Unfourtanetly, I never used a processor in Flag. I have only taken my stuff to WGP here in Tucson and have been nothing but pleased with them! When azpacknhorns killed his buck, we halued huevos to get it back to camp. as soon as we got it back to camp the thing was skinned. when we got back to my house the next am, we spent probably an hour rinsing it out and cutting wasted meat away. Now, this was a big heavy bodied buck and we took EXTREM care of it. When I picked it up to take the meat back to him, I'd be willing to bet there was 50+ lbs of meat if not more! Take in good meat, recieve it ALL back in good condition!

Mr. Sharpie!!
firstcoueswas80 replied to Kilimanjaro's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Well scott, gotta say it, you missed probably the best conditions of mearns that I have been on! Doug and I didnt see ANY birds in the am, but i think we got into about 6 coveys in the evening. I missed 2 birds that were BEGGING me to shoot them, but I did manage to get a double on two males. One was a mature, the other a juvey. Doug was hoggin all the birds, and his Weatherby was on fire. He ended up with 6 birds in 7 or 8 shots! It was COLD and wet! the mutts would have loved it! -
Can you say dream girl!! WooHoo Mine are of the hook No way Mike! gotta have as many hooks out there as possible to land one great fish! And HOLY CRAP that buck is HUGE!!!!!

firstcoueswas80 replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
If I EVER become immune to buck fever, that is the last hunt I will participate in. Now, I know I have no excuses ( i didnt have any on the 23 shots I have taken on 4 deer) either! Now, I know my rifle can make the shots, its just up to me lol! -
Nicely done! id put him in the high 70's and low 80's range as well!

Coues Rifle: READY!!!
firstcoueswas80 replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
i really wouldnt call that a group you should ashoot at least 4 shots but not bad good luck on your hunt With raw materials and metal at the price they are, 2 shots will work for me, especially when they are that close at that distance off of a backpack/bipod combo! -

I have the Jim White adapter for my Leicas as it is much better than the one Leica provides. Like has been said, the head can fall out. My Leicas have fallen out but thank god they fell into my lap, not on the rocks I was sitting on! ( And of course this is the first time I EVER took them out into the field!)

Dang Brian, you are old! Guess im gonna have to wait up for you this year in the hills -
Your right bout the books being conservative.. I believe my 270WSM is shooting 1-2 grains above listed max with nothing more than the regular WSM pressure signs. and I get awesome accuracy and velocity!
-
heck of a buck.. sure has a tiny body!
-
I like that idea of working up to max, I have never done that. I always look at the max in the book, then go about 2-3 grains below max and work up.

Does CW.com help your "Fever"???
firstcoueswas80 replied to cjw2222's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
haha ya i cant blame ya.its been my first choice for quite some time now and FINALLY i get the chance to hunt it. Should be an awesome time regardless of the bucks, although i sure have an arsenal of, shall we say, shooters ;) welcome to the site.. the fever can not be cooled. believe me! I have been here since day one, and I am hooked and I wouldnt want it any other way! and no, it doesnt help! -
I like to start with the length that is as long as my magazine will fit and go from there. I will pick out one bullet ( for me its 140 accubond both in .277 and .284) and load from there. I will try the powder that offers the best speed in the book and go from there. If you have tried everything with no luck, change the primers. that can make a big difference!

thats not a stud first elk, thats a stud 100th elk! awesome! looks like a heck of a shot! there not gonna go far when ya hit em like that!

New B&C World Record Coues
firstcoueswas80 replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
bill, you better stop agreeing with lark, we all know thats not good for your health or image! Lark, I'm getting good on my banjo! -
Shoot groups of three. if a load shows promise ( it shoots under 1" for 3 shots) load up groups of 5 going half a grain above and below that group. which ever of the 3 (above, dead on, and below) shoots the best.. load up 5 more and make sure the results duplicate. If they do, then you have a winner!
