Heard it was pretty ot over in 36b. hope it stays that way, ill be there next weekend! As for 34a, redrabbit and i didnt see ANY sign of rutting activity... I do think I have a picture of a fawn tryin to hump its mother though... not quite sure!

Awesome! john forgot to mention this is one of the bucks that him and i found the Thursday before the hunt. nice to see what he looks like up close.

UPDATE: Yesterday morning, 10 minutes into the hunt my set of Leicas find a GOOD buck... im talkin 1.5 miles i can see good main beams, width and mass... off we go! to no avail! Today: small buck 15 minutes into the hunt and thats about it. its tough out there! Between yesterday and today, we did about 16 miles. Its tough out there and its not from lack of trying!

Yep! BBD 15 minutes into the hunt! Saturday morning, my dad (Mick) my moms boss (Fred) and my self ( Coues killer ) woke up to go find Fred a buck. Well, it was extremly cozy in the trailer and 16 degress outside, so we over slept. We got to out our glassing point which is where I glassed up AzpackNhorns buck at about 8:30. I picked up my Leicas for a quick scan and found some deer! I threw them on my tripod and all I could see was horns! So Fred and myself threw on our packs and away we went! The buck was working his way down a finger, munching on barrel cactus on the way. We got to where I wanted to get and spotted the buck! At the same time that I saw him, he saw me and started off up the ridge. He wasn't spooked, but wasnt hanging around to see what we wanted. I ranged him at 335 trotting. Fred shot and missed low! Up the hill the buck went and fred shot again, JUST infront of him. The buck made it up to the base of the rimrock and I stopped him with a grunt in the best shooting lane possible! I told Fred to shoot him like he was 400 yards and down went the buck! The time was 8:42!!! Twelve minutes into Freds hunt we have a big buck down! Fred was shooting a 7Mag with 160 TSX and DUMPED this buck! Here are a few pictures! BTW, this makes us 3/3!

I am in a stand. Its load up there and i figure this is the only way to do it. I have tried ground blinds but i like it better up high. Would you take the one in the pic as your first one? He just seems kind of young, 2 1/2 or so. I am out of meat and the year is almost over, but i no how that story goes, during the last week he wont be there???? That could be a 1 1/2 year old deer with great genetics..... you are in 23..... Heck yes, you should shoot him!!! How do you know you won't blow it when a Monster comes in if you haven't killed one yet??? It truly surprises me how many people "pass up" animals larger than what they have already ground checked. I have 5 Coues with a bow..... my first was a forky and my last was a 108 1/8" Gross non-typical. Each buck that I have taken was larger than the last, but now I find myself wondering if I can pass up a buck that is over 100".... .... That would be tough for me. You ought to be happy to have an opportunity at any Coues with your bow and earn your badges one buck at a time. IMO. Welcome aboard! CnS SHOW OFF!!!! Gino, if you pass on a 100" buck with your bow, I will drive up to your po dunk hood, and whope yer arse myself!!!! comprende!
