the pride alone in seeing a group that you have hand loaded shoot a 3 shot group smaller than a penny is worth it. then, actually harvesting a animal let alone finding the bullet is also a sense of pride. i remember the pride i felt when i pulled the 165 sierra game king i had just used to take my 2nd elk... awesome! then seeing the couse from my dads rifle fall with the bullet i have loaded, and the coues fall with the bullet i loaded for my own rifle... worth it! and you can not beat the accuracy once you find a pet load!

Moose & Caribou Combo!
firstcoueswas80 replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
take a .338 win mag and be done with it! will lay the heck out of any moose out there! in 100% honesty, i am super jealous. i hate to admit this, but i think i would rather go on a guided moose/caribou hunt in alaska than a guided coues hunt in mexico! i dont know why that is but i think i would. have fun and when you kill a moose, you better send me a few pounds of meat! -
looks like a german short hair. good lookin dog. i dig the name. "hunter" ( but in spanish) thats a good name. i am a spanish minor at NAU and my dogs name is Ojos, he has 2 different colored eyes! good day in the woods!

how come i am the only person being pointed out in this conversation? honeslty, the reason that i did not know he had testicles is i didnt know where to look! i thought if he would have had a pecker and testicles, they would be out there in the open like a deer. no judging the size of the cat: in the picture where i am standing with it, keep in mind i am a honest 6'3 255 lbs. not a smal guy and that cats feet are only 3-4" off the ground, the "et al" part, my buddy has shot a few cats and he guessed them both to be around 2 years of age. he may be way off, you may be way off no real way to tell until i take the tooth to the AZGFD. i will be the first person to tell you that i dont know squat about lions. the first time i had EVER seen a lion was from about 20-25 feet away, while i was raising my rifle to shoot it! i do however, think that the cat i shot is a little older than you guessed but i am not sure. but welcome to the forum anyhow.

i would stay away from the 6mm, tough to find ammo on. i have a 25-06 and ammo is limited, but i reload so its not a big deal. i got mins specifcially for varmints, coyotes, prarie dogs. and as a 3rd or 4th round couse gun ( behind 270wsm, 7mag, 270) i really like the caliber and you cant beat 75 grain Vmax movin along at 3500-3700 FPS!!!

josh, thanks for the info.. shouldnt i have seen the pecker when i was skinning and gutting him out? -
Christian, i have Zeiss on my 7mag and leupolds on my 25-06, 30-06, 270wsm, dads 7RUM. the zeiss is a sweet piece of glass with the laser etched reticle it is extremly nice. i would strongly suggest buying them from ebay, i have saved over $600 buying them from there. check out http://cgi.ebay.com/ZEISS-3-9X40-CONQUEST-...1QQcmdZViewItem this seller, they sell a lot of stuff and you can get them cheap!

Long range 22 cal. bullet results on Coues
firstcoueswas80 replied to 105Coues's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
i would not use a .223 on deer. i used a .223 to take my pig and it worked well, mostly because of where the bullet entered, traveled and what it hit on the way in ( and no, this was not a perfect shot) -
no, no, no! not 20 yards.... 20 FEET

couldnt have said it better! i know he helped me! he was blowing the wind in my face instead of towards the cats! i will never forget stepping on the other side of the rocks and seeing that cat sitting there having no idea i was there! i wish i could get a life size! it is way too much and i have no where to put it! i really wish i could, it would be awesome!! it really meant a lot to me to shoot this lion with my grandpas gun... my dad shot his first deer and elk with the gun and now i have shot my first cat with it! i love the gun, and i would not sell it for the world! 25-06, im not a litle guy, that HUGE lion just makes me look small hahaha thank you all for the comments! it is a hunt i will never forget!
-
no offense taken, just wanted to tell everyone it is not a spotted cat, it is about a 2 year old female, and the other one was her sister.... alsmost forgot to say... when we were following the blood from the second lion "heres some, o heres some more, OH SH!@#!@# THERE SHE IS AND SHES ALIVE LOOKING AT ME!!!! ( 15 FEET THIS TIME) so my buddy puts another round in his lion from about 15 feet! talk about getting the blood going!!!!! there was a herd of deer that busted out about 300-400 yards below the cats after the shootin started!

THE LION DOES NOT HAVE SPOTS, IT IS A TOTALLY LEGAL LION, IT WAS 2 SISTER LIONS, IT HAS NO SPOTS... THE PICTURE QUALITY IS VERY BAD, VERY CHEAP DIGITAL CAMERA
