Agreed on the wink emoji (Too much emoji use on my part, in general. Likely the result of years of text exchanges with my daughter… ). That being said, it IS a fact that there are studies. For sure though, the results of the studies are just that; results (not necessarily’facts’…).

+1 on Woody's rain comment. My opinion is that the full moon won't impact watering habits too much. Deer get thirsty and want to drink whether the moon is full or not. They can/will hit the water at any hour of any given day. Side note: The 'full moon' impact on deer activity has been debated SO many times, it seems. Though most hunters would disagree based on their own experience and anecdotal evidence, there have been studies that show the full moon has little/no effect on deer activity during the day. Go sit that water hole with your boy!

Exactly. "Coming back to camp...." and backpacking food options are for sure, two different things. Food looks delicious though, @10Turkeys!

BIG litter!!! Bump for dog lovers! Between my ex and I we have owned 7 Vizslas over the past 20 years or so (currently three between us...). Seems like a lot of folks have their breed, and for us it is definitely Vizslas! Not only great hunters, but also extraordinary family/companion dogs. Kids are grown and out of the house now, else I might be tempted to grab one as a stocking stuffer! 😍 S.

BIG thank you to all veterans (and their families in many cases) for your service and sacrifice! 🙏 Dad getting ready to crawl up into the belly of his B-17, circa summer of 44'. My hero.

Super cool to see coveys of Mearns! Be sure not to start shooting at them until December 1st, though. -
Sounds right, but..... Have him try these guys: 602-942-3000. Not trying to be a smart butt, just really think he should get it right from the department as opposed to from this crowd. (No offence, folks! lol)

Yup..... Like clockwork, another great family post from Elkhunter! 🙄😂 LOVE IT, Tyler!!! S.

Raised running-gunning quail in the washes around Kearny. There might have been a couple killed on the ground. Used my departed dad's old 20 gauge Remington semi-auto with a fixed improved cylinder. Love that little gun for the opening weekend when the quail aren't shy and the flushes are close. -

We shot easy limits of Gambels on opening weekend in our usual spot(s). Predictable given the strong precipitation last winter/spring. Like clockwork... -
Stretched out on my cot in 36C looking up at the stars and moon at this very moment. Freaking beautiful evening out here. Been here since Tuesday. As always, BP is running around but I haven’t spotted any crossers yet. Good luck to all of the early hunters! 👊🏼

Mekong over on SW corner (roughly) of Dobson & Main. Edit: Not sure if you've ever had quail eggs or not but honestly, to me they didn't seem that special at all. Basically tasted like any other egg, to me. Though for presentation in the dish, I guess it was good that they were small.

Actually not that hard. Just like peeling a normal egg, only smaller.

Killed a bunch of quail on opening weekend and ended-up trying something new. (As expected, an outstanding Gambels year based on last winter/spring precipitation. Limits. ) Anyway, my GF is Filipina and suggested some of them get cooked-up Adobo style. Ended-up as a pretty good dish. Nice alternative to my usual grilling. One thing that was a little strange was that she went to the Asian market and picked-up some quail eggs to hard-boil and add. Typical Filipino dish with NO greens! LOL No serving pics but was basically served over white rice, just like All Filipino dishes. Final product F

I'll be there, too. For anyone who wants to see this game, those are some great seats! Good luck with the sale @BlairHunter!!

Pronghorn sliders on Sunday. Home ground with 15% beef fat. Tried them ‘White Castle’ style by smashing them on top of diced onions on the cast iron skillet. Pretty freaking good. 😉 (Was almost done with my last one when I thought to take a pic… LOL)

BIG heck YES!!!! Very awesome, Kevin!!

For no good reason, I haven't done it in years but I LOVE flathead fishing!!! Grew-up in Kearny and hitting the upper end (Salt) of Roosevelt was an annual tradition in the old days. Gotta make it a point to get out next spring/summer!

OUTSTANDING!!!!!! All the better when shared with additional family! S.
