    bullet selection

another vote for the Accubond, because of doug ( RedRabbit) i have loaded accubonds in my 7mag, 270wsm, 7 ultra, 30-06, and 270. they are very accurate and are suppposed to be top notch! they killed two coues bucks this year with no complaints! one from my dads 7RUM, and one from my 270wsm. i have only loaded interbonds one time, they grouped .75 through my 270wsm with a random powder, and random lenght... defientaly some potential!

    Recurve Deer

Matt, did you not see littlebear in his pictures? he is about 150lbs! a bull would buck him off like nothing! hahah just given ya chit! Katy sent me those pictures and i was amazed! them are some big ole bulls! myself, i like going for the smaller, easier to pack out, better tasting spikes ( atleast thats what i claim)

    not a coues but ouch

ditto everyone else, looks like a good shot! if he was shot with a 300 RUM he would not be moving right now that is for sure! but yes he does look skinny and unhealthy, i give him another month if that!

Jack, i just noticed that and was about to ask how his head is not resting on that whole main beam. the more i look at it the faker it looks.

    I did it again

"missing a slam dunk shot and thought "how can you miss that? I could hit that every time" i went into my deer hunt thinking the same way... i would hear people bust out 3,4,5,6 shots and i would say to my dad, man they suck! i would have dropped that buck on the first shot! well, low and behold when my chance came to drop a buck in his track ( 200 yards, standin still broadside!) i CHOKED! i,eventually ( 9 shots, and 51 yards later to be exact) had my 3rd coues deer down! i blame it on the gun, the fact that putting a buck in the crosshairs made the gun mis-fire, but in all reality, just like in your case, it was probably 100% shooter error! like it has been said many times, thats why it is called hunting and not shooting!

Question about which rifle to buy???

i second what doug says (RedRabbit) i say keep the gun and tune it how you like it, if that includes gettin it rebarrled that would be cheaper than getting a new gun. i have a 270wsm, 30-06 and 7mag. my 30-06 with 180 grainers kicks the hardest out of all of them but it is by far the lightest.

    What Worked and What Didn't?

Lets see here: 270wsm made by Bettin Custom guns: gun is a tad heavy but over all not bad. shoots very well, except when there is a buck in the crosshairs, then the accuracy goes to poo!!!! in that gun used 140 gr Nosler Accubonds: seemed to work well as there was a lot of damage to the area of the buck that i hit several times, accuracy on the bench was superb! Zeiss 15x60's worked well, i didnt spot many deer this hunt but when i did, i could tell what they were! Velbon Chaser efl-4: (bought from amanda) this tripod is very sturdy! one thing i didnt like was when i would get it in just the right spot, one of the legs would slide out. Mad Dog pack- this pack works very well for the price! it has a rifle carrier on the outside that i use to carry my tripod. when we knocked our bucks down, i put the tripod inside the pack, put either my rifle or my dads in the rifle holder, and put the deer on my back and away i went! like sundevil, the hip wasit strap came up around my gut and was not all that comfortable and had to keep adjusting. leupold vxIII 4.5-14x40 Varmint Reticle Scope. if i could do it again, i would get the boone and crockett scope. at different times, the varmint reticle is difficult to see. when my buck was bedded under a tree dieing at 251 yards, i cranked the scope up to 14 power and it was blury. not enough time in the field to adjust the side focus, had to go back down to about 9 power. the boone and crockett is easier to see.
