Which rifle is best for coues and psossibly elk?
firstcoueswas80 replied to BIGBUGPETE's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Larger (diameter) bullet, heavier bullet, more powder = more recoil. -
I have a Casio GzOne. I love th phone! It takes awesome pix and gets great reception. If you get this phone, you will need to get it off of Ebay and have them activate it. http://cgi.ebay.com/UTSTARCOM-CASIO-GZONE-...id=p3286.c0.m14

What ever gun you can hit the most frequently at. I have taken, or seen deer taken with : 270 270 wsm 7 mag 7 ultra mag 243 30-06 308 all deer are just as dead as any out there. -
Well, I am finally to the point of where I want a good, high quality spotting scope. So, I would like to trade my Kimber for one. The gun: Kimber 84M 22-250. Bought brand new in 2006. Barrel was properly broken in by myself and RedRabbit. The gun has been hunted with, but has not, in any means been abused. There are the normal handling marks on the stock from going in/out of the safe and being my main coyote gun. Metal is 98%+. Gun is topped with a Leupold VX-III (Leupold number 55275) 4.5-14x40 LR (side focus) 30mm tube Varmint Reticle sitting in Leupold bases/rings. Scope is in excellant condition, lenses are perfect. Unlike some other Kimbers, this gun is a shooter. I stopped at 1/2" 5 shot group with 50 NBT, Rem brass, F210 primer and 36 grains of Varget. My best shot with this gun is a jack rabbit at 435 yards. Here are some pictures:

Daniel is a good guy... Shoulda asked him about his shot at a coyote! -
Sorry boys... She shot a 1/2" 5 shot group (like always) today... Was hoping she was off cuz of the recent misses on the coyotes but she was right where she needed to be... I cant let her go... She is off of the market.

Wow, that could be a strong contender for the best trail cam pic! Bad @$$ buck! -
Funny how my post got called out by what? 3? 4 people? Because I actually have enough respect for the animal that IF I was to kill a toad, I'd put it in the books? I could care less about ego and the books. Sure, I want to kill a big ole buck that will make the book, but it has nothing to do with "my buck is bigger than yours." I couldnt care less how big or small some one elses deer is. If you are happy with it, who gives a rats butt what it score. Why do you think I have killed a spike, fork, (2) small 3x2's and posted pictures smiling? Maybe I am the only one on here who actually has respect for the animal I hunt. Por ejemplo... Shooting my buck in December in the head... Didnt want the deer to suffer all though he was dead deer walking.

I'll use my address, so Amanda has an easy time knowing where to send the shirt... 3756 -
It doesnt bother me either, I see it as a useful tool and will use them when ever possible if thats what is needed to make the hunt succesful. The only problem that extends from this is the fact that he is killing these GIANT deer, and none of them are in the record bools. Seems dis respectul to the animal and makes it seem that the only reason he kills is to stroke his own ego.. Money, hunting fame, etc etc.

Coues: Any buck that stands there and watches my arrow fly into his kill zone. Muley: 3pt or better that stands there and lets me fling an arrow at him. Last year, I had 8 different muley bucks stand there and look at me with bow in hand. All were semi decent bucks too. go figure what happens when you have your first choice tag!

You will be pleased with the gun. I would shoot a 140 Accubond or 140 TSX and call it good!
-
you could sell off your 22-250 and go buy a scope

This is my first custom built to MY standards. I have a custom .270 wsm that was already built when I bought it, and I hope this one shoots 1/2 as good.. It looks better, hope it shoots as well! What it is: Remington 700 action, overhauled completly. (you all know what that means) Bell and Carlson stock tan with black spider web color, pillar and glass bedded. Barrel floated. Trigger shaped, and worked at a CLEAN 2.75-3 lbs. Talley LW's Lapped and bedded to receiver. Will sport a Zeiss 4.5-14x44 with Turrets. It is on its way to Zeiss for the turrets now. Recessed target crown #2 shilen 1/10" finished at 25 1/4" As she sits 7 lbs 6 oz .257 wby mag. Named it "El Chupacabra" The gun was put together by my gunsmith, and friend Garrett of Arizona Custom Rifle. He goes by "willie" on here

Funny you say that, I missed a CHIP shot on Sunday with Scout'm on a coyote...

Dude, don't take it too harsh. Alot of the Swaro crew guys are real touchy when ever anyone mentions any other binos... Gino ESPECIALLY!!! As long as you have binos that YOU like and YOU can find game with.. Who cares what brand they are.
-
It is 100% original, minus a trigger job. I did the trigger myself and it is a fair trigger. Not excellant, but not bad. About 3 lbs. I am not looking to sell, just trade for a high quality spotting scope.

I dont get it... What has changed from the "old" EL? I guess "If it aint broke, dont fix it." Doesnt apply... They will probably still be second in line to Leica though who continues to come out with new, improved stuff rather than the same ole same ole!
