Hey all posting this form my friends.
Hi Guys,
Sadly, we came home without "Grinder" today. I am going to place a few ads and we left message with all the campers on the way out. We are very worried and hope he finds people and shelter. Just want to get the word out that he was missing. If you or any of your friends hear or see anything, please contact us.

Was down Javi hunting and the carp deer were hot! I saw a group of deer (15) 4 were bucks. The dominant buck spent all of his time chasing the smller ones off. This was in the SE corner of the state.

Thank you for your recommendations. I will inquire with them all. I figured there were a lot of folks here that would know better than me. It's quite a bit of money, just want to know we are spending it well.
Again, many thanks!

Hey all,
Me and a buddy are looking into a guided lion hunt. Do any of you have any solid recommendations? What do these hunts typically run? I've talked to a couple guys, but I am not totally sold.
Thank you for your help.

Great story, what an encounter. Too bad about your trophies.
As for the fella with the negative comments, I once read, " don't worry about the stick in your brothers eye, when you have a log sticking out yours!" What's in your closet??????
This site is for us to associate with others with similar interests, not beat each other up when given the opportunity. Grace does go a long way.
Thanks for the post.

Great story, sucks the southern part of the state has that black eye because it is maybe the greatest part. Disregard some of the $^&$%&*! remarks, someone always got something negative to say.

THat's all fish stories....no whities down low.

What a stud buck and killer that you can do it with your son. IS that difficult to hunt in NM? Please let me know. I would love to try and hunt NM for Coues.
Thanks for posting,

Nice buck, it lools like a pretty mature buck. After hunting midwestern whities I learned to age bucks and by those standards I would say that buck is close to four years old. My guess is that buck will never be much more than what he is. In the end it comes down to genes and food and water availability to that deer.

And access off Klondyke is pretty much limited to foot access. At least it was a few years back.

I am new to your site and I gotta' tell ya', I am IMPRESSED with Amanda and all you usual contributors! Fantastic content! And the photos and vids -- Holy Buckets! Awesome!
I am a relatively inexperienced Coues Deer hunter (hunted them twice with a rifle, successful on small buck in Unit 33, once). But I have to tell you that I think I'm addicted to the little grey ghosts and the country they call home... I recently returned from an archery elk hunt in 6A South where I was blessed to harvest my first bull elk and my first-ever archery kill. Now I'm itching to turn my attention to trying to bag a Coues Deer with stick and string. That's a pretty tall order, I know...
What I'm wondering is if any of you guys might be able to point me in the right direction as to where to start scouting in Unit(s) 21, 24A and 24B. I'm not looking for somebody to give me the key to their secret honey hole, but I'd like to see if there are some areas, not too far from the Valley, where I might be able to get into some good whitetail country. I could go down and hunt the Catalinas or the Rincons in 33, but I'd like to find something closer to town, if possible. I shirked my responsibilities to family, work and church quite a bit in preparation for and during my elk hunt so that's why I'm hoping to find something that I can get in and out of for day trips prior to and during the archery season.
Any recommendations/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Really the AZGFD website gives a really good synopsis of where to locate Coues in the units you are looking at. If you follow that info up with some homework you can find some good areas.
Good luck

Call Dave Higgins of the Cochise Bird Dog Club, he knows everyone and could recommend. If you want a good trainer up here, then I recommend Tony Marquez of Desert Creek Kennels 623.512.8496. He has trained two of mine and myself. I owe a lot of what I know to him. I have sent several people to him and never got a complaint.

Hey all,
I am preparing to buy a new Ranger after the new year and doing so I may
sell my 2005.

Hella Offroad Lights on Front Bumper
Street Legal
Canvas Top
Goodyear Mud Tires
3 vertical gun mounts in the Bed

The only thing that may need to be worked on is the parking break, it's a little worn after 3 years. Probably needs pads.

I can send pictures for those that are serious buyers. I am not interested in trades.
Thanks,

I think it may benefit you hunting during the week. The majority will be there for opening weekend only. One of my best bucks came the following Friday in an area that was littered with hunters the prior weekend. Once the deer feel the pressure they will shutdown and wait til pressure lightens up. I have had this happen in the southern units as well.
I second the thought of getting off the beaten path and checking the overlooked areas. Most people don't want to work that hard.
Good luck,

I don't know one way or the other, But from a physics stand point I will shy away from shots through loose screens. I make sure my screens are as tight as I can get them. I just have to believe a loose screen adds drag to the arrow. I shot through a tight screen and connected fine. I watched a buddy shoot through a loose screen and he did not connect (Multiple times). Could be just a coincidence.

That's too bad. I hate to hear that. The two best around here are Bill Gibbons and Tony Marquez. Tony trained my first dog and mostly trained me. He helped me with my second a little but wanted to do most by myself. If you want those guys numbers, just PM me. It's not too late to have the dog trained for bird season. We never take dogs out (Hunting) until after Thanksgiving because of snakes.
I have referred lots of people to Tony and have never had anyone come back unsatisfied. When he ssays 90 days...he means it. If it is less then you get your dog back and don't have to pay for the extra time not used. If it takes longer, he will not charge you any more.
Good luck.

Yeah, I heard the coat thing works too. I believe they went back down there today to look some more. He had to come back last night because he was with some others that had to be back.
I will keep you posted. Lots of people in that area so we just have to keep our fingers crossed.
