Hello,
Have a friend of mine who has her Late Father's Remington 7400 with a cracked forend. Would like to get a replacement for Her and get Her hunting with it but having a hard time finding one. Is the Remington 7400 Forend same as 742 & 740? Might open up more options if it does. Thank you.

Selling a Ruger "Frontier" bolt-action rifle chambered in 7mm-08. This rifle is rather rare and unique as it allows you to mount a scope forward of the receiver "Scout Style" or over the receiver in a conventional method. Very few rounds through this one and in great condition besides a couple of handling marks.
Description: Firearm is used in excellent condition. Very clean overall, no rust and very light signs of use. Chambered in a powerful hunting caliber in a compact configuration that is no longer offered by Ruger. Pictures of rifle without scope are of the exact rifle you will receive. Pictures showing rifle with a scope are stock photos only shown to give you an idea of what the rifle looks like with different scope configurations. Rifle comes with no scope or rings.
The Ruger M77 MKII Frontier rifle has won Guns & Ammo magazine's annual reader poll as "The 2005 Gun of the Year" The Ruger Frontier is an exceptionally agile embodiment of the forward scoped carbine. Combining a barrel-mounted rib cut to accept Ruger's integral ring mounts, our 16 1/2 inch barreled Gun of the Year winner triumphed on both aesthetics and shootability." The report concluded, "For real world hunting situations when shots come fast, the Frontier is ideal."
Our engineers studied the scout rifle concept and decided that the rugged Ruger scope mounting system, combined with a forward-mounted barrel rib as on the Ruger No.1 rifles, would make a great, fast-handling game rifle," said Sturm, Ruger President Stephen L. Sanetti. "We used our Ruger M77 MKII Compact rifle as the basic platform, adding a slightly heavier barrel to accept the scope-mounting rib. This gave the added benefit of increased accuracy in a rifle that carries easily 'at the balance,' is easy to load and unload, and which gives lightning fast "eyes open" target acquisition."
