a possible solution i had though of was this: have the binos affixed to his position before shooting. after the shot, if he is gone, look through the binos and see if it is possible to see blood, broken rocks or hopefully, a dead deer. if the dead deer is not there, i was thining using marking tape and put several pieces around the exact place i was shooting from, range the area again and when i get to the general direction of where the buck was, range back to where the tape is and go from there turning over every rock for blood or a deer. how does that sound? thanks for the long reply!

How early should hunt camp be setup?
firstcoueswas80 replied to scoutm's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
usually, i like to set up camp atleast the day before the hunt. that way dad and i can go out thursday night and look for some bucks for friday am. this year, since we have the whole november hunt, i will be leaving flagstaff at 130 get home, get all the stuf ready and leave bright and early friday. -

TAM, if i was going to get a WBY for deer sized game with an elk hunt thrown in every so often, it would be the 270 wby mag also. i currently use a 270 wsm and my dad uses a 7RUM.

i have the Danner elk hunters made for cabelas. my first hunt with these boots ( my pig/lion combo) sucked! the boots were not broke in like i though and the 6 miles stalking and the 9 miles packing out for the lion really tore up my feet! than agian, that was in some of the nastiest stuff i have hiked through, but they were broke in after that! this past weekend, i quail hunted in them for about 6 hours in the pouring rain, by the end of the day, my feet were soaked, but i dont expect any boot to stay water tight in those conditios. another boots to check out are browning boots, i have one pair and they are very comfortable!

Good Pack Needed ASAP!!!
firstcoueswas80 replied to azcouesandelk's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
i have the X1, it is not what you are looking for as it is too small, but i have another pack and is over 5000 if i need it. the X1 is awesome, i usually have trouble with the waist belt staying around my waist but this one doesnt have that nearly as badly as the others. i really like it. -
the moly coating is the only difference. the bullet is the same, just the coating that is used to usually get more barrel life, and i have heard a FEW more FPS. i have also heard it is very tough to get it all out of a barrel that has gotten used to shooting moly bullets. i do not shoot moly from any of my guns

Christian, give Barska a chance man! not all guns can handle the huge recoil from that powerful .243... especially with the heavy, bulldog weight 80-90 grain bullets! -
