Went with camp chef. Most bang for the buck. Get the biggest size you can fit!

Good luck youth deer hunters! And their mentors!

Good luck to you guys. Can’t wait to get this year going! -
How big is he? What ranges? recoil sensitive? I agree with DUG though, either will do it. Apt to lean to what he’s more comfortable with

Awesome bulls and thanks for sharing. Helping when you don’t have a tag is the key to getting better. Glad it paid off

Watched this guy scouting for youth elk. Going up again this weekend B9F4BA59-1299-4BBF-95A0-CBC105041082.mov

Klymit static v luxe insulated. Been good so far

Mystery ranch has been my go to. Heavier pack than some other options but the shelf handles loads well
-
Thanks. I had heard there was a controlled burn and then a lightning strike set that one off. Definitely was affecting animal movements. Hoping it clears out for the early archery tag holders

Was up in 23 this morning. Didn’t seem like the rut had kicked off yet. Was warm and Smoky from a fire so I’m sure that’s not helping

Yeah correct, only active tags are shown in white. At season opener, it will switch

A buddy and I were talking about that. Those guys are sitting on a goldmine

Someone just posted a TC venture in 6.5 for $400 in the classifieds

I usually do my own but Gilbert Butchery in the valley did a great job on a deer and an elk when our kitchen was being remodeled, would highly recommend. I want to say the elk was like $150. Von Hansons makes great sausage but can be pretty pricy. There’s a local processor in Young AZ named David off Hindu Xing that does good work as well. Good luck on the hunt

Zanes my son, and I appreciate the offer. His tags are for units we are familiar with and have been scouting but I’ll reach out if we get in a pinch. I’ll happily start that thread, planning on trying to get more pics and videos this year anyways.

Can always order a compact stock direct from ruger or find one on the forum where someone went the opposite way. Good luck

Thanks Chris! Congrats to the winners!

100 and 300 yard group with an axis. Factory stock, Timney trigger. Some of them just flat out shoot. That being said, they are cheap guns and I could see light strikes being an issue. I find them enjoyable because being only $300, my expectations stay low and are usually exceeded. MDT just started making a chassis for them also ruger american would be an excellent choice

I’ll be the odd man out and throw in the savage axis. All I’ve messed with have been shooters

Nice deer and congrats! Way to kick off the fall!
