At least it didnt do what mine did when I shot him in the head! Heck of a buck, any pictures of the mount? -
Forgot to add this little tid bit... Matt and I went over to the Pajarita and hiked up in there a little. We were glassing for bedded bucks... Didnt find any bucks, but could tell they have been there! My first shed I have glassed up. Nothing special, but a neat little 3 point.

Did you shoot him in the head? -
Anybody?

My dad made this gun cabinet by hand back when he was in highschool, we just do not have room for it. It is nothing fancy, just a plain ole gun cabinet with a glass door and two small swinging doors on the bottom. It is in good shape, nothing that some Pledge cant fix. Any one can have it for free, just a few stipulations: A. A donation to Amanda, or for the contest (Dont be stingy) B. Come pick it up.

IME, laminate stocks are pretty hardy. I would rather have a synthetic on a serious hunting rifle though. Laminate stocks tend to be a little heavy. But then again, there is NOTHING light about my 270wsm and I have managed to use that for the last few years with no problem. My .257 is about 2-3 pounds lighter and that is a very nice surprise!

dang dude, I knew you and your old man knew how to hunt, but coming on here and embarassing all of us coues FREAKS with a toad like that?! Maybe it is best you go back to hunting muleys! Oh, and maybe we shouldnt go chase deer... I might sabotage your bow or something -
If you dont shoot him with your bow.. You are nuts. Seriously. You are nuts.

What makes a successful hunt for ..... YOU?

I agree with Matt 100%.. Maybe that is why we had such a good time on my hunt?! I love to hunt. I love to spend time out there, cut and dry. I am not saying that if I do not get bloody, then I had a piss poor hunt but it sure helps! Matt and I were getting pretty frustrated towards the end of my hunt. We were having a great time. Glassing up a ton of deer, just nothing that deserved a bullet. (actually thats not true.. I didnt get a shot at one, Fred shot at the other, and dad shot at the other). Plane and simple, I HATE the taste of tag soup. -
PHUNK...... "DID I GET HIM?!"
-
That looks like a Eberlestock 104 or 107 to me. Great packs. I have a 107 and it has had the from 2/3 of 4 bucks in it with out a glitch.
-
Wow are they proud of that! Seems to me like it would make long range shooting almost too easy!
-
DO YOU NEED A SPOON.... To help clean them?
-
Here is a picture of how dad and I get to camp and roll around now: Here is my hunting truck in the snow! This was in 36B in 2006:

I enjoy chasing them as well! Two years ago I snuck into a group of three boars... The one I shot popped up and looked at me at 22 yards... He was the FARTHEST pig from me! It was awesome!
-
I am ready! I will be leaving my bow at home, but the Leicas will still be out to play!
-
great buck! Looks like I need to check into "The Claw"
-
I have had great luck buying used guns at discounted prices and building up from there... The donor action for my .257 wby mag (rem 700 7mm mag, complete gun) was only $315 and it was in decent shape. That was the entire gun..

Shilen is the barrel. Richards Microfit stock. Yes, it has a cheek piece.
-
Mat, I have a Mauser 98 with a Shilen (my 270 wsm). todd Bettin did the work and it shoots AWESOME! He is from Iowa I believe? Maybe Idaho.

Stinging and Biting Critters
firstcoueswas80 replied to Mr. Jonathan's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I got a nice spider bite on the first November hunt... The scab is STILL there and it is sensitive! -
The buck I killed, I saw him rubbing his horns on a tree or two, getting ready to strengthen his neck muscles. Also saw his buddy (small fork) sparing with a spike.
