firstcoueswas80 replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
They are quite a bit better than the first time I went out. I actually had one other group that printed .6.. It was the two in one hole, the third 1/2" off. I am pleased. -
Tyson, get a napkin and clean the slobber off of your keyboard!

Only thing about trying all those different powders is that gets $$$$... What I do, is pick a bullet/powder combo that looks appealing... (by appealing I mean the powder that produces the highest velocity, with the least amount of powder.) Then I take the bullet and powder charge and mess with different lenghts. Example: Started my .257 wby with the 100 TSX at 3.200" with H1000... Didnt really like the results. So I took the 3 mid-upper loads (no pressure signs) and changed the depths by .010... Looks like my gun likes it a little bit longer.. 3.210" produced 2 sub inch groups. From here, I will add .010 more and try and find the exact sweet spot. Gun has exactly 53 rounds down the tube and I have an acceptable load ready to go, but I will fine tune it to see if I can get it even better. Another thing that can be done if all else fails. Change primers.

That thing is amazing! Amazing mount for an amazing deer!

Last year, I put a guy on a small racked, big bodied 3x3 muley. 90 grain 4 blade Muzzy blew through him and made him bleed like a freakin siv! 32 yard shot, the buck went 30 yards... Maybe you guys remember the pic that I posted?? I stuck a pig at 22 yds with a 3 blade 100 gr muzzy blew through him like nothing. My verdict is that Rage would be decent on deer, and pigs. Prolly wouldnt use them on Muleys, or elk. Cant beat s fixed blade for the big stuff. I have never stuck anything with the Wac'ems but they fly great. I will have them on the end of my arrows come opening day of archery deer.

If I'm out scouting and they show aggression towards me is the only time I hammer them. If they slither away, I call it good. After saying that, I have only had a "bad" run in with one. -
Thats Casey's next goal to go with his LION casey loves the young ones This is true... Just ask Mike and his daughters! Other than that.... Its way to late, and I have way too much Crown Royal in my belly to think of something clever. OH! I smooched El Chupacabra earlier this morning, she kissed me back too

Probably around 350 to 400 depending on his diet. The biggest track I have ever saw was a 9 inch wide here in 24A but i have never seen him. People say he should way around 500 give or take a few. I have been tracking the 9 inch bear for 7 years now and can find were he sleeps, eat, and plays and yet I still can't even get a trail cam pic of him. But this year he is going to slip up he should be between 17 to 19 years old and when they get too old they slip up and BAM he is mine. Good luck everyone. Clay 17-19 yeard old?! Holy ish, that things as old as Christian!!!!!

New coues gun
firstcoueswas80 replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Well, I got it shooting... Printed under an inch today (yesterday technicially).. One group went about .7 or so... 2 or 3 of the other had two touching, and one about 1/2 inch off.. That must have been me! Woohoo! Best one from the day yesterday. From my cell phone. -
Bienvenidos. (prolly spelt wrong... sorry Scottyboy!)
-
Thats about average for that make. Would make a great donor action for a .257 wby or the likes...
-
06 will for sure at 300+... Hit my first buck at 341 for the first time, and about 430 the second round... And hes on my wall proudly.

When I was using my 30-06 for coues, I loaded 125 ballistic tips. They did the job, but blew up pretty decent on the shoulder of my first buck at over 400 yards...

Collared Dove
firstcoueswas80 replied to peckl1's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I have quite a few of them around my house. I also have chickens, and a 165 gallon pond in my back yar so I think they come often for feed and water. They are pretty big! -
Yep.... .257 bore... AKA quarter bore
