    Today's crossbows are accurate as heck. I have 3 different  crossbows.  I have a Horton storm. And a Barnett Whitetail pro str, and now a new Ravin R26. They all are very acurate out to 100 yards. My Barnett is the most acurate . With it a Robinhood shot is common at any yardage up to 100 . I can keep it on a paper plate at 150. But wouldn't trust myself passed 100 at a animal. I pretty much use my crossbow  for every hunt possible

    Are you using raven bolts? And what tip are you shooting ?Target tip? Broadhead? 

    Ive had the same problem. Certain mechanical broadheads will partially open or even fully open in flight . because of the speed of your crossbow. Throwing of the true flight of the bolt. 

    I use Grim reaper Whitetail specials100 grain mechanicals. And they fly true and straight. 

    Also depending on where you hitting the target make a difference. Are you everywhere? If so its most likely your tip.. To high or to low . its the speed adjustment on your scope.  If your scope is like mine. Then you sight it in at 20 yards dead on. Then on your scope there should be a speed setting. Depending on the speed of your bow 350 360 400 etc.. You set your scope to that setting. My bow is supposed to shoot 400 ft. Per second .. IT DOESNT. It shoots 384 with a 400 grain barnett bolt and 100 grain broadhead. I could not sight it dead on at 20. I had to step out to 30 yards. And set my bow to 375 ft per second. Now im about a half inch or less high at 20 but out to a 100 dead on. 

    I never use a target tip to sight in. Always have used the tip i will be hunting with.

    Sure you can . If nothing else hang the head up or conceal it in a bush.

    Where I rifle hunt for bear in 24a . I pull into a spot right on the highway at a bridge crossing.  Walk out on the side along the guard rail and glass the canyon and hillside below . In  30 years my family and myself have killed 11 bears there. Less then a 100 yards off the highway. We actually  had two doubles shooting boars. Back to back in 96 and 97. Almost everytime I drive past there on my way to Safford. I stop and glass for a few minutes.  I spot a bear within minutes most of the time.  There is a steep rocky cliff under the bridge . Almost 3/4 of the way up the cliff is two giant beehives . The honey runs like hot butter down the rocks. The hotter it is the more the honey flows . The bears come to it like kids running  to a ice cream truck.

    Has nothing  to do about a dog or a marine. It's about love and compassion.  Why you cant think that someone cant love a pet the same as a human , family member,wife or your kids just doesn't make since. There are people  on here who are Sharing  very personal feelings . For alot of people  on here there dog may be all they have.  And your answer is take it out and shoot it . Tell me do you eat when your done? Last I checked that's against the law. 

    Your Daughter is the most important and precious  thing in the world to  you. And You should be  very proud of her like you are. What I'm trying to say is . Del you know how that post about marines stabbed you in the gut . Well saying you would just shoot a dog rather then put it down humanly really did the same to me. After losing my family like I did . My dog is all i have. And has saved my life more time then i can count.

    Sorry I probably  do need some mydol right now. It's been a long butt year.

    Del I mean nothing  personal toward You  .
