How do i set up my game cam
TREESTANDMAN replied to creed_az_88's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Great pictures KWP. thanks for sharing. I personally have set my cameras facing all different directions and have had no problems at all. I seldom have problem pictures or blanks. -
If that ranger really did pistol whip a girl he should be pistol whipped and casterated. I think they need to give tougher penalties on child and wife abuse weather it be physical or sexual in our day.

The only reason I say forget PSE is because #1 I didn't like their grips. and #2 we replaced more cracked limbs from PSE than any other bow. This was 5 yrs ago or so and I haven't kept up to date on the new models so they might have changed.

Claude should have been put to death. All murderers and rapists should be put to death. Saves tax payers money and it saves the world lots of anguish.

My advice to you would be to pick the bow that you feel the most comforatable with. I do a lot of hunting from a treestand so I chose a bow that is fairly compact, has great balance, and has a handle that fits my hand perfectly. It is a Mathews ultra 2. I used to work at an archery shop so I have shot PSE, Hoyt, High country, Browning, the works. I decided to go w/ mathews for several reasons. 1. Great customer service and warranty 2. Harmonic dampers (which do make a big difference) 3. I love the handles 4. has great balance 5. fps speed on my ultra 2 is around 320. My second choice would be the older Hoyt model. There was hardly any vibration. I haven't shot the AR models enough to give an opinion. PSE-Forget it. No offense to those that shoot PSE's. Good luck. For that price range you might want to look at some newer model used bows. You can get some great deals that way.

I practice shooting fingers on my mathews a little for those types of situations. I'm not as accurate as I am shooting w/ my release but if it's within 30 yds I feel confident taking the shot.

That is a beautiful shed. Do you know what it scores?
-
Scott is a reliable brand and I have heard good things about that release. I personally have used a truefire for the last 8 years or so and have never had an issue w/ it. I would not recomment the walmart cheapy releases though.

What was your method of taking these nice bucks? Was it spot and stalk, treestands over trails, or bait? Lets hear the story? Congrats on 2 great bucks!!!
-
I don't remember if this topic has been covered or not but I wanted to see what your opinions are on why it is that some areas have extremely big bucks and some areas have just small to average bucks. Is it because of low hunting pressure which allows many bucks to grow older and larger because of denied access? Is it because of the area harbors less lions? Is it because of the water/food/mineral resources are abundant? Is it because of the gene pool? I'm sure there are a combination of these factors that attribute to the larger than normal buck, but if you were to pick just one, which would it be? I think I will pick the genetic gene pool as the #1 factor. Maybe those genetics however come from the food/water/mineral resources over time in that area.

Here is a tip for you. Take a young goat, teather it to a a tree and put your treestand over it in an area with lots of lions. Sit it early morning and evening. If a bear comes in, don't shoot it because it will be baiting. You'll just have to get another goat. Maybe Scott Adams will loan you one.

I know of a yearround used bear den in unit 1. I've always been tempted to go check it out in january but never have.

That is a great buck coueselk. thanks for sharing. -
I'm wanting to buy an inexpensive good quality hand gun for target practice and just a side arm to have w/ me while scouting etc. I'm looking for something larger than a 22. I want a gun w/ a comforatable grip. I have no knowledge of handguns. Any suggestions?

Good point Rembrant. W/ coues, pretty much all units have 100 inch deer. There may be areas in units that generally harbor smaller bucks and vice versa due to pressure etc.
-
I have called Javelina on quite a few occations w/ my circe varmint call. Only once did I have them run from the call so I think it is a very productive method when they are spooked. It is a pretty big rush to have pigs running straight at you. Be careful. Ps. they were always w/in 100 yards when I called them.

After the does are done cycleing, the bucks will go back to checking their scrapes for a while longer. There bodies are still full of testoserone so they are still territorial for a while. After they lose their racks, they will usually go back to their home areas. At least that is what I understand.

That is pretty funny but I would not dare put that in my yard. You will have animal rights activists egging your house or worse. -
