A little shotgun help from ya'll!!
firstcoueswas80 replied to Kilimanjaro's topic in Other Hunting Gear
Thing looks awesome! Cant wait to help ya strip her down and refinish her. Then she will really look purty! -
If you want a hot rod .257, get a 257 wby! After all, it is a 7 mag necked down!

Here is my new rig! I just put her together today. Spikes lower, custom upper with 20" 1/8 twist barrel. 4 position stock (I think I need to get a longer one, as the Leupold 4.5-14x40 is as far forward as it can go and I still need to get it farther forward) Here are some photos. PS, I need a way to attach a sling. On the stock, there is a stud, so the rear is covered. I have tried a picitanny attachment on the front but it intrudes on the sight picture, and looks dumb.

Negative. If I was shooting at him, his skull plate would be blowed up!

The Claw: First time test Impressive.
firstcoueswas80 replied to bobbyo's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I get a kick out of people placing $100 bi-pods on a rifle, but no wanting to carry a Claw because of price! I am 99.999% I will be with Scottyboy on his elk hunt, and I will watch him smoke that 390" we are going to find (no pressure Scott). I am also sure that I will get a chance to play with it. As well, I am quite sure it will find its way onto which ever rifle I am packing at the time... (been eyeing that Kimber in the classifieds!) I have seen and handled one, but never shot off of one and I think it looks like one Bad Arse piece of equipment. I cant wait to test one out, and strap one to "El Chupacabra"! -
Wow, that is one heck of a price on that rig! I LOVE mine! I am tempted to get it and take the night sights, then turn around and sell it! Great deal for someone!

loose or pellets?
firstcoueswas80 replied to Kilimanjaro's topic in Muzzleloader hunting for Coues Deer
Scott, even if they dont expand a 1/2" wound, and the amount of force a 300 grain bullet hits with is still not a bad combination! -
Wow! That looks awesome! What a trip that must have been! Did you guys move camp alot, or just park the trailer and stay in one location for the most part?

Graduation gift
firstcoueswas80 replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Colin is supposed to be in town for my graduation party. If he is, I will take him out. Him and I went javelina hunting in Jan and he got a kick out of that. I got to shoot the gun with Scottyboy on Sunday. I like it! Need to work up some loads but I think it is going to be a pretty bad arse rifle for my purpose. -

Recommendations for Berger bullet load????
firstcoueswas80 replied to ehunt's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Be advised, when I email MR. Berger for load info, his listed maxes were 2-3 grains below what the max was getting near in my rifle. so, dont be afraid to push it past what he says as long as there are no pressure signs. -
It was brought to my attention, that I have not been posting much, and I have not posted progress here in the academy. I succesfully graduated the Border Patrol academy. I graduated on April 16 along with 39 of my fellow classmates. We started at 50, dropped down to 39 then gained one from a previous class. I had the honor of having Scottyboy pin my badge, and Hector aka Chef was also at the ceremony. I lost a total of 20 pounds, and gained the respect of all of my classmates as I know they did not think I was going to be able to make it through because of my size. Little did they know... On our first mile and a half time, I ran a 12:28, and finished sixth in the class. On our final, I ran a 11:30, and finshed sixth in the class. I enjoyed the academy, and all though it was tough at times, it was a amazing experience. Currently, us non-native speakers are in Spanish immerision course. It is definately interesting. I still have a month here, and can not wait to get home and start working in the field!

You could have the sizing die turned down to far so that it is bumping the shoulder back too much. Or, you could not be lubing it enough. PS, Hammer is there because my bench is a do-it-all!

Interesting Bullet Expansion Test
firstcoueswas80 replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Correct me if I am wrong, but arent the Barnes designed for 95-100% weight retention? It looks to me like the 100 yard Barnes bullets shed the petals and lost alot more weight then they are designed? -

Been brought to my attention...
firstcoueswas80 replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Non-hunting trip reports
Casey ya habla algo de espanol y lo hace muy bien. Yo le quise presentar a mi hermana para que practicara mas, pero Casey es muy timido. Casey already speaks some spanish y he does it really good. I tried to introduce him to my sister so he can practice more but Casey is to shy. Ernesto C Now that part is a lie Ernesto! You never even mentioned anything about a sister! First question... Does she look like you (Lets hope not!) Thank you guys for the comments. It was a pretty awesome day. I am proud of my self as are my parents! I can not wait to get back to Arizona so I can start working! -
Who wants a Crown and Coke? I will buy the first round!
