down in tucson, my old white ford with a blue camper shell has (or had, dont know if dad took it off) a round white one with the buck in the background. its REALLY crooked so he might have taken it off... here is my coues set up(s) Top: remington model 700 7mm mag Zeiss conquest 3-9x50. this gun is a new edition but showed promise when testing hand loads. i have i think 7 or 8 groups of 120 TSX loaded up to test. the gun now wears a different stock, i have a classic BDL stock on it with the ebony for end tip. bottom. custom 270wsm leupold 4.5-14x40 LR varmint reticle. built on mauser 98 action, richards mocrofit thumbwhole stock. shoots 140 accubonds at 3250 in little wholes!

the 140 accubond from my dads RUM hit the left rear leg bone, smashed it and continued on through with controlled expansion. now, on the other hand, when he shot the buck again at 20 yards, it blew the heck out of the lungs and spine.

Lance, have you let the air out of anything with your 7RUM? if so, how did the remington factory rounds perform? my dads 7RUM with hand loaded 140 accubonds went through a whole coues deer! about 150 yard shot, came in the left butt cheek, traveled all through the body and exited right infront of the shoulder, 50 cent piece sized whole.

DBarcher, triggers on remingtons are super easy, i was shown one time how to do it by RedRabbit, and i have done about 3-4 more since then. what bullet is everyone shooting? right now, i am shooting 140 accubonds from my 270 wsm and 270 winnie. my dads 7RUM also likes 140 accubonds. i am working up a load for my 7mag with 120 TSX. for the 270 AI, i will work up a 130 TSX load, or maybe go with interbonds, they shot well out of my 270wsm

i want to trade or sell my remington rand .45 gun is nickel plated, comes with 2 math grad barrels, 2 match grade bushing, math trigger installed and tuned, custom hammer, custom dove tail safety, match grade spring kit installed, 5 magazines 2 chip mccormick 8 rounders, leather holster, rubber cole finger groove grips ad the grips shown. also comes with original barrel, original busing, original trigger, original hammer, original dove tail safety, and all original springs. basically, all this gun is missing is the finish and original grips. i am trying to get $650 for it, but would like to trade for 22-250, 220swift some sort of varmint round (not 223)

my post is gonna be kinda long, motly cause i have a few different rifles i carry and i love gear! rifle one: Bettin Custom guns 270wsm. built on a mauser action, richards microfit thubmwhole stock, leupold 4.5-14x40 varmint reticle. spitting out 140 accubonds with 64.5 grains of h4831sc at 3250. second rifle: remington 700 bdl 7mag. have never hunted with this rifle, just got it about 6-8 months ago. classic bdl monte carlo stock, 3-9x50 Zeiss conquest. gun shows lots of potential with hand loads of the 140 accubond flavor. 3rd rifle: remington model 721 in good ole .270. rifle is beat to heck, nicked, scratched and dented. the simmons aetec that sits atop of it is the same way, but ya know what? i wouldnt trade it for a $25,000 rifle, this thingis my baby, shoots absolutely lights out with federal facotry 140 accubonds. rifle in the works: workin on tradin my remington rand for a 270 AI. gun is a custom made, on mauser action, number 5 douglas barrel. gonna try and get it to spit 130 TSX. rifle 4, winchester model 70 25-06. boyds stock, leupold 3-9x40 sits atop of it. right now it is my varmint gun and shoots 75 vmax well. need to tweak the loads and see if i can get them smaller than 1/2 inch. pack is eberlstock x1 pack. first hunt with it was my javelina/lion combo WOW !!! i am impressed! zeiss 15x60's sit atop a velbon chaser EFL4a tripod (bought from amanda) i dont have or carry any 8 or 10x binoculars. dads set up is remington 700 RMEF edition 7RUM spittpin out 140 accubonds in tiny wholes. very accurate gun! topped with a leupold 4.5-14x40 B&C. the only thing done to this rifle is the trigger job, and i hand load for it. it is a sweet gun (no need for a muzzle brake)

bunnies? how about small children, dogs, great danes an adult every now and then. i would feel under gunned with my .45 if i came across that thing! i think i might just piss it off!

see, this is why it takes me so many shots to harvest my game, you all dont understand how i work. 1st shot warning shot, get the buck excited, let him know im there 2nd shot, gets the running 3rd shot, stops them from running 4th shot, usually, if i havent hit yet, i hit with this one. this one is usually a pretty good shot, but that doesnt stop me 5th shot, if not deceased, they are a good 400-500 yards away, this is another warning shot 6th shot, this one is the doozy, this one finishes them off 7th shot, security shot, just to be sure 8th shot, i think it moved, better shoot again 9th shot, twitched when number 8 landed this is how i always have long shots!

the one time i ever hunted october was a very,very tough hunt. we saw 3 bucks in all for days of hunting (2 of them hit the dirt) and i shot the smallest buck i have ever seen on the last afternoon of the hunt. i will not put in for october again. i almost am to the point where i would rather not hunt than hunt in octber, but is not THAT bad.

where do u hunt where you have to carry a gun that shoots a slug dang near 1/2 inch? thats where i wanna work!

i also hike with a round in the chamber. if i am going to hand my gun off to my dad, i take the round out. i have seen a lot of shows, mostly hunting in mexico where they jack a round in right before they shoot, is it illegal in mexico to hunt with a round in the chamber?

if lark carries his .270 he might be ok, but by golly you put another rifle in his hands and he might not shoot that well!!! i have a custom rifle that Todd Bettin sells for $3,500 (kinda expensive) topped with a leupold 4.5-14x40 varmint reticle, i am pretty sure i could make the shot on my bipod. that is, as long as its not an actuall deer, i cant hit deer to save my life!

desertsheep. i spent along time preparing for that long shot. i have practiced many times and thought it was with in my range so i took it. yes, i got lucky and made a lethal shot! now, on to the comment. there are many people here who can hit a gong or whatever at 400-500 yards ( heck i probably could as long as its not something alive lol!) with the new technology and ballistics programs and scope targt turrets, in all honesty with the right equipment and knowledge its not too terribly hard to be able to do this. but be ethical and pick shots wisely.

i am going to start reloading my 30-06 for elk, this is the primary use of this gun so i want to know what would be the best. 165 accubond 180 accubond 180 tsx 200 tsx 180 interbond 200 accubond? looking for decent FPS but i want it to hit like a ton of bricks i have hear a lot about the TSX just drilling through so that is at about the bottom of my list.

both the coyotes i have ever taken have ben called in by Doug. lol i joke with him that maybe one of these days ill actually let him shoot the dog he calls in!
