Ok, I found a few other items/guns I will be trying to sell. Here are some pics of everything. 1. pair of 9 1/2 Irish Setter boots that are 800 thinsulate I have only worn once. I purchased them to keep my feet warmer while treestand hunting and they work well! Asking $45 2. The other pair are light Danner boots. I already have another pair of Danners so I just don't need these anymore. $45 for these as well. 3. Browning Micro midas bow 40-50 lbs but you can actually shoot 30-50 lbs. Great starter bow for a younger child or woman. My wife can split arrows at 20-30 yds with this bow. Comes with everything shown including arrows. Asking $250 4. Nikon 550 rangefinder- $130 5. Winchester lever action 30-30. $350 OBO Not really sure what this gun is worth? 6. Eberlstock pack- SOLD 7. Lone Wolf sit and climb climber treestand- SOLD PF 8. Butter Corn snakes-$35 each 9. Thank you Ernesto for posting that info. I finally got my internet back up and working and I had 6 pm's about my pack. 3 of you said you'd purchase it and I called the first guy that said he wanted to buy it which is Tucson John. The pack is sold pending funds. thx, Mike I also decided to put my Tikka .270 wsm and Tikka .243 for sale. Both are topped with good Nikon scopes 5-16*, one with turrets. One member is interested in one of them so I will post pics and prices after he lets me know.

I'd like to thank Jerry and Heath Hathcock for some great help on this hunt! I passed on a lot of bulls, almost got shots on some really big ones, and all despite the lack of calling and rut activity this year. Jerry Hathcock is the best elk hunter I've seen. I also want to thank Sheena and Preston for some good recommendations on water tanks. I didn't get the bull I was after....although I did get off a shot at him...380ish bull. But on the 2nd to last day I ended up sitting some water and was able to stick a coyote and then take this nice 318" bull. I would have taken a spike had one come in so I feel very fortunate to have taken this bull. As he was coming in he winded me and ran back the way he had come. I made some kind of a noise to stop him and it worked. My first shot was at about 50 yds and went in a few inches back from his shoulder. I shot again and hit him in the hind end and luckily found a major artery. I could see blood gushing out as he ran. 5 minutes later I heard him hit the rocks. Here he is....

I finally drew my long awaited elk tag and just had a question about normal weight of a day pack. I do plan in hiking into a wilderness area to hunt but I don't really have plans for sleeping out there or having a spike camp. With all of the necessities..including 2 water bladders and 3 meals of food my pack ended up weighing 27 lbs. I know there is really no right answer but does that sound about right? Or do I need to lighten it up a bit? Mike

I was in Guatemala for 2 years and ran across 2-3 as pets. I put my finger in and it tried to bite it! Not sure how good of pets they make but very interesting looking animals. I've seen them up in unit 22 and have gotten a few on trail camera. I'd love to take a nice male and have him mounted. The males are much larger and prettier...about the size of a large coyote.

I think it "really" starts when a lot of cows start going into heat! I called a bull in on my unit 23 November Archery hunt about 10 yrs ago. It was towards the end of November.

For those of you who don't use cameras...you are missing out on a lot of fun. It is awesome to find a great looking trail crossing with lots of coues tracks and find out what bucks are using the area. I enjoy checking my cameras just about as much as I enjoy opening presents on Christmas day!!! I can't afford them either but I budget and save and buy them because it is worth it to me. I've gotten a bunch stolen but I'm going to continue to make them, buy them and put them out because I enjoy it. I don't give a rip what you liberals have to say about it. If you don't think cameras are ethical then don't buy one! The same BS could be said about high powered binoculars and rifles, radios, GPS, Spotting scopes, guns with scopes, blah blah blah!! How about we quit these ridiculous " I don't think this is ethical" posts and go out shed hunting instead! Sell your computer and buy a few trail cameras to get pictures of coatimundi's and bobcats that you didn't know were in the area you hunt!!! Again, if you don't agree with trail cameras....don't use them!! Everybody has different tactics of hunting!!! I don't bash lion hunters because they use dogs!! I think that is one of the toughest hunts there is!! -
Need someone with pack horses near Happy Jack

Whitey, I don't think he wants the meat to spoil. Packing a quarter of a quarter out at a time make take too long. Some people were gifted with strong bodies and others weren't. -
For those without anything wrong with them I will come out and say I don't think it is fair chase. It should NOT be allowed into Pope and Young in my opinion. It would be a huge advantage to a physically able hunter to hold back less than 1 pound for 5 minutes waiting for that huge bull elk to come out from behind the Juniper.

To mimick what has been said..I think it sounds like a great product for those with shoulder issues or older bowhunters who have less strength. I wonder how hard it is to pull back until it converts into the 99% let off? That would be something to really consider. But I guess if you had different weight options you could buy a 50#or even a 40# so it is easy to pull back. I was told if it is over 65% let off then if cannot be entered into Pope and Young record book? When did that change to just putting an asterik by the name? I think it was a good marketing strategy to allow fishes and crosses although I'm not into that personally. They could call it the "Nimrod" bow. Too bad the Genesis has already been taken by Mathews. Mike

That is a cool story!! thx for sharing.

I've seen whitetail sheds with long main beams, long points and really thin horned. Sometimes they are young deer with great genes that haven't massed up yet or maybe older bucks with thin-horned genes... As Amanda said, after you've seen lots of sheds and antlers you can just tell which are coues and which are carp. To me the sheds you posted are very obviously carp..I've seen a few that are less obvious and Josh Epperson is usually the man to ask in that case. He's the biggest antler geek I've ever known! That muley buck looks like he has some good potential!! Go put a camera out! Mike

Here we have 2 bucks that will go over 100" with a lot of character. One non-typical massive hog of a buck hitting water and another high eyeguarded typical buck with 10 5/8ths" G2's and 7 1/8th" G3's. Yes, I'm that good. Trades will be considered

Jade, I haven't heard from or about Ken at all. I need to get ahold of him again so we can go huntin together. Mike

Whitey, It is actually a toss up right now between the x-force and my switchback. They are both shooting really sweet. The x-force is much faster with more kinetic energy however it jumps forward real easy and I can hold my switchback back 5 times as long and make an accurate shot. I'm a little more consistent with the x-force over 60 yds however the area I'm hunting is pretty brushy and most shots will be under 50 yds. I will admit that x-force is a sweet sweet bow....I just wish it had a little more play at full draw like my switchback. I'm shooting broadheads only now every day and one day I want to use the switchback first and the next I'm thinking the x-force. I think I'll end up using my switchback as my primary bow just in case I need to hold back real long. Once my elk hunt is over I'll have to sell one of them . Mike
