Stuck bullet in a 300 mag
firstcoueswas80 replied to seek100plus's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
AS far as I am concerned, the only way to get that piece out of there is how people have been trying. How is your sizing die set up? It sounds like it might not be completly resizeing the brass. When your arm on the press is extended so that the shell holder is all the way at the top, do you have the die screwed in enough so it is contacting the shell holder? -

Thats a good rig!!! You guys all know what I will be carrying, but just for fun, I'll tell ya again!!! "El Chupacabra" .257 weatherby mag. This weekend I am going to see if I can duplicate a near max load that produced a acceptable load with 100 Gr TSX.. Then, I am going to concentrate on 15 VLD's... Yes Gino, I'm gonna give them a try!! The load I am trying to duplicate with the TSX. Back up will be "Skull buster" My .270 wsm which has a few years experience under her belt. All though she is heavy, she does the trick! Both rifles wear a 4.5-14 Zeiss scope with target turrets. -
Very nice!!! I know its just a jack, but I hit one last night at 30 yards with the Rage and it just about tore it in half! That is a beautiful buck! He looks very symertical! Nicely done!

What do you mean by the bolded sentence? Shouldnt the bigger bucks have more mass, not less? Or am I reading this wrong? -

Field judging methods
firstcoueswas80 replied to creed_az_88's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
First off, straight out tine length is where the majority of the score comes from. If his rack reaches for the sky, hes a good buck, and probably a shooter! Of course, great mass and width add up also. A good way it to look at his frame. If he is as wide/wider than his hears and tall, he has the "frame" of a big buck. And in a pinch, that is good enough for me. If you have time to sit and look at the deer, look for some measurements that stick out... 4+ inch eyeguards, 6+ inch g2's 4+ inch G3's. If his beams reach out and touch his nose = big buck! Like others have said, if he gets your heart goin, hes the right one! -
With your shooting skills and ability to place a shoot Thats all you need. Would you like me to have Linnea show ya how its done Mikem you spell about as well as Lark hears!

Dont forget the most important thing.. The Huntress is happy in the picture, and you can see her excitement!! I hate seeing trophy pictures with the hunter/huntress not smiling with a toad buck in the picture!

Instead of having to drive to a check in location (gas isnt cheap) Why not just have honor system with pictures as proof? Is anyone afraid somebody from the CWT.com brotherin is going to try and rip them off? -

Which rifle is best for coues and psossibly elk?
firstcoueswas80 replied to BIGBUGPETE's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
So you wanna compare groups? I'm game with that... Keep in mind, El Chupacabra is in the developement stage.. If ya like, Ill show you the final product of my 270 wsm. Im not saying there is no such thing as a accurate or a good gun for less than $1,000... The Remington 710/770 is IMO, a low quality gun that will not last long. Now, if you want to compare cheap guns, I have a .243 that I paid $200 all set up that is a tack driver with factory ammo and the POS scope that is on it. I also have a .270 that is 50-60 years old that my grandad paid about $20 for and it will dang near out shoot my .270 wsm. PS. Savages are known for out the box accuracy.. And have seen them produce more time the once! They are a highly under rated gun IMO -
They sure are proud of everything they make, charging a arm and a leg for it! Having said that, the adapter for the Duovids is on my list...

Which rifle is best for coues and psossibly elk?
firstcoueswas80 replied to BIGBUGPETE's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Yep. You would be MUCH better off spending a little more $$ and getting a much better gun. Try and find a used ADL, or some Walmarts still have them at close out prices. -
That two point needs to be taken out of the gene pool!!! My Mathews is telling me it will volunteer to do the dirty work!

BBPete.... With a $290 rifle, you get what you pay for... Keep that in mind... To me, the caliber is the least of your worries as IMHO, you are not getting "much" gun.
