    2x4 down!

You think thats on accident, Jim? You supply me with 3 or more pairs of Kings Camo ( I wear XXL ) and I will retire my tried, true, and proven camos! Jim, I am glad that spending the money on the scope/turret combo finally came together so that I could use my long distance set up! Thanks to all!

    2x4 down!

Funny you should say that... 5 of my 7 deer have been taken on the last day.. Matt has taken both of his Coues on the last day... Him and I were joking that we should only hunt on the last day of the hunt!

    2x4 down!

Didn't him in the antlers at all! BUT, one of the "finishing shots" did go through his antlers like a dang field goal! Mat scared the crap out of me when he said I almost hit in him the head! Tim, he didn't bleed a drop in the 10 yards that he went...

    Good year for bucks

I am torn between this also. I have been on a couple of hunts. We have not seen a ton of small bucks.

    Rifle Range Commandos

Although I don't believe there are 'range commandos' as I believe to each their own and only care about unsafe range practices but I had a somewhat similar ordeal although mine turned out to be interesting. I was at the range sighting in a rifle and the range is pretty empty due to the humidity and heat of the summer. There are two guys a few benches down with more gear at the range than I own and a few nice looking rifles. I figured they'd fallen into what you guys are calling range commandos. Their shots were pretty sporadic and after they'd shoot they'd hoot and holler. I was curious to what was going on so I put my binos on their target and the bullet holes were all over the place. So a few more shots and again the guys high five and talk about how well of a shot just sent. I again look at the target 100yds out and just shrug my shoulders as if these guys are nuts if they call that good shooting. Two more shots go by and that's it I had to think something else is up. I wander by and ask how's the shooting. They say 'pretty good'. We talk what rifles they are shooting and how they think they finally got their rounds dialed in. I ask what kind of groups they are shooting. The guy holds up a target that blew me away with clover leafs of rounds touching rounds on each target. So in my mind I think they're shooting off bad rounds. While I'm looking at the target I look forward to the target down range and the guy looks at me and says.... oh don't look the groupings on that target we're shooting flies. "What?" I asked. "Where shooting flies that land on the target. "No way.." "Yep". "well I gotta see this" I go over and get setup on my 15x's and he guys say "We got one" I look at the target and see a fly on the upper corner. "Ok get ready and keep an eye on that fly". BOOM! A hole appears exactly where the fly WAS! All I could say was "Nice shot" smile and nod at the guys as they continued to have fun in the sweltering heat. I wonder if you need a tag to shoot flies at the range.... hmmm... So maybe... he was just shooting flies. Never judge the paper holes for how well the shooter and rifle is... cmc Chris, that is pretty intereting! I guess I can understand why they were hootin' and hollerin'. Which range?

You know you're addicted to coues when.....

As I told Larry this morning... When you are 23 and single, yet think about hunting coues more than hunting the ladies.... Fortunately for me, this only happens the two weeks before deer season.

While we are on the subject (Mexican Coues)

My family (moslty uncle) has always called them the Mexican Fantail deer. IMO, they are nothing more than a YOUNG coues that has some great genes. Firest year buck with, with a nice tight 3x3 basket rack.

    Rutting odds?

If it cools down, I think it is possible to see some pre-rut activity. I dont think there will be any hardcore rutting action, but possibly some tussels between bucks, etc.
