Oops, I just realized I put this post in the wrong section. I meant to add it into archery.

TREESTANDMAN replied to CHD's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Why is it that his buck was not recognized as the world record? -
THAT WAS HILARIOUS.

Good to have you back Lark. Take care of yourself.

I went out Saturday not specifically looking for sheds. I found a 6*7 bull lion kill, antlers still brown. Rough scored him at around 235 inches. The tines were quite short but he had pretty good main beams and pretty good mass.

Picacho Peak Elk
TREESTANDMAN replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
I don't know, they have an Elk hunt in unit 31 so it might be in around there. I have seen elk hanging out around 4 peaks and off barnhardts trailhead in the flats so I'm not too surprised to see one in the mesquites. -

He thinks he is a moo cow. -
You guys don't know what you are talking about. That is a big bodied Coues whitetail with a whopper of a rack.

I have no idea on how to email pictures. there is no scanner here at work and I'm not supposed to email outside of work. I'm not even supposed to be on this site!

I only have the internet at work and I'm not computer savy. I'm not sure how to send pictures.

I checked my camera on saturday and was pretty amazed to develop a picture w/ 2 does and a bear in the same picture. The deer don't appear to be spooked which I find very odd. The bear is probably about 30 yds or so from the deer, sitting down and facing away from the deer. Pretty interesting stuff!!

25-06 I've got 3 stealth cams (the $55.00 ones) and I love them. You will read posts from other web sites that people have problems w/ them but I have never had a problem in about 2 yrs. For trails I would definitely recommend setting it for 1 or 2 pictures every minute and leaving it for 2 or 3 weeks. I like setting my cameras on trails best during the rut period from the beginning of dec to Feb.

I've used muzzy's for years and have been very impressed. In my opinion, the most important things in deciding which broadhead to use are 1. does the arrow fly consistently w/ that broadhead. 2. does the broadhead hold together well. Most any sharp broadhead out there will create the same size entrance and exit holes, and do the same amount of damage to the vitals. I chose muzzy's because they were invented w/ a tip to penatrate bone, and they never come apart. I have never used mechanical broadheads because I just don't trust them. I've heard horror stories of only one blade opening up etc however I'm sure they will help the arrows flight.

25-06 It depends on several factors. 1. density of deer in the area 2. time of year and temperatures 3. Is the camera over salt, bait, trail, or water. 4. Is the camera programed to take pictures every minute, 5 minutes, 20 ? On trails, and salt this time of year I would typically wait 3 weeks. On bait, depending on the type and concentration of deer in the area, usuall 1 week. On water in the heat of the summer, maybe every 2 weeks. On water now, 3 weeks. W/ the non digital cameras the batteries usually last max 3 weeks anyway. If it is on bait or salt, never program it for less than 5 minuets, you will get 25 pictures of the same cow elk or deer within a short period. Been there, done that.

I prefer to use the term canines hind roast. Not too bad.

Don't even try and compare bear meat w/ javelina. Javelina is the best tasting meat I've ever had. My family and extended family will back me up on this one. Bear meat is ok but it is probably my least favorite.
-
I don't mind bear meat. It makes great jerky and I like the roasts. I think the key again is field care.

I would agree w/ you on that one. I would highly recommend snake gators to everyone. Especially this year.

Go w/ the Tikka .270 wsm. Extremely lightweight and the recoil is not bad.

How do i set up my game cam
TREESTANDMAN replied to creed_az_88's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
It is amazing how well that lion blends into its surroundings. I have owned 4 stealth cams and never had problems w/ them. I do want to get a digital however to save the cost of film over the long run. -
Amanda, Congrats on the pig!

How do i set up my game cam

My buddy, TAM, has a picture of 3 adult lions (in one picture) at a water tank. It appears to be a mother and her two grown kittens. These cameras are very addicting.
