so, as you all know it took me a ton of shots to kill my deer this year with a rifle that regilously produces 1/2 inch groups with the load i was carrying! well the other day i went out and shot it and my new 7mag, the groups wer between 1 1/2-2 inches! i was like what the heck! so today i took the rest of the bullets i have from that batch apart and found out i was over my load by more than a grain! might not sound like a lot but when i have shot the 1 grain over (65.5) the groups really opened up! i was realoding on a broken scale! so maybe there is hope for me to have a one shot kill one of these days!

thats what i like! what really happened, is i tried to get him to run and he didnt run so i kept shooting then when he ran, im such a good shot, i hit him 3 or 4 times before he could fall!!! and as to a new rifle this is the most accurate rifle i have! and it is the second best caliber ever ( according to lark) it is a 270wsm (270 being first)

cold? it said 1 degree in town ( about 7000feet) we were above 8,000 so im thinking atleast -2 or -3 when we got on stand, i have on sweat pants, pants, 2 pairs of sockcs, a t shirt, long sleeve t shirt, a really really thick long sleeve a down jacket, heade net and 2 pairs of gloves, i was ok lol

there were two holes in her: one the size of a grape fruit and one the size of a orange. the coyote was facing us and the big one ( from dougs vmax varmint bullet) was on the corresponding side to where dougs exit would have been. the orange size one was on the corresponding exit side with my accubond. SO doug and i put 2+2 together and came up with since we shot at the same time, this is what happened!

Ernesto,. i knew someone would bring that up. ACTUALLY it only took me one shot! AND i hit her good on the first one! man talk about pelt damage it was bad! the cool thing was doug and i shot at almost EXACTLY the same time! man was that fun and like he said, it was my first! man what a blast!

DAMNIT you saw right through me! az, 1 1/2 inches at 100 is like 3 at 200. and i missed between 3-5 inches away from a good shot, still kniced the lungs, but not much more than that!

when my grandad pased, i inhertied many guns from him. most of them are off the wall guns that no one has heard of. i have a OLD savage 22 that RedRabbit has seen that i got from my grandad, a remington 721 .270 that, with 140 accubonds will shoot as good/ better than my CUSTOM made 270 wsm. the 721 is beat all to heck and has knicks and dings all over the place but it is probably my favorite gun! i also got a 30-30 that is so old it doesnt even say 30-30, it says 30 W.C.F. now, back to the topic, i think that any of the .284 caliber guns are the best guns for deer. sorry lark. but they produce more velocity with higher energy than thet .277 and shoot a bigger bullet. that being said, i have a 7mag and my dad has a 7 ultra mag.

i have a 270, 270wsm, 7mag, 243. i reload. which is the best round with any bulletfor piggies? i also have a .40 and .45 as well as 30-30 i will be hunting in 36c. what should i load and take? Lark, i know to take my 270 and banjo.

i dont agree on getting him one rifle that he can shoot everything with. the LAST thing you want to do is get him a rifle that kicks him too much for him to be afrad to shoot it or develop a flinch. trust me on this one! get him a rifle that fits him and then if he grows out of it or wantsa bigger caliber, do i like my dad and i did, he bought me my first gun and we split ( like 90% me and 10% him) my second rifle.

deerslam, depending on the size of your son, be careful! my little brother, who will be 10 in Feb, is TINY ( ask RedRabbit) i wanted the 7mm-08 but opted for a .243 because i dont want the recoil to be hard on him. that is the big thing is felt recoil, if he starts on a flinch, he will have it for a while, i started on a 308 with a steel but plate and had a flinch for a while!

my vote is for 270wsm or 270. i own both and neither kick hard ( the WSM does weigh in at about 10lbs though) and they are very effective guns. tell him to suck it up a lil!

i love dogs as well, i hate pit bulls but no dog deserves this. i hope this person rots in jail for this even if it was a pitbull! if it wasnt for my old rottweiler, i would either have no face or would not be here. to make a long story short, at 8 or 9 years old a pitbull charged me and my rott said that aint gonna fly, my rott took this pit out of mid flight and ripped his throat out 3 feet from my face!
