    Graduation gift

    Nice!
  2. Took my last final of the semester yesterday and decided to celebrate be looking for some sheds. Not much to share, only found just this one little shed. Some may not agree but I really think it was shed this year. It is white but very solid and there is some skin on the bases. Saw some pigs but the most interesting part of the trip was to hear all the calls of scaled quail. I heard them give this warning call when they first saw me that sounded like a hawk scream, then I could hear them later, what sounded like an attempt to imitate a gambels quart ship call. All this was intermix with the normal call. It was interesting. And a great way to spend a morning.

Five hours of hiking...and for what?

Nope no snakes but a heck of alot of lizards, they made me jump several times as I would see them out of the corner, or bottom, of my eye as they ran from under my feet.

    German Shorthaird Pointer Pups

I'm still waiting on the pedigree's if you dont mind. If you are just looking for a hunting dog I'd pay more attention to the possitive feed back that was posted... Pedigrees don't make a hunting dog.... they only matter if you plan to show or trial.... IMO. +1, I have a brittney, english pointer mix who is out of this world and learned VERY fast. Then i got a GSP with good lines and it took him MUCH longer to get to the point my mut was. This past year was his third year and I finnaly got to the point I could trust him. Now I LOVE hunting them both because they compliment eachother so well and pick up the slack from the other. With the right training most dogs have great potatial, heck I have a freind who trained his springer to point.

    Rocky Input

I know nothing about sheep and very little about the units but have you thought about giving the WMs in those units a call. I know the WM in 27 has gone above his duty in monitoring sheep in his unit.

Dr. Archer had us watch that in RNR 200 last semester. I thought it was interesting

    Need Your Honest Opinions

I like the single cams, no realy reason but its just what I like. I will warn you that I've herd that the wide idler wheels on those PSEs were they don't serve the string in that area, is proned to twisting. thats what I've herd. I have a thunderbolt X with the large idler wheel and no serving on the sting trough the wheel and haven't noticed any sting twist, even with the factory sting. I don't think all factory strings are bad, the problem is inconsistency with a factories strings.

    Yet another Lion

My father in law dropped by the card, same old same old execpt for this lion. Its been a couple of month since the last one, We also have a trail cam set up to take videos and we got all excited about the thought of a lion video but we are still working out the kinks of that camera and the card was filled with limbs blowing before the lion came in. The year is wrong but I beleive the time stamp is right. Thought I would also post this pic that I realy liked. I took it last month and never have gotten around to posting it.

    What camo pattern?

I agree that the open patterns are more suited for our open country areas. I'll also throungh natural gear out there as well. But movement, lack of, is the most importent.

Looking for a new Bow Site

I agree that that G5 site is nice and I've had my eye on it. I've always liked the dial in sites and LOVE the versatility with the fix pins. If I had the money I would be seriously considering the same site

get the kids out ponds where stocked 4/29

Looks like a good fish fry right there. Anyone know how much it costs the G&F to do all the stocking they do vs. how much revenue the get in return? Just wondering.

    Need Your Honest Opinions

My $.2... I like PSE. but it all comes down to what feels the best to you. Me, being a college student, price is a big issue and I feel with mathews you are bying a name and that name holds its value, a lot of people just want the name, probably because the bows are good shooters. But, basicly its not worth the extra money when you are talking about very little difference between the bows. I bought a PSE Tunderbolt X, 1 year old NIB, for $275, and just bought a mach X (2007) never left the shop, for my dad for $200. That Mach X still had price tags on it for $800. But thats just me, if price wasn't an issue I may have a different opinion.

    Late desert Mule Deer hunts?

Yes hunter oppertuity equals more money but thats not why they did it. Remember that survey they had several years ago. the Majority of the public would pefer oppertunity over quality so thats what the are doing, trying to give the MAJORITY what they want. I don't think anyone on this site is part of that majority so many will disagree with me on this but they are a goverment agency trying to do they best they can for the most they can.

    Late desert Mule Deer hunts?

Good point Stanley, unfortunatley most of the units I hunt do not have a WM at all. It's a shame. I guess it's the dept's "opportunity goal" that I don't like at all. I say get rid of all 5000 muley tags and offer 50 that are actually good tags! Your right, we need more WM's out there and I hope to be one of them starting Jan. I agree what has been said about our desert muledeer, They are sure hurting right now and I personaly feel that the last thing they need is more rife hunters on them. Thats easy for me to say though because I love hunting them that time with a bow. If we do hunt them with rifles that will only take away from the archery oppertunity (Maybe an archery DRAW) for the southern units, and I think most of us don't want to see that.

    Good Idea or Not

The way I see it, we MUST do all that we can to get more kids out in the field. I'm not woried in the least about to many birds being shot. I hope they continue to do it in the future and if that means they need to take more tags out of the draw then take more tags out of the draw.

    Unit 27 trip - Updated

I sure could use some R&R right now but will have to wait 4 more weeks till schools out. I'll REALLY need it then. Have a good time.

    HLS

Your right about that. I had a person spit on my truck because, I believe, the PSE bowhunter sticker I have on it. Don't know if they were upset because I'm a hunter or it was another hunter that doesn't like PSE. I of course have a CWT.com sticker on my truck but I find it hard to believe any tree hugger knows what it means.

    Just bugs me

The truth is is that true science is on our side. The only way these nut cases will take away our rights is strickly through political means. Thats why we should all be politacaly involved, even if we hate it, (I sure do). Are you all aware of "The North American Model of Wildlife Conservation". Not sure what group was the spearhead for it but I think the RMEF had a lot to do with it. I believe it got backing by the bush whitehouse. On top of being the model conservation is based on it in a way is also an education program to try to educate the general public on the topic of the importance fo hunting. I got to see the video, made by the RMEF made on the topic, last semester and it was GREAT. If you all get a chance watch it or get a copy, about $15 from RMEF. Here are some links. http://www.rmef.org/NewsandMedia/PubsTV/Bu...res/NAModel.htm http://joomla.wildlife.org/index.php?id=17...t&task=view

    Blue Grouse

That sure looks like it would be fun. Didn't know the G&F was trapping on the Kaibab but I know they have been trapping in Utah for some bird the past couple of years.
