Carrying Handgun while hunting
IHunt2live replied to gmcbob's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I WAS in the same boat as you until I bought my 357 a couple of weeks ago. I'm a collage student and don't have a ton of money so I wanted an all around hand gun and I think I found it in the 357. Not the ideal gun for that type of use but it can it can serve as protection and maybe a HAM hunt gun for the future. Pluse I just like revolvers. just my $.02 -
Thats not anywhere near vail is it?

From what I've herd from a few G&F guys is that they are realy concerned about hunters just leaving the bear meat in thye field. They have several cases of hard core bear hunters just leaving the meat of all the bears they kill.
-
Might depend on the WM and what kind of mood he/she is in. Is the bear hitting the salt or there just for the water? you could just pick up the salt block while you hunt.

You know I don't think its the ranchers that are to blame. Its the state land department. All of this state trust land, which a lot of us hunt is ment to raise money for schools and that state alows it to be grazed much much harder then it should until the land is beyond hope then they sell it to developers. Thats the "managment" stratigy of the state land department. To me the Forest service is getting a lot better in managing grazing. They have taken data from mears studies into acount and manage it, to an extent for mearns. The mearns spots that I see that are grazed hard are on private land but luckly much of mearns habitat is found on the national forests.

Your flowers are looking good Casey. enjoying the info here guys keep it coming. I was looking into upgrading my scope to one of the mentioned but after shooting my deer last year at about 400 yards with my 3X9 simmons and all the other toys I've been buying and not to mention a new kitchen for the wife, it might be a while till I can convince my wife to let me get a new scope.

] I have to agree I did the same thing with my pig from this year with muzzy 3 blades.

I'd take a long sleeve grong orange shirt. Would be a great quail/shed hunting shirt.

257wby, ya that is kind of is strange to see cubs with their mother being that old. They are born in then den then spend their first year with mom, den with her agian the next year then shortly after leaveing the den the leave their mother. Many of you know I've been trapping/trying to trap bears in the white mountains, unit 1 mostly. hasn't gone to well. 12 days with 12+ traps out we have only cought 2. The bears just have pleny to eat this time of year. We have had quit a few on camera just come up to the bait, sniff it and walk off. Theres plenty of bears up there for sure but baiting them doesn't work the greatest right now. Good luck on the hunt who ever is hunting up there and if you see a bear with a collar, think twice before you shoot it, you CAN shoot them, but a lot of hard work went into trapping those and just remember, someone else has already had their hands on your trophy.

Collared Dove
IHunt2live replied to peckl1's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Saw a couple once here on the east side of Tucson this past spring. You can hunt them year round but like Amanda mentioned its hard to find them anywhere away far enough from a house. -
I agree but I have been know to kill a few rattler in revange for bitting my dog. That snake costed me $1,600. Nice shed by the way. Those desert mulie sheds are tuff to come by.

black tail coues
IHunt2live replied to rimhunter's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
25-06 is right. I have seen some pretty odd tail/coat colors myself though. -
All those sounds you hear in the middle of the night while I'm slipping behind a thin layer of canvas freak me out. My brain starts raising and I can't sleep. Started wearing earplugs and I sleep much better. All the bigfeets and Aliens are welcome in my camp now.... I can't hear them anymore.

I'll be hunting the first 3 days for sure. I think I'm going to have to change my plans and hunt the unit I got a rifle tag in. It will be a whole new area but I think it will be fun.
-
I drew my 4th choice I belive. Early Nov 34A. Should be fun. Never hunted much in that unit with a rifle.

That sucks!!

I might have +- a box that I would be willing to give away. Would have to check though.
