I personally do not like hunting areas I know other hunters consistently hunt. Their mistake may spook the dominant buck in the area which you have no control over. If I were either of you, I'd find a new spot even more secluded, at which I felt I was alone.

I'm selling because we just had our 2nd child and I need a double cab. It has a third seat in the ext cab, but it is not very comfortable. This truck cannot be beat traveling narrow 4wd roads, for that I will miss it a lot!! MPG are around 20 highway and 17 city.

That buck looks like he very well may turn into a shooter! On the second pic on the lower left side of the pic it looks like it may possibly be the ear of a small lion or bobcat maybe? -
How many times do you see this??

That is really cool!! I've never seen antelope in unit 22, much less seeing one hanging out with a coues buck!!! That is one unique situation Jeff! -

Looks like he could be a biggin! I don't see the 6" sticker you are referring to. Probably his ear. -
Here is a cool pic of a small yearling cub.

Cool story Matty, I was out shed hunting with Josh Epperson and Tim Maddock a year or so ago and I walk up upon a small chocolate bedded bear. She was only about 10 yds from me when she stood up from under a shade tree. We stared at each other for a good 15 seconds before she finally decided to walk off. Didn't have enough time to get too spooked but it was an experience I'll always remember. Tim was able to catch a glimpse of her as she ran off as well. I wasn't packing either. She/he was about yea big.... Here is a larger black from the same spot.

Dang Desert bull, that first video's buck looks like a shooter! How was his rack? -
Younghunter, Looks like a great set-up. You are doing your homework and will have a great hunt for sure!! That is a beautiful tag, brought back memories of when I found out I drew a NM unit 17 archery bull tag last year. From the time I found out I drew the tag to the end of my hunt was a great experience. I ended up buying about 20 different elk videos, lost about 20 lbs getting in shape for the hunt and man was the actually hunt a blast!!! I'm really jealous!

I just had a very expensive homebrew camera (Sony p-41) stolen off of a trail intersection. I had it hooked to the tree with a python lock with u-bolts. Whoever stole it, had to have seen it and then made a special trip back with large wire cutters to get that think off the tree. 2 weeks prior I had gotten pictures of the first guy in 4 years at that spot. I didn't listen to my good judgement telling me to take it off the tree. Over the years I've learned to NEVER put my cameras at water holes. I've had 5 cameras stolen in all. -
I'm going to disagree with most of the posts here recommending larger powered binos for freehand. Regardless of how much a bino weighs, the power largely affects the stability of the picture. Even when using a walking stick, with 12 or 15 power binos, the picture will be jumpier than 8 or 10* power. If you have ever used a video camera's zoom, you'd know that as you zoom in, the picture gets jumpier eventually requiring a tripod when zoomed in all the way. It is the same concept with binoculars. As you go up in power you sacrifice field of view and stability of picture regardless of the weight of the bino. After you've been hiking up a steep slope, completely winded and jump a buck, your not going to want to freehand a 15*45 bino to try to find that running buck to get a look at him. For one, the field of view is so small, and even if you do find the buck, the picture will be jumping around so much you won't even be able to see his rack. Try this: When in Cabelas or Sportsmans, Compare the zeiss 15*45's with the nikon or swarov 8*42's one after the other in looking at something small across the building. You'll be blown away by the difference.

For freehanding I wouldn't recommend going larger than 10*. Anything larger and the picture will be very jumpy. 8* is probably your best bet with the wider field of view and more view stability. I like the 8*42 nikon monarch's for the price. 15*56 swarovs are awesome for tripod binos!!!

I want to cry, I broke my 15x60 Zeiss!
TREESTANDMAN replied to SilentButDeadly's topic in Optics and tripods
Tyson, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. If more people would share their stories and write accurate, well thought out letters to the manufacturers, customer service should eventually improve. I know for me, your situation has influenced me to steer clear of Zeiss in the future. -
I'd recommend looking into some of the more southern units, staying away from the illegals as well. The more southern units typically hold a higher concentration of coues deer.

Very cool footage!!! Congrats to all involved!

TREESTANDMAN replied to AZcoues_addict's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Very nice AZ_coues addict! Just out of curiosity, why did you pass on him twice? Did you estimate him to be smaller and not look as awesome as he actually does? -
Nice finds 2nd Shot!! There's nothing much better than finding a nice whitetail shed!

Wow!! At that price, those won't last long!

Well put Doug. I think you bring up a really good point that application statistics speak much louder than survey results, and I might add, imo (leading survey results). -

Here are a couple of sheds I found this year. The smaller one is a brown 3pt I've got quite a few trail cam pics of, with a matching side and 12 inch spread he'd go about 81". The other shed is a 2 pt that with a matching side and 12" spread would go 90"!!! It's probably a 2-3 old shed so he's probably on his downhill side.
