    Need a Max COAL

Some times the VLD's do in fact like to be touching the lands, but not always. My OAL for the .257 wby is 3.360", which is approximately .100" jump TO the lands.. They also shot well at 3.305" so there is a huge guessing game. If I had to do it again, I would run two ladder tests... One to see where the "nodes" are as far as powder charge. Then, I would run a ladder test at the best looking powder charge, changing seating depth in .010" increments. Next time I have to develope a VLD load, that is how I will go about business.

    Guide license?

Basically, it can be a wash. Alot of it depends on your client. I have had clients not kill, and yet still be really good friends with them. I have had clients kill, and not hear from them ever again, after having a good time in camp. Most of the time IME, the client will offer a hand in helping around camp, but obviously is obligated. Make sure you can cook good in camp meals, or that would not be a happy client.. Unless of course you are seeing 100" deer every day, then it doesnt matter whats on the menu!

    Emergency supplies

Something that hasnt been pointed out is your legs! I have always been in decent shape from football or whatever. My freshman year of college, I took a class where we back packed 60 miles in 6 days. I ran a couple miles a few times before we went, mostly banking on my previous season of football to carry me thorugh the trip. We carried all of our water, food shelter etc etc on our backs. This was a SERIOUS test of my man hood. Of course, it started with my boots and the fact that they SUCKED and I had blisters after the first day. After that, my legs were shot and after the 4th day, I seriously had to man up and try to make it out! They were sore, tired, and cramping! No doubt the hardest test of my man hood I have ever had, came out on top by the skin on my teeth!

Looking for a decent Spotting Scope

I bought the Cableas Alaskan Guide series spotter from a member. From 20-50x power, it is a very good spotter. It looses a little bit at 60x as far as image quality and brightness but for the amount I paid for it ($235 shipped) I am VERY pleased with it!

    Guide license?

It takes $300, and a fairly decent knowledge of the regs. You can get a combo hunting/fishing guide license, but I am not sure how much that one is. I would assume G&F would want more for a combo, but I could be wrong.
