They may be bedding areas. Sometimes deer/elk will scrape away leaves or pineneedles before bedding down. A true rutting scrape will have deer rubs nearby and the deer will urinate (not crap) in the scrapes. I don't know if muleys scrape and rub. I don't hunt carp that much.

A few coues pics with a coues7 trail cam

Awesome pics bowsniper. I don't think any of those bucks will be huge but they should be ok. Were you able to brighten up that last picture at all to get a better look at that buck on the right? I can't tell very well but it looks like he could have more potential. -
Nice looking bull and very cool picture!!!

A few trailcam pics

Very nice pics!! thanks for sharing. -
On Saturday I went up to one of TAM and I's spots in unit 23 to change the memory card on my digital. As I was sitting there opening the camera I heard some twigs snap behind me and turned around to see a huge rack disappear over the hill. While checking the pictures I was happy to see we had several pictures of this monster. I just emailed some pictures to Amanda and I'm curious to see what all of you think he will score now and what you think he will score when he is done. I will take a stab and say he will become a 380" bull. What do you all think? By the way, TAM and I are auctioning the gps coordinates off starting at $1500.00. j/k.

Dang it!! I thought unit 42 was my little secret!!

Waterholes also have lots of mosquitos and insects! I was sitting a water hole last year and had a falcon fly right at my face and swerve away right before hitting me. This falcon did this 3 times. I also watched him catch a sparrow in flight. Interesting experience.

Now I'm starting to wonder about carbon blast/cover scents etc. I wonder if that stuff even helps.

Great bull

I went to check my cameras over the weekend and was disappointed to find out that 242 10 second video clips had been taken from my digital, all of trees swaying in the wind and a couple of birds. I found the reason it took all those blanks was that I had it set on the highest sensitivity level. I remedied that so in 2 more weeks I should have some great pics of this bull again. Sorry folks. -

I don't think Amanda checks the website that often. She has a life unlike us computer geeks.

trail camera setup
TREESTANDMAN replied to couesarcher's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
I try to set my camera from 5-15 yds from the water/salt/trail because the pictures are better, especially w/ the 35mm stealthcams or moultrie. The flash for these cameras does not reach that far either so usually closer is better in my opinion. -

Thats fine Blue Elk. The game cam used is a homemade digital using a sony p-41. Coues7 on this site makes them and sells them as a side business. The picture quality is actually set on it's lowest setting so that I can get more pictures. I am very pleased w/ this camera. I have only had salt in this spot for about 2 months now and have gotten some incredible pictures. 2 weeks ago I set it on the 10 second video mode so I'm hoping I got some good video footage of this bull. Will find out on Saturday!!! These things are addictive. -
I am seriously considering this purchase. I like the option of being able to adjust the poundage and the convenience of using this to strengthen the specific muscles used in shooting my bow. Too many archery hunters when practicing will shoot shot after shot and wonder why the arrows are not grouping well. I believe it is more effective to take fewer shots with better form resting in between sequences than to shoot the heck out of your bow. This excercise tool would help to increase endurance without having to shoot the bow so much.

This bulls last point on his left side is actually branching into a 9th point which you can't see in these 2 pictures. Later today Coues7 will be posting another pic for us of this bull that will give a better shot of his top. You will see his messed up third may turn into a decent drop tine going to the side. I am definately interested to see what he turns into. Hopefully he will be back!!! -

Lark, I would agree that he is not a 380 bull right now but I think he may be one when he is done growing. I definately don't have much experience in judging antlers so I may be wrong. Thanks for your guess Lark. -

This bulls eyeguards and 4th's are great. Lets hear all of your predictions on what his score will be when he is hard horned. My guess is 380. These pictures are from a digital camera Coues7 made me.
