Thx Jade. When he says the bad, he is referring to me falling 20 feet to the ground, fracturing 3 vertebrae with compression, dislocating my arm, and breaking my left leg. I'm lucky to be alive:) -
treestand lesson's learned...

Be very careful climbing up and down the tree. Always wear a safety harness!!!!!!!!!!! Practice shooting sitting down on a chair at home to build those extra muscles and become comfortable with it. When you are frozen solid, it is even harder to pull your bow back. I always practice shooting from the highest point of my parents roof. You will see that your arrow will hit several inches higher than a normal 20-30 yd shot. I always aim at the lower part of the heart or stomach depending on the angle of course. The coues usually ending up crouching at the shot and I hit them high, which is fine due to the sharp angle. Sit very still and keep any type of movement to a minimum. For me, it really helps if I know a really big buck or 3 run the area. Enjoy man -
Que tengas suerte Ernesto! Espero que puedas encontrar el Rey de Reyes de los venado en su area. Mike

That is a lot of blood for a coues buck to lose. I would guess you cut a good vein or even artery if not some of the gut/liver based on the amount of blood. If it was just a muscle shot it would not have bled that much. I would have guessed him to die had you not said you found him the next day. Good luck on stalking him to finish him off man. I've had the same thing happen and it is not fun. Sincerely, Mike

I grunted this buck in New years day around noon and was able to make a quick kill. I was just curious to find out what some members here would guess this buck's score to be? To make it more interesting, I will donate $20. $10 to the winner and $10 to cw.com. It will end Tuesday Jan 6th. Tim, Josh, Jason, you guys are not permitted to guess.

While sitting in the stand, this guy came trotting in not giving me much of a chance to judge his rack. I had my sights set on a buck that would push 100" and his tall tines seemed to be all my brain could register. I shot him thinking he would possibly touch 100 inches but when I walked up to him there was more ground shrinkage than I've ever had. He had very little mass, his main beams were short and he had short eyeguards. I like the way he looks however I'm a little disappointed in myself for not holding out for several other bucks I had scouted out that would easily top 100". My taxidermist scored him right at 89" 5/8ths. I think he looks bigger than both of my 2 low 90" bucks. A lot of really close guesses!!! I thought this buck was kind of deceiving. Congratulations to AZCOUESANDELK!!!!! with the guess of 90" 2/8ths. The $20 will go to Amanda per Christian's request! Thanks to all for playing.

Taxidermist- Greg McBride with Trails End -
Here is some of Greg's work.

Thanks to all for the compliments! Lardog, yes, I'm using Greg McBride for the 7th time. For those of you who don't know him, he is in Gilbert and is called "Trails End" Taxidermy. He is middle of the road cost wise but has real talent. All the work from him has been top notch! All species look great but I would say he specializes in coues.

when do you mount yours?
TREESTANDMAN replied to minguscoues's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Although score does have some weight for me I'm like Ernesto, I will shoulder mount a buck if I think it's cool looking or is unique. Minguscoues, I'd probably mount that bladed eyeguard buck there for sure! He's got the size and charachter, who cares about a score. Heck, if you have the $$ why not shoulder mount both of those? I have a 103 5/8ths buck on my wall and I actually like the looks of my 91" buck better. Casey, did you mount that 25" spike? It was pretty unique. I was looking at Preston's shed/pick up collection (Josh, you would be amazed at a couple of these sheds!) He had a shed to one side of an amazing perfectly typical buck, but it was like it had been a huge shed shrunk way down. Kind of hard to explain without seeing it. It would probably score 28 inches but I would mount that bad boy for sure. I'll try to convince him to post it!! -

Josh, I'd never shoot a broken buck like that nor that little weiner buck with the little turd of a 3rd main beam. I've seen cooler looking country. Congrats on 2 ok bucks. Mike -

I had Toyota do a 6" lift, put oversized offroad tires (has a new spare) Tires are all under warranty and the truck has 3 yrs left on and extended warrantee which is transferable. Custom grill, rims, chrome rail, bedliner, has 6 track cd player, compass, temp, Plenty of room in the cab area for carseats or children, even adults. Selling because pmt is too high and in financial trouble. Paid over 35K, selling for $26K firm including 2 spare tires I owe more but will pay down with cash. Selling Jumping jack for same reason. Asking $4500.00 Comes with 7' ramp. Will also sell the 7" ramp by itself for $130.00. Mike Udall 480-615-4352 P.S. If I sell one of these I just might get to go bow hunting this January!!!! pps. Jumping jack is in great condition. It is just dirty because I haven't cleaned it. It is now garaged.
