    Unit 11M bull hunt

You are right --lot of human activity around & close to the airport, after 8 A M, so it has no effect on the best hunting time. One other thing that I saw that seems to help the hunter... Seems that the Elk have became used to type of people. So ,come Sept 13. --- I will do he same-- walk around singing, walking my dog , in my bright -gaudy clothes---- with my Bow secluded. I've seen this work more than once; Walk right by within 10 to 20 yards. ( 1.Picture--look at this picture of - just that.) In fact in 2012 I harvested the largest bull that I have ever seen (alive) Picture 2. And I've hunted Elk for more than 45 years .

Nice antelope. I would estimate his score to be 80. * Note Look at the eye & ears on the antelope (above & below .. Mounted by SEEKER..) . The eyes & ears establishes the the projection (Mood) --VERY ALERT AND AWARE OF THE SITUATION--- OR TOTALLY RELAXED & HALF ASLEEP. GUESS THAT IS OK -- IT,S CALLED PREFERENCE.

    11M Elk a Nuisance

40 yr AZ elk hunter. Sounds like you are an old timer- in knowledge about 11 M. I have hunted elk in most of the best places in AZ. But now I now I am an old timer-in years ,and could use a little help. That's why I chose 11 M, easy to hunt, & to get the elk out. Do you like elk steaks -also? Would you be willing to share your knowledge , with my skill? I plan to start my scouting around the 09 Sept. The ole outdoorsman....

Wow. I thought I had trouble reading ; The above (bunch) are all -in deep mud. ****One more time- real simple!***. (I do not know , or care about the Mar.gay cats sex drives.) It,s a small ocelot from central America. My customer brought it to my shop DEAD, to be mounted . It,s not a native of the USA. * Webster's dictionary*. It was later after the owner had picked it up from my shop ; Taken away from the owner; By the AZGFD. End of the Sags. ****** My lesson- do not believe customers (anyone). Check out all the facts - first. Once it inters my shop - I become liable. The owner -to this day has not apologize to me. Since then , I have learned other things about his character; He is well known.

    Arizona's Elk

Looks like anything to create a winning story. Two things support the San Carlos (regular sheds ) idea. 1. If a real hunter had them from the beginning, the tips of the left antler would not be eaten off. 2. If they were not sheds, But maybe broken apart -then the parts if the skull would still be attached to each antler. It,s amazing what people will do ,just to be recognized. As an avid Elk hunter and Taxidermist for 62 years, I believe the San Carlos Sheds, is most likely - right on... But it does accomplish something, thought provoking reading. Thanks

Wow, are you extra -extra slow, or just have real hard time of keeping up with a snail. I'll make it real SIMPLE. . I got a ticket for having a Mar gay Cat in my shop. No hunter that I ever knew, nor the AZGFD knew about the type of cat. But , I know about them now!. If you are interested- look in Webster.... Don't think you will find one in AZ.

What do you think this bull will score?

I say that Yotebuster is RIGHT ON, WHY DO I SAY THIS= 50 rears OF MEASURING BIG BULLS! My 7 x 7 (huge AZ Bull ) IS , 60' MB, 69'MASS, SPREAD INS. 51' & LANCE TINES 24' ! And no broken tines. That' s a basic idea of what, a 400 bull -looks like.

Thanks -all of you, for the appreciated statements. I was drawn this Sept. ,Bull -11 M first hunt.. My problem- at 82 is; I will not be - hunting high in the peaks, releasing my arrow into that Record bull. But with a little assistance from you- & you current knowledge of the area, and my archery skill , should put Elk steaks on our plates. I would be much in obliged to you... I do love elk meat; But my Dr. Oncologist said ; I should go - very light on it. It will be in abundance. I'm here in Tucson- the past 41 yrs. Retired, enjoying the Great outdoors ! Note- I passed on this bull. Yes! I Mounted my tag!

`J down & Bone collector , It takes more than desire to make -wild -life trophies, come back to life, even better than (alive) Those mounts have been mounted over 25 years. I've never put one of my mounts in -a talent contest. I was raised (way back in the sticks) ; We did live off the land. Everything. No electric, running water& it was a long dash to the toilet- no matter what the weather. But we thought that we were really well -off ,and depended upon no one. We were really self sufficient, except for salt & coffee. I was a ( go get m) boy . At 9 I took over my dads trap line; Became the richest boy in East Tenn. This story -goes on & on... But that's how I got into Taxidermy. The animals I was catching was worth more to me than the fur buyers were paying me. So... I've been doing Taxidermy 70 years +. Never gets old: Each one is a brand new challenge , to see just how close -that i can come to making it as good as in real -life. Now * you know why- that I do it. For sure - not the $$$$$$$$; I have more than I need . When one is 82,,, It,s younger women, older whiskey, faster BOWS & BIGGER BULLS. The ole Seeker said all that!

    Unit 11M bull hunt

I hunted 11 M two seasons. 2012 harvested a huge bull. The largest one that I have ever seen alive; I have hunted big bulls for 42 years ,and harvested more than 30. My advice to you is--Find the most recent used watering place, or a best travel route. Set your blind correctly,,, air flow is most important. Now,consider your skill; ( Max range that you can put the arrow into a 6 inch target? ) Have your blind all set & you be ready 30 Min. before first light. You should have -calling skill -average or better. Big bulls will come to a poorly blown call, when the timing is right. Most hunters call too much. The best time to call-is when the bull is about to pass you -(a little too far out). I have about an 85 % call-in success. I use bull calls only to locate. I have never seen a big bull try to -do it with another bid bull. Bug bulls come to - cow calling. They will always come to love calls better than challenge calls. one other thing =always use sent blocking (ca mo) clothes. and the best spray sent blocker. Now you are about 95 % ready -to release. Now the heard part = PATIENTS ! Absolutely necessary, for all the shill and practice to -- put the Elk steaks on the plate & the Trophy on your den-wall! Best of luck

in the regulations- nothing in any about this cat. I was forced to retain a very expensive attorney. They took my hunting license for 5 years. (how could happen- had nothing to do with hunting.) Why did they not take my Taxidermy license? Just guess what happened to the person that brought it to my shop.... So.. my point of view is ** They do what ever want to, when they want to, Advise- walk softly, & be prepared- in advance! I still - have not seen where mounting a Mar-gay is ILLEGAL ! And that is the only Mar-gay Cat that I have ever heard of. How about you?

After evaluating the situation , what do you believe happened ? I have seen this type of event , looks like he had survived lots of pain for several days. But this happens more than. ever known. No one likes it , but it can not be prevented. But it,s not all bad. Nature cleans the mess up. Predators, bugs ,maggots , & birds all benefit. Within a year the only evidence left is maybe a few bones. I've chased big bulls 50 years,& harvested many. All these judgments & guesses,, are just that! Only the hunter that released the arrow--probably knows what went wrong., and i am sure he will do his best -to never do that again. In my younger days, I had this happen to me. I tracked the bull for several days and finally found it. The head & cape was gone. The truth is - if you look thoroughly & long enough--you can put it behind you, because either found it, or you are sure that you did you very best search. * I shot this bull in 11 M.

Wow! It must be easy to harvest elk steaks in ones yard. All I get out of mine is vegetables. But I have harvested some really nice big bulls that could be seen from someone's yard .The one thing that is good about that is, No caring for many miles(at 82 -it would be impossible): guess that I could rent a mule to get the job done. 11 M has many problems & advantages, but for a Senior- like me the advantage are +. What do you think i should do harvest a nice bull there this Sept? I have the early hunt. I shot a huge bull (Schultz pass area). It was the biggest LIVE bull that I have ever seen in 50 yrs. hunting. 400 + My way of hunting is -1 person(only) chasing 1 animal. I believe that this is the only-(fair chase) For me to have pride in my successes., Thank you! Photos- 1-just prior to my release,- 2 -His antlers- 3 - his son= my target - this Sept.

4A Archery Bull - show me your pics

NICE BULL. A trophy like that is what keeps archery hunters , all fired-up & anxious to start the thrill of the chase, all over again. I'm 82, got drawn for 11 M -early bull this Sept. Look at my last huge bull, (11 M )! That's what keeps a healthy , long time- bull hunter -out of the rocking chair and ready for that thrill of -the chase ! I have hunted this hunt- 3 times since 2012. Pic. #3, I had him broadside at 18 yards: For some reason I passed on him. Must have had too long to think about it. But , this Sept- I will release - my Bow Tech, Samson. 105 lbs of energy will transfer to my arrow.
