    Yellowstone

When at NAU, I did several studies on the Wolves of Yellowstone. I was amazed to see the immediate effect that wolves had on the population of elk and moose... something like 12% decline of elk, and 8% decline of moose... The second year wolves were in there!!! They were a natvie species to Yellowstone, re-introduced in the late 1990's. In all the studies that I did, I NEVER came across any studies that they clearly stated that wolves were the cause of the decline. They always blamed it on weather, drought, and a bad recruitment season. But, we all know that the wolves are causing the decline, none of the researchers want to admit it!

    Swarovski 8.5 x 42 EL

Allthough these binos say "Swarovski", they are pretty sweet! I personally have seem a 100 3/8" buck drop in his tracks with these binos, as well as looked at deer in 36B and in Mexico, so they work wonders internationally! Jim, that will cost you $300 please. You have the address!

    bobcat hunting?

First off, it aint that easy to kill a bobcat! Saying that IF you were to get a shot at one, I would want more than enough gun to knock it down so ya dont loose it. .223 or 22-250. shoot deer hunting bullets ( TSX, partition, TBBC) and youll be good.

What Caliber is most commonly used

Mike you dont want to do that! Stanley, it sounds like they probably made bad hits huh? One of the biggest myths out there is big guns make up for bad hits. Granted, they do provide a larger amount of room for error, but a gut shot deer, is a gut shot deer, no matter what gun it is shot with, ya dig? PS. 270, 270 wsm, 7 mag, 7 STW, 7 RUM are the best!

    36C Scare!

Scott, sadly if you initiated a gunfight while they are walking away you would be going to jail for murder.

    Skinning and fur handling

So, if I wanted to keep just the tail alone, what are the steps to keeping it preserved? I order a tail stripper, what should I put on the inside of the tail to keep it good? alum? salt?

    36C Scare!

That is why most of us carry hand guns down there. I never go down there with out mine. Even when I have my rifle for that exact reason. I wonder how they would have behaved if they saw you had a side arm?

    Skinning and fur handling

What do you think is a good way to preserve a cape? I cut the tail off of the coyote I killed this morning. I rolled the tail back on itself while skinning it. I got as much of the meat out as I could. When I got all out I could, I poured a 50/50 mix of Alum/ Epsom Salt into the tail to hopefully dry all the moisture out and preserve it. What do you think that will do?

    what bullet ?

If your concerned about pelts, try a TSX, trophy bonded bear claw, or partition. Ive got some partitions layin around im thinking of trying.

    Berger Bullets

John Barnesness wrote a article about the VLD's stating that they penetrated a few inches, then basically "blew up" rarely exiting. Yes, causing massive internal damage. But since when is 2-3 inches of penetration enough? Sure aint enought for me! That is unless of course I keep up the brain shots! ( they work well, Gino you should try em some time!) If you would like to trust a target bullet on the marginal shots, or the close shots be my guest. They are also designed to be seated waaaayyyyy out there... Touching the lands. This may or may not turn your rifle into a single shot type gun.

    Berger Bullets

Casey, I think the bottom line is that you have made up your little mind and no proof will change that. I am telling you THEY WORK!!! We are going to test them on Piggies in 2 weeks and I will give an HONEST update when get done. I would be a FOOL to use a product that does not perform as I would have hoped. If you talk to the people at or around Berger Bullets they will tell you that they developed a target bullet that has proven to be an excelent hunting bullet as well! Tim was looking for constructive Proof of good or bad, not the gut fellings of nay-sayers! And when and if Doug is kind enough to share his points of view on these bullets I am sure we will all grow from that solid information. However me... being the guy that I am.... will take the proof that 2 little girls gave me over the harsh down talk of a guy that has thrown 11 bullets at the last two deer that he has shot at. Peace-Out!!!!! Alright Gino, If I remeber correctly, you were no one shot wonder with your last buck correct? Of course the guys at Berger say their bullets are the best, what kind of marketing would it be if they didn't believe in their own stuff?

    what bullet ?

I shoot a Nosler Ballistic Tip through my 22-250.

    Scotty Boy

You should see the picture messages he sends me.... -34 degrees. thats enough to make any sane person want to move back!

    Berger Bullets

gino, just because you are 2/2 doesnt mean anything. that is a tiny sample size. bottom line is they are TARGET bullets! If Redrabbit decideds not to use them on a COUES because they are target bullets, thats gotta say something.
