Joe Foss Shooting Complex
firstcoueswas80 replied to bchoitz's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Jim, thats too close for Ghost Buster to shoot! Of course, it is handicapped in your hands. If you like, send it down to me and I will stretch its legs. -
Yep, still #51. No one dropped out!
-
Well, I didnt leave today. Looks like I will be flying into El Paso EARLY Wednesday, then hooking up with another class and joining them.
-
Awesome job! Minus the mass, the right horn looks identical to the left horn of my 2008 rifle buck!

Guys/Gals thanks for the comments. It is getting crunch time. I leave tomorrow morning at 0630 (hopefully). I am nervous of course, but I think it will be ok

Help me pick a Bullet
firstcoueswas80 replied to lionhunter's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
If you want one bullet for everything IMHO, I would look at the 168 TTSX very closely. -
Can we see the broken buck from the front to see how bad he is busted up?

Help me pick a scope
firstcoueswas80 replied to CouesFanatic's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
+1. 300 rum is a heavy hitter, and I would doubt a $200-300 scope is going to hold up like it should. OTOH, a Zeiss 3-9x40 can be had for $325-$400(brand new at 400) Excellant scopes for the money and I sold a TON of them when I worked at Sportsmans Warehouse. -
Keep saving. In the end, you wont be happy with out one of the big names. Save your money, buy the best once. For those that dont know, that means Leica!

Lets go kill him before I leave Monday!

I have never seen the Promaster Binos, but I did a review on the HD spotting scope... I believe they want $800 for the scope... In my findings, it was not worth it. I compared it to a Pentax spotter, as well as my Cabelas spotter. It was a better better than my Cabelas spotter (paid $200 for) and about 10% or so behind the Pentax. FWIW....

I got the call!
firstcoueswas80 replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Well, I made it through the first day so thats a good start! BUT, I might possibly delayed.... There are 51 people in my class. They only send 50 to the academy. I am the ONLY person in my class from Tucson.. So, if no one drops out by Monday at 0630 I am staying home for another week and working at the station until the next class leaves. -
J, If anything, my draw lenght is too short... 29" and I am 6'3 with as long/if not slightly longer than average length arms.
-
Ballistically speaking, 22-250 IMO
-
I had this same problem the other day when I was double checking my bow. I was missing to the left. If I really concentrated, and beared down on my bow and used proper form, I would hit in the center... Could be you... Just another thing to think about!
-
Dont forget Mr. Jerry Jones...
-

firstcoueswas80 replied to Flash's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
FWIW, I was serious about the yellow ears... How long is that goat Azcoues? Looks like he is pretty friggin' long! -
Well said! Michael has made many changes to the organization without Bills okay and they all seem to be a turn for the better all the way down to the bowtie BBQ. MMMM I love me some BBQ. One thing I do disagree on is it would not make sense to keep Boldin. I strongly feel we need to keep him. It opens the field up to have Boldin on one side and Fitz on the other. And when you stack them on one side… GOOD LORD. Defenses don’t know what to do. I would much rather get rid of lets says a backup quarterback that until now had not interest in the team. That would be quite a bit of money to free up. Just pay the man. GO CARDS!!!!! Would you be talking about a left handed young gun that went to a 'certain' PAC-10 college? A guy who shined in college, but hasnt done jackish in the NFL and got beat out by a 37 year old? Yeah, send him on his way. We need to keep Fitz, and Boldin. They are worth more than number 7.
