    Developing Loads

when i was gettins started, i ordered winchester brass for all my rifles. because i am on a tught budget, that is what i ordered, Lapua and Norma brass are both 'better' so if the budget will allow it, thats what i would get. as far as bullets, pick the one you want to use and load it with different powders and primers. if nothing shows potential, then mess with the over all length

    7 R.U.M.

the RUM is a caliber that is meant for the reloader, i reload for my dads and it actually is a dang good shooter! the Sciroccos may or may not shoot well though, i have always heard they have been very hit or miss in accuracy.

    some reloadin stuff

cleaned out the bench today and came away with some extra sutff .284 139 gr hornady interlock about 90 or more in the box, $18 .284 140 gr sierra game kings about 90+ in box also $15 .277 130 TSX about 40+ in box, $25 BRAND NEW RCBS powder throw. never assembled, never used not in origianl box. make offer BRANE NEW RCBS 5-0-5 scale. scale is brand new, never used, origiankl box... the works.. now the catch, the thing fell off of my reloading bench and busted the smalle foot that goes on the front to make it hold zero. a very easy fix, just get a screw tap, pull it out and put in a new screw how about $40? 7mm mag RCBS dies, used in fair condition. they are they older style and have small amounts of rust build up but nothing that will cause any harm they came to me that way. how bout $15 bag of about 25 or so 25-06 brass remington grass, looks unfired $15 i need: 270wsm unfired winchester brass, 7mm mag unfired winchester brass, high quaility unfired 30-06 brass, .277 140 accubonds. will work out trades, all items DO NOT INCLUDE SHIPPING, WHICH IS BUYERS RESPONSIBILITY.

    Developing Loads

wehen developing a load it is key to make sure that the shooting environment ( weather, noise, concentrtion level, very few cups of coffee in the morning) is basically perfect. you do not want to shoot with a cross wind, but a head wind or tail wind is not bad. when Redrabbit and i started looking over loads for my 270wsm, we loaded 3 different powders Ramshot Magpro, H4831sc, and H4350. the groups with magpro were all 1.5-2" now, every group tested with H4831sc was around an inch or less including several groups going 1/4 or less including my personal best that was .184. it is amazing how much powder difference can make a or break a group. not just the amount of powder, but also the type. my 7mag shows very good potential with h4350 but does not like h4831sc. with federal 215 magnum match primers, it shot about 1 1/4 inches, i used the same load, same brass, same powder and chagrge, same OAL, same bullet but changed to a remington 9 1/2 primer and it went printed a .750 inch group, the best that rifle has ever shot. very little minor things can greatly change a load and the accuracy it prints. if you mess around enough, you will find a very good load. dont count out the TSX, Accubond, Interbond yet, also dont count on the Failsafes as i believe they are being discontinued ( I also think they are too stiff for coues and will have a hard time opening up) play around, have some fun and see what else the gun likes

    270 WSM

270wsm of mine ( see the post "our guns dont shoot worth a hoot") is as follows: Scope is a Zeiss conquest 4.5-14x50 with target turrets... LOVE IT bullet is handloaded 140 accubond. i have a 4.5-14x40 leupold on my 22-250 and it is nice, but does not compare to my Zeiss!

    any new gear this year?

i think this has been posted every year, but its good to talk about before the draw! i will be either taking out my 7mag or my good ole .270wsm but sporting a new piece of glass. still the saem zeiss 15x60's and velbon tripod as last year. will be wearing Danner Elk hunter boots and an eberlestock x1 pack. wore this combo on my lion/pig hunt. was super impressed with the pack, the boots needed more breaking in but are good to go now(with some duct tape on the heels) new Garmin Rino 110 radio/GPS' which are awesome!

    BREAKING IN A NEW RIFLE

When Doug and i were breaking in my Kimber 22-250, we did shoot one shot, clean one shot clean etc for the first 10 shots. then we shot 2 shots and clean for the next 10 shots. then, i shot between 3-5 round groups and cleaned after each group. the gun is at about 80 rounds now and the groups are still getting tighter.

Our Rifles Can't Shoot Worth a Hoot

Lee, i played baseball for 13 years, the arm aint that bad now granted, i might have a much better chance at actually hitting the buck with the bullets from the gun! hahaha! Daryl! you the man! thats exactly what i am hoping! im gonna baf a booner bear this weekend, then a booner coues in november! i have the target turrets dialed and ready to roll out to 500 yards with the wsm! the sad thing is Doug isnt even carrying that rifle for the bear hunt!!!! thats his back up rifle!!! me on the other hand, i carry my 270wsm for everything elk, deer, coyotes! Coues7, ya gotta know how to flunch, do you think Doug and i are really good shots? well were not, we can just flinch with the best of em

Our Rifles Can't Shoot Worth a Hoot

if i get rid of buck fever, ill get rid of all my rifles, optics, and hang my hunting hat up for ever. now the fever before the shot... yes, that i need to get rid of no doubt!!! im betting $20 though, if i shoot a buck this year, it will be with under 5 shots! heck, it might even be 1 MAYBE 2! depends, if hes out there a ways, i may send the first one off, and not see it land and shoot the 2nd one just to have the 1st hit right before the second but as lark would say " it aint a 7mm-08"

    now the work begins

i have been running between 1.5 and 2 miles with my fat dog 3-5 times a week. as well as lifting weights at my house. i am pretty active at work and am pretty strong as it is but i am working on gettin better. my main thing is i have been working on my legs! when i get the chances, i have been taking my dogs out and my pack with what i will carry in it when i hunt along with 10-20 extra pounds. i am gettin serious this hunting season as it is 80+ or bust so i am gettin ready for a tough hunt.
