That is exactly the same kind of problems I've been having with mine. I will be taking mine back to walmart and getting a couple of stealth cams instead I think.
-
I have had 4 different models of trail cameras. I've had the $50 stealth 35mm, $90 moultrie 35mm, walmart moultrie digital, and by far my favorite, 4.1 megapixel sony p-41 digital. The stealths and moultrie 35mm work great for the money. They get expensive though because they require too many batteries and you have to purchase new film every time. The Walmart moultrie digital I purchased has not been working correctly but I think I just got a bad apple. I heard good things from others regarding this camera. I use 512 memory cards so I can get around 1000 pictures. I also have a video option where I can get 10 second video clips which is kind of fun. It is nice being able to zoom in on my computer without loosing much picture quality.

Wasn't trying to offend you Tommy. Just didn't want some new bowhunter to sit a treestand for the first time and aim 5 yds below the buck.
-
I guess I misinterpreted what you meant by 5 yds. If you put your pin 5 yards low from the deer you would miss completely but using your 20 yd pin for a 25 yd shot would be inches on the deer, not yards.
-
Good advice Tommy except for the above portion. I don't care what angle you are at if you shoot 5 yds lower you will miss the deer every time. Did you mean 5 inches? I usually sit about 30 feet up in the ponderosas and always aim for the heart with my 65lb bow. I've practiced from all different angles from the highest point from my parents roof which is about 40ft high and with my bow about 3-4 inches low will be a double lung every time.

Ask Coues7. He builds them and knows his stuff.

Another Great Buck
TREESTANDMAN replied to gotcoues's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
What an awesome buck!!!!! Bladed eyeguards, stickers everywhere, awesome main beams with the tips curling up. That buck has a LOT of charachter!! I will guess him right around 105-108" gross. Even if he scored less than 100 he'd still be a wall hanger. Those pics got my blood running. Hope you get him!! Lance does have some good points. I also think he is a young buck with incredible genes. If by some chance you don't get him this dec/jan he should be looking really good come September-Jan 07. -
I had one cross the road in front of me around star valley. They are up there.
-
That is a great solid buck!!!!!

Thats a great eastern whitetail. I doubt it is a hoax, I've seen similarly sized buck pictures. -
Holy smokes!!!!!! I don't think I've ever seen G2's that long. The G3's are incredible as well. I agree, the field pictures do that buck a lot more justice. Any clue as to how he will rank in the books?
-
Not bad Ernesto!!! Pretty symetrical spike you got there!! Congrats on passing that 20" gross benchmark we all strife for when hunting for spikes.
-
Congrats on a buck of a lifetime!!! As was mentioned by several others, We'd love to hear the story on how you took him. How long have you known about him? Were you hunting specifically for him?
-
If Chris Jacobs, (Elkmaniac) says the buck is 134" then It's 134". Chris knows his stuff.
-
Thats incredible. Hopefully he left plenty of seeds.
-
Sweet buck, I agree it will come way shy of 136" though.
-
SWEET Bobcat!!! I've yet to get one.
-
Congrats to you both!! I think my buck this year should score over Caseys but I think Ernesto, you have me beat!

I think you guys need to give this kid a break. I'm sure he and his father's side of the story will be completely different. Isn't it funny how we almost always take the side of the person telling the story? Quit the speculation on this kids motives and the way his parents have raised him. If his parents are able to afford 15* swarovs then congrats to them and to him. It is great that this kid is self confident in his shooting ability. So much better to be confident than have low self esteem. His father is obviously proud of him and that is great. I'm sure he had a blast on the hunt. It was earlier stated he made a ridiculously long shot, if that was ACTUALLY the case then I hope his father realizes the mistake he made and will not encourage it again. I have no knowledge of this situation I just think people should not be judged so quickly, especially with only one persons point of view.

I thoroughly enjoy the scoring sytem. Different hunters have different perspectives and preferences on hunting. Some hunters may really enjoy the comradery of being with friends and just being out there hunting no matter the size of the buck harvested or even if a buck is taken. Others may feel the same yet have personal goals to take a larger buck and pass on the smaller bucks. Some of us enjoy setting goals on taking a buck that would score over a certain point benchmark. Does that mean we enjoy the hunt less or are hunting for the wrong reasons? Lets quit judging other hunters, we can't read their minds. I've had some of the greatest experiences hunting with my dad and good friends yet I strive to take a buck that will score higher each time I go out. It is a fun challenge to me and I enjoy every minute of it weather I get a buck or not. If you don't care one bit about a bucks score then fine, if you do care then thats fine too. What does it matter as long as you are having fun, building good relationships, and getting that incredible rush of adrenaline?

It doesn't have anything to do with age, sex, area, or anything. I've gotten pictures of hundreds of different coues deer from all ages and areas and I've seen a pretty decent mix of red, black, grey, and shartruse.

Nice. I think that first buck will go over 100". Maybe a 108" buck? Let us know. Congrats!!!!!!!!!
