Haven't herd much about the shoot from anyone so I thought I would ask if anyone was going. I wasn't able to make it to the Bowhunter happening and it has been a few years sence I've been to a shoot so I'm excited for this weekend. A friend had an old bow he let me barrow and I got it set up for my wife so I think she might try a corse or two. Should be a good time in a bit cooler weather. Maybe I'll see a few of you there.

My wife and I had a blast. She was not as excited as I was to go but she had a lot more fun then she thought she would. It was a great introdution to the sport for her. I had her shooting at 20 and 30 yards and except for 2 courses she scored over 100. I was pleased how I shot as well. I'm pumped for the early archery deer season. I didn't get to introduce myself to anyone we were pretty busy shooting all 6 course fri. and sat. I did see a sticker on a 90ish ford F150 extended cab. Hope all of you who went had a good time. It was sure nice to get out of the heat for a few days.

I've been out three seperate times looking for sheds and scouting but haven't found any new good spots. No sheds, but I have found some intrusting things. This saguaro has to be one of the biggest I've seen. Some arms were so low, animals made a bed at the bottom and they could eat the fruit off of it. The tortoise was about 14 inches long, haven't run across those to often. and the mule deer I found along side of a road, (hit by a car). It was in 34a. I saw about 30 voltures get up as I drove by and knew there had to be something there. He wouldn't have been to big but it looks like his right side was a little funky.

I'm not to up to par with the bear regs but isn't there a sow harvest limit. Would it realy mater if you baited them, just means that the season would close faster. My main concern with baiting is just getting those bears used to hand outs and if someone is baiting close enough to populated areas you could have problem bears. I for one don't mind the no baiting for bear. We in Az can use the spot and stock method a bit better then those up in the northern woods. One pro I like about baiting bears is that you can look them over easier and judge the quality of the bear before you shoot. That looks like a heck of a bear peloncillo!!

Sounds like some good times with friends. I know how you feel having all your freinds leave of missions, leaving you behind. Good luck on your mission, its hard being away from all those outdoor activities but you'll survive.

This is a pic of me fly fishing up in Idaho. We loved the little streams. I was fishing a BIG cutthroat that I tried to catch for a few weeks. He was right bellow a willow everytime I saw him rise so it was imposible to get a good drift. I did hook him once but he ran strait down stream into a bunch more willows and broke off. One fish I hate to say that was to smart for me to catch.

Put out my trail cam for the first time and had it out for a coupls of weeks. I'm not to sure what was going on, maybe you all have some pointers. I had a total of 175 pics and only one had an animal in it. I had it in the shade and it wasn't pointing to the sun as you can see. Maybe just a cheap camera? Anyway, I was happy to get at least one... its a start. To bad it wasn't a coues though.

I have a Stealth Cam DIGC-XTRV. I figured that It might be all the movement on the grass and such.

I decided to document my finds from over the years and thought I'd share them with you all. I've found others but these are the ones I've kept or haven't tried staining. Here is what I have, minus my elk pickup, few javies, and the ones shot. These are the ones strickly from AZ, the rest I found in Utah. I have found quit a few of these javies over the years but this is the only one I've found noteworthy. I showed it to a biologist and he aged it to be about 14 years old. Some of its molars where completly gone. Its tusks are pretty nice and one got brocken a little ways before it died. Never had it scored. These next two are my "freaks". Not to freaky but all I have. The deer has the growth as you can see and the antelope I took off a doe that was killed by eagles. You can see that a previous horn did not come off before the next one started growing.

Awesome video, thanks Andy.

He is a decent antelope but I don't think he is hudge. While working up in Utah I would see hundereds of anetolpe a day and I would run accross their sheds all the time but I never ran across a head. Finally after months of work I ran accross this one. One horn had come off but was near by and the other one was still on the skull. I found it, along a fence so I would assume that the fence is what killed it. Who knows though. My dog got a hold of it and chewed a bit of the dagger off on one side thoug. It has good curl and good daggers, well it did, overall a good representive antelope.

Quail Hunting Pics
IHunt2live replied to IHunt2live's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Ya, lets hope. Sadly though, monsoon rain is to late for gambles but the scalies and mearns can do fairly well with a good monsoon. -
I don't think that it was a cow. There hasn't been cows up in these parts for years. I'm begining to wonder if it could have been bear. Theres not much bears in the area but we will see one every few years. I feel like a dough head for not looking at the tracks better. I set up my trail cam on a trail not to far away. Looking foward to what I might see, I just have to leave it alone for another couple of weeks.
-
Have any of you seen this before? I ran across this last time I want out and I never have noticed agaves being eaten like this. I'm pretty certian it was coues. To high up for javis and deer tracks at the base of the plant. Would make sence with them being full of water. I figured they eat about two feet of the stock. Pretty fresh to.

My father in law found this set back in the late 70's I believe. The pics don't do them juctice. Believe it or not but this is Not a Kaibab deer, its a desert mulie found down south. They are the bigest set of mulies I've put my hands on. Never had them scored but they are one hack of a set if you ask me. Enjoy

How to fine tune your archery skills
IHunt2live replied to GameHauler's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I helped the BLM with fish sampling on the gila river and we did that electro fishing. The biger fish we be stuned and float to the service but the small fish would jump out of the water to aviod the shock. Thats one way they could have gotten the carp to jump, but from my experience that big of fish wouldn't do that. Not sure if that would be legal either but they are non-native so maybe anything goes? -
I don't belive so but I could have looked closer

Tree Stands or Ground Blinds?
IHunt2live replied to punkrcker1344's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I realy don't have much experience with ether one but I did use a friends "tree lounge" once and I liked it alot. For those of you who use tree stands do you like the fixed or climbing stands? I think I would go with a climber and probable a Tree Lounge. It was very comfortable, even with my bad back, and easy to climb with. -
