    Rosemont Mine

I work in the copper mining industry and based on your radical statement above I take great exception to the fact that you are happy that copper prices are falling. I don't quite know how to say it nicely but what a ignorant statement. You should really do some research before you open you mouth to the impact that copper has on the economy of this nation and more importantly the State of Arizona. Whether or not you agree with the Rosemont mine i could care less but when you start talking about being happy about falling copper prices you sir directly affect my lively hood. I am not sure what you do for a living but I sure would not go around hoping that your business would fail. There are many many members of this forum who's living is made mining copper so I'm sure you have not made many friends today. So it's OK for consumers to bear the brunt of high copper prices???? You 'take great exception to the fact that someone is happy copper prices are falling'??? Do you take exception to someone being happy about falling oil/gas prices??? I say let the market dictate the prices.... I am absolutely happy when the price of copper falls! Aren't we all happy when the price of gasoline (oil) falls? What's the difference (other than you happen to make your living off of it...?)? I'm in the credit/money business. Am I happy when the price of money falls? No, but the vast majority of people are.... I don't take exception to it. FYI; The price of ANYTHING falling directly affects someone's livelyhood.... We're all in the same boat. S. PS: My dad was a geologist & mining engineer. I grew-up on copper! Copper put me through college, so please know I don't have anything against the industry.

    Obama OH NO!!!!!!!

Bingo! People can complain, whine, bitch, moan, and cry all they want. The fact is; TWO MONTHS FROM NOW, OBAMA IS OUR PRESIDENT! Venting on this hunting forum is fine, stock-piling ammo is fine, but what will matter is ACTION! Those that feel so strongly that their (our) rights are at risk should get up and do something about it. ANYTHING! Join the NRA! Call a congressman! Call a senator! Put a sign up! Anything will help! We must influence people beyond our own coues whitetail fanatics though! PLEASE go out and take action! S.

    Daughter's first deer!!!

OUTSTANDING!!!!! Way to go!!!! Great story & pics! Sincere congrats to your daughter! I've got three children that are just coming of hunting age. You are absolutely correct that there is NOTHING like being with your child when they hunt. The rewards are far greater than anything I've experienced on any of my own hunts! Best to you & your daughter in the future! S.

  10. Spectacular Hector! Glad you guys had a good time, and thanks for sharing so many great pics! I especially like the 'food presentation' pics! Makes me hungry!!!! LOL S.
  11. Good question Mark! Not sure what will happen either way.... In the latest Chris Rock routine, he has a pretty funny bit about Obama winning. Something to the effect of; 'If you have any meeting, work, ANYTHING scheduled with a black person the day after the election, plan on it NOT happening if Obama wins!'. 'No black people will be getting anything done the day after the election if he wins!'. The bit goes on & on on that theme, and it's pretty funny. Chris Rock is hilarious!! All in good fun, but I suspect he might be right. There will be celebrating BIG time in some areas! LOL S.
  12. I don't care what your political affiliation is, those two are funny as heck!!!! I think they need to bring back Eddie Murphy for a Obama spoof though.... SNL is reaping serious hay off of this season's political environment.... S.

    Mark Your Calendars!!!!

Hey Lance, good choice of weekends IMO! Hopefully by moving from Oct to Dec will get more folks to participate (since most folks won't be hunting....)! I know that I'll be down in 'A' for the early/late hunt the weekend before that. I'll try to scout some garbage while glassing deer!! See ya then! S.
  14. This article caught my eye in the local news. Whoa man! That's a lot of money!!! LOL I suspect that Barak/Biden has spent a few $$ on suits as well... LOL S. http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/200...othes22-on.html

    Noon Siesta or

Sometimes out all day, sometimes not..... Depending on the conditions and the particular hunt.... Most times if hunting right out of camp, I'll spend the morning hours hunting, then come back to camp to fill-up on a big breakfast/brunch. Maybe a little nap, then back-out by early-mid afternoon. Obviously if hunting from a back-pack camp, or far from 'car camp', then I'll just hunt all day. No single 'right way' to do it!!! S.

    You Catch Anything?

I'm with you John! If you'll look at my first post on the topic, I think we definitely agree there. When a non-hunter asks me if I 'caught 'anything or if I 'harvested' anything, I generally just give them the answer that they were looking for as opposed to getting stuck on termanoligy (sp).... My point was that as a hunter, I never purposely try to sugar coat it. If they ask me if I caught anything, I tell them yes or no. If I'm talking amoungst my buddies about hunting though, I just tend to never use the term 'harvest' as it relates to hunting. Seems like that's a term the G&F uses, but my buddies and I always refer to it as a KILL! LOL No big deal.... just differing opinions, which is what makes the world go around! S.

    You Catch Anything?

I gotta say Tucson John; I don't agree with you and/or Casey. When I fish, I catch. When I grow a garden, I harvest. When I hunt, I kill. Harvesting animals??? Huh??? So the idea of harvesting animals may be sound, and I recognize that the G&F uses that term, but when was the last time you and your buddy(s) stood over a dead animal and had someone proclaim 'nice harvest!'? IMO, that is a term reserved for publication.... I use the word KILL when referring to hunting! At the end of the day though, to me it really doesn't matter what other people say (especially non-hunters...) catch, kill, harvest, whatever..... S.

    You Catch Anything?

Yea, I've had folks ask me that way before..... 'What's the proper response?'??? There's not one single proper response IMO.... I generally chalk it up to ingnorance and give them an answer. I know the meaning of what they were asking, whether they worded it right or not doesn't much matter to me. S.

    My 2008 elk hunt

Hey Amanda: Thanks for posting the whole run-down. You spent the entire time up there, so I know that your words only expose a small part of the experience. All good!!!! I really appreciated the chance to spend some time with you (and Chef) in the field. Work & personal life is CRAZY for me right now, and I truly cherish any & all moments in the woods. Sincere thanks for letting me tag along for a couple of days! This post should be an example to all! I spent time with Amanda during the opening weekend, and it quickly became apparent that she was NOT just there to kill an elk. She was soaking-up each & every moment in the woods. This is a woman who truly LOVES being in the outdoors, and LOVES all the outdoors has to offer. Always optimistic and never any malice towards anyone! Kudos to you Amanda!!!!! S.
  24. Myself and a buddy both have the late Nov/Dec tags. We'll likely be camping-out for the opening weekend. Probobly camp along the Botemonte Ranch road, just a 1/2 mile or so from the Arivaca road. Same location that Gabe Paz (WM for 36A) has been hosting the youth camps & ranch clean-ups the past couple of years. You're welcome to join our camp if you would like.... Let me know, S.
