  2. Great story, what an encounter. Too bad about your trophies.

As for the fella with the negative comments, I once read, " don't worry about the stick in your brothers eye, when you have a log sticking out yours!" What's in your closet??????

This site is for us to associate with others with similar interests, not beat each other up when given the opportunity. Grace does go a long way.

    Thanks for the post.

  3. I am new to your site and I gotta' tell ya', I am IMPRESSED with Amanda and all you usual contributors! Fantastic content!

And the photos and vids -- Holy Buckets! Awesome!

I am a relatively inexperienced Coues Deer hunter (hunted them twice with a rifle, successful on small buck in Unit 33, once). But I have to tell you that I think I'm addicted to the little grey ghosts and the country they call home... I recently returned from an archery elk hunt in 6A South where I was blessed to harvest my first bull elk and my first-ever archery kill. Now I'm itching to turn my attention to trying to bag a Coues Deer with stick and string. That's a pretty tall order, I know...

What I'm wondering is if any of you guys might be able to point me in the right direction as to where to start scouting in Unit(s) 21, 24A and 24B. I'm not looking for somebody to give me the key to their secret honey hole, but I'd like to see if there are some areas, not too far from the Valley, where I might be able to get into some good whitetail country. I could go down and hunt the Catalinas or the Rincons in 33, but I'd like to find something closer to town, if possible. I shirked my responsibilities to family, work and church quite a bit in preparation for and during my elk hunt so that's why I'm hoping to find something that I can get in and out of for day trips prior to and during the archery season.

Any recommendations/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Really the AZGFD website gives a really good synopsis of where to locate Coues in the units you are looking at. If you follow that info up with some homework you can find some good areas.

    Good luck

The only thing that may need to be worked on is the parking break, it's a little worn after 3 years. Probably needs pads.

    $6000.00

I can send pictures for those that are serious buyers. I am not interested in trades.

    Thanks,

  5. I think it may benefit you hunting during the week. The majority will be there for opening weekend only. One of my best bucks came the following Friday in an area that was littered with hunters the prior weekend. Once the deer feel the pressure they will shutdown and wait til pressure lightens up. I have had this happen in the southern units as well.

I second the thought of getting off the beaten path and checking the overlooked areas. Most people don't want to work that hard.

    Good luck,

  6. I don't know one way or the other, But from a physics stand point I will shy away from shots through loose screens. I make sure my screens are as tight as I can get them. I just have to believe a loose screen adds drag to the arrow. I shot through a tight screen and connected fine. I watched a buddy shoot through a loose screen and he did not connect (Multiple times). Could be just a coincidence.

  7. That's too bad. I hate to hear that. The two best around here are Bill Gibbons and Tony Marquez. Tony trained my first dog and mostly trained me. He helped me with my second a little but wanted to do most by myself. If you want those guys numbers, just PM me. It's not too late to have the dog trained for bird season. We never take dogs out (Hunting) until after Thanksgiving because of snakes.

I have referred lots of people to Tony and have never had anyone come back unsatisfied. When he ssays 90 days...he means it. If it is less then you get your dog back and don't have to pay for the extra time not used. If it takes longer, he will not charge you any more.

    Good luck.
