No blaze orange requirments, no you don't need to check in your animals, though you need to call in your harvest of a deer. You aplied for a deer tag?, you get those over the counter. and your pig tag should come eventualy. best camo, pigs can't see all that well so don't wory about it, deer, I think the best camo is just remaining still. Go with a light camo patern, the more busy dark camo paterns don't work well at long distances, I use kings camo or natural gear.

I guess it just all depends on were you are. I've archery hunted in Dec in a popular unit in a popular place and have rearly ran into rifle hunters. Maybe I'm just lucky.

I'm a revolver man and I'm with SilentButDeadly on this one. I also have a .357 and love it. Less things to go wrong with it and will shoot cheap 38 rounds for those times you just want to plink. They can be a bit heavier then an auto but I just love the versitility, especialy since I'm a poor college student.

Shooting a 30-06... what is the best grain bullet for coues?
IHunt2live replied to arnett's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I don't shoot 30-06 but I would shoot a grain that shoots well out of your gun, even if it is a little overkill. If you go and shoot bigger game you can shoot the same load and not wory about changing loads. If I had a choice though, I would shoot what ever shoots the flatest. just my $.02 -
First Mearns Trip of the season
IHunt2live posted a topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
After reading scottyboy's post about his mearns hunt I got all excited and had to get out myself. I wasn't feeling that good so I knew I couldn't hunt for to long so I decided to hit my go to spot for a quick trip. There aren't a ton of birds in the area but we got into some. Dewey, my shorthair found one covey all on his own and had a couple of nice points, hes coming along. Anyway here are a couple of pics for you all. Dogs on point, and me with my pups and my new toy behind us . -

Right on Scottyboy! Was it as good as they have been talking it up? I think I might try to get out for a quick trip in the am. Lets hope for a long, wet, perductive season . -
NICE BEAR and shed to.

Its on my father in laws property. It has a float valve fed by a larg water tank just up the hill. This last lion came in while he was there, he was probably asleep in the cabin not 50 yards from that lion.

My gosh. I think the lions have moved in. I would say this is the 4 lion in about a month and a half to vist this water whole. Got a TON of pigs to wich is great news since I have a pig tag in january. Might have to get someone to come along with a rifle in case the lions show up. I'm thinking about putting another cam out there and put it on the video setting.

El Senor Cordorniz de Gambel

Sounds like fun. I was able to get out this am for the first time this year. Didn't find to many birds, was trying out a new spot, but the ones we did get into were scallies, which I wanted, and to my suprise I coundn't miss. I had 1 double, 1 triple and a double on doves. suprised the heck out of myself. Dogs did good as well despite the tuff senting conditions. O' and we jumped 4 bucks, given the area I thought they would be mule deer but to my suprise the were whitetails. I have seen whitetails in some low stuff before but nothing like this area. I was hopeing the desert quail were going to be a bit better then what I have seen and heard, I hope mearns turns out to be a great year. -
My wife is gone tonight so I thought I would share her buck. Her and her dad were hunting together while I was helping my dad on his hunt. They didn't fill a tag last year and saw very few bucks so my wife had a pretty itchy trigger finger. They hunt mostly for the meet anyway. And here is the beast. Don't strain yourself... yes it only has one antler, the other one was brocken

While we are on the subject (Mexican Coues)
IHunt2live replied to desertdog's topic in Coues Biology
I just read the section in "Deer of the Southwest" by Jim Heffelfinger were he mentions this. He says "its a common misconception" that there are these local types exist. Often they are just young deer with 3x3 racks and that some individual coues can have different color variations. Take it for whats its worth. -

A tail like this? This deer came out of 34A but it was not miniture coues, he was the biggest bodied coues I've ever delt with. -
You know you're addicted to coues when.....
IHunt2live replied to Browning'sCustomMeat's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
When you hike several miles in the am darkness to get to that remote hill for a chance at a trophy, paying no attention to the fact that you might be packing out your buck until the wee hours the fallowing morning. -

I hope you don't take this the wrong way washingtondc but do you have an education in biology, or are you just an outdoors nut like the rest of use? I'm just wondering because you seem to know a whole lot. -

I think Jim Heffelfinger mentions them in his book. Can't remember what it said but I highly doubt that science beleives they are another species. -
Where to go 'yote hunting?

I call it her bb-gun. It drives her nuts. I have no idea what make or model. Youth something in .243. she put down a 10+ year old cow elk with one shot with that gun when she was 11 I think.

O' SNAP!!! Truth hurts sometimes don't it? Mike, do we need to get into bullets shot? Remeber that coyote, sitting there at 225 that you shot at? Kevin, I do not. I want a caliber hole in, 1/2" out. Have had great success with the accubond on that. But, I am going to try these. If they do not exit, like some say and the animal drops dead, they they are going to be hard to beat! I had a feeling you would bring that up. SO... I'm 1-0 on coyotes big deal. Coues, 2 shots 2 deer thats what realy matters isn't it? That rifle of mine has only missed once and thats when my bro shot it for the first time but he didn't mis the second shot. I think the realy issue that needs to be discused is how many times have we have been out calling and how many times have you had first crack at the coyotes? And didn't I get you the Arizona grand slam of quail? Just playing with you casey.
