    I know there are a bunch of Dairies / Feed lots in the buckeye area.   Guys post here about the dozens of Eurasians all the time.

    You'd think I was looking for a  looking for a big buck honey hole....LOL

    The youth dove hunt is in the fields next to the caretakers house, which is off limits to adult hunters. This area will have no hunting pressure before the event and a good place to take youth hunters. Especially this year with the drought and lack off available hunting areas due urbanization. Many of the dairies you are referencing do not allow access anymore. Again this is primarily due to houses being too close and homeowners calling the sheriff. There is also one dairy that has closed access because of people littering excessively on the property. Doesn’t matter to me if you take your grandkid to the event or not as I have not affiliation with it. Just sharing info with others that read this public forum and may be interested.

    Most of the dairies in the valley are now surrounded by housing developments and shooting is getting very restricted due to the 1/4 mile rule. Areas I’ve hunted just a few years ago have all been swallowed up by warehouses or HOAs. There is a youth hunt opportunity available for the first weekend that you could take your grandkid to. The registration info is here:

    Scouted a couple days last week. Only found old scrapes and lots of coues deer. About 50 deer in two days, but not a single buck! I found a canyon with water on a north slope and was hoping it was going to be a goldmine, but rain must of been too little to late 😩 The deer were loving that canyon though!

    Got out this morning around 7:30 and the quail were thick as thieves. By 9:00 I had shot my limit but had only bagged 7. I would watch them drop and walk up to the spot, see feathers but like Houdini they just vanished. 


    Kept at it and dropped another 8 by 11:00. I was chasing 6-7 different coveys of 30+ birds. 
     

    Can’t wait to go back this weekend.

    Congrats on your limit! How many total birds did you hit and not retrieve? Were they long shots?

    I fish both the walk-in and upriver often. Back hauling has become very lucrative, so there are many competing outfitters. I’ve seen countless children floating down in canoes and kayaks and do not consider it a dangerous activity. The wind can really screw with you, but you just have to wait it out. 

    Specific to the walk-in, it’s big water and can be frustrating. April and May are usually better than June, July, or August. The fall can be good as well! You need a good set of waders and to be able to effectively wait in position. Most importantly, make sure your flies are in the strike zone. This is the biggest trout river we have in the state and a great place to fish streamers with a sink tip! Spey or roll style casts will keep your back cast out of the bushes. I’ve tried a lot of flies in the river, but an olive crystal bugger always produces. The usual nymph rig works well too, just make sure it’s getting down to where the trout feed!

    And for the SECOND time, I never said ANYTHING about "invasive species".  Typical liberal hack. Keep repeating the lie until you beilive it as fact then use your "fact" as a basis for your defense/attack. Worked well for your liberal leaders!  So sad that an "educated" person can be so naive and gullible.

    Regarding your bold statements and demands, I will answer whatever questions I see fit and am in no way regulated by you in any manner. That being said, I look forward to discussing predator-prey interactions with those who are able to, but realize that we have not really been able to on this thread! 


    I’m going hunting for the weekend and look forward to reading more about the dreaded hybrid canines that are destroying our famed elk herds next week. Shoot straight gents!

    You boys having butt sex? Anyways, the absence of a serious predatory threat has made elk herds too comfortable in areas I have once frequented. Shoot them all boys! I don’t consider man a serious threat to them, because we are not out there every day of the year. Black bear, coyotes, lion, or bobcat do not apply the same predatory forces as a pack of wolves. Please provide fact checked data on the invasive species talk and I will provide a response! Seriously, I’m trying to gain insight into this matter.

    I’m sorry if I confused you, but deer and elk left without the proper predatory influences result in the degradation of riparian areas. For example, the overgrazing of aspen in our forests from elk. We have many study areas in this state to examine it. Have you ever seen the fenced in aspen groves in the Whites? Regarding the link, the full literature/data review is available through that page, but I’ll link the paper. The authors are analyzing the work of dozens of other scientific studies.

    Looks like the diamond dog has a cheerleader. I love the left talk. You have no right to assume my political beliefs nor do I wish to discuss them either. This thread is about wolves and I will continue to attempt to have a fact based discussion relating to wolf reintroduction and ecosystem health.
