Happens every year. So what....... Yawn...... If the G&F extending the deadline by a day (or maybe more.....) is the worst thing that happens this week, then I'll consider it a VERY good week to be alive! Good luck in the draws everyone! S.

Stuff handed down from parents/grandparents.......
stanley replied to stanley's topic in The Campfire
That's good stuff! My grandfather also came through Ellis Island in the early 1900s! I went on their website and was able to find his signature and details of his arrival on-line, as they have uploaded the records for their archives. Maybe you could find your grandmother's record and signature? Thanks for sharing! S. -
AGFD news Online draw applications are now being accepted
stanley replied to AGFD News's topic in News from Arizona Game and Fish Dept.
I completed on-line applications for myself (and friends on the same app) and my kids for Jr. hunts yesterday morning. All went fine with zero issues! I know some folks don't like the on-line system, I really like the convenience (pre-filled name/address, etc...). Good luck to everyone!!!!! S. -
My amazing hunt - BIG buck - unit 23
stanley replied to jdub's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Great story! Nothing beats hunting with your kids!!!! Awesome adventure for your children! S. -
Plenty of opinions on this topic, so I might as well share mine. I have a LL Bean down mummy bag that my dad bought about 15 years ago. (He gave it to me a few years ago when he and mom were downsizing and thinning-out their stuff.....) Not sure what it is rated to, but it's pretty warm and light at the same time. I also have a nice sturdy Cabela's canvas bag. The down bag used as a liner inside of the canvas bag has NEVER let me down in cold weather. Awesome warm combo! S. PS: I also always pack a couple of wool blankets when car camping in cold weather. A wool blanket draped over the top of the cot does wonders!

Another laugh out loud moment! Baseball fans may remember....... D-backs were playing the Padres a few years ago and Kelly Johnson got punked big-time! The players get to pick their own 'at bat' music (the music they play on the PA when the batter is walking up to the plate.....). Johnson was up to bat and Adam LaRoche pranked him by having the PA guy play "It's Raining Men" as his theme music instead of his normal tune. It was hilarious then, and funny to remember now. S.

"Wait till Putin sees this, he'll go ahead and reclaim eastern Europe." Seriously made me laugh out loud! S.

Will spend this evening with my 90 year old father (and my mom). He served as navigator on a B-17 over Europe in WWII, and definitely is my personal Superman. My family is so blessed that he is still alive today! Prayers to all who have fallen. S.

Snapshot, I definitely agree regarding fodder for the anti-gun nuts! There will be noise and a 'call for action', but I suppose that in the end as has happened afte prior incidents, reasonable heads will prevail and there will be no significant action taken regarding gun control due to this single instance. There will ALWAYS be nut jobs who will kill, which is very unfortunate. Tweeking or even radically changing gun laws will of course have no impact on that fact. S. PS: Desertbull, don't even get me started on the Kardashians! Can't believe how obsessed people get over so called 'celebrity' in this world. Sad......

OK, I just wasn't sure what it had to do with 'coincidence'..... Sounded like you were pointing at some sort of conspiracy theory that someone dreamed-up to keep the VA scandal off of the Sunday morning news shows. S. PS: I was on foxnews.com yesterday morning and they seemed to be reporting the facts the same way. Focusing on the shooting aspect of it....... I had to dig deep to find any mention of the knife killing of his roommates.

If you're into catfishing, the Salt River stretch below the diversion dam can be awesome! Lots of channel cats and plenty of nice flatheads in there too! Good luck! S.

Good seeing you to, Hector. Been too long...... I went to Bianco a just a couple of weeks ago (it is in my hood.....). Absolutely, we should go! Regarding the meeting last night, I thought it was good and informative! It had been quite a while since I had taken the time to participate in that kind of a thing, and I was glad that I went. I as well applaud the G&F team for making the time to show-up and hold a completely open forum. It reminded me of some of the high-level challanges that they deal with as a department and the fact that 'managing game' here in our state is not at all as easy as it sounds. The lack of attendance by 'average joes' was striking. I would really encourage anyone to try to attend going forward, as it really was a great opportunity to ask very direct questions of the highest level of leadership within the department and get strait answers in return. Good stuff! S.

That sounds like a cool idea! Any license requirements that you know of? Think I'll inquire on this when I rent or buy snorkel gear next week! S.
-
Yep, presidents (from both sides of the aisle) have been doing this for decades.......... No surprise here. S.

I've been kind of hiding and out of the loop lately, and hence am not as up to speed on many of the current hot topics. Due to that, I'm not sure if I have much of an opinion to share but I'm definitely going to attend to listen with an open ear! Folks, if you are passionate about ANYTHING related to game in AZ, this is your chance! Try not to miss it. See you there, Hector! S.

Hey TJ, that is an awesome story and awesome pictures! So happy for you, Peg, and Amanda that you got to go down there and enjoy! Looks like you all had an amazing time! Thanks for sharing. S.

I'm flying to Maui next Wednesday for a week at the Westin! Been looking at options for various activities, but I think we're mainly going to just take it pretty easy. Going to rent some scooters and snorkeling gear for the week, take a couple of books, and spend our time exploring the island, beaches, and water...... Definitely looking forward to some TOTAL relaxation! I'll let you know what I find...... S.

LOL!!! I knew the story, Bobby! You are a lucky SOB, indeed! Lucky just to be married to HER, and double lucky that she won the tag! Then triple lucky (with LOTS of days in the field, I know....) to nail that beautiful drop-tine buck! Karma man! You must be living clean!!! Sincere good luck on the banquet! Hope you all make a ton of money! S.

Definitely brings back memories. 69 Bug was what I drove in highschool. Completely stock with pizza-cutter tires and still could NEVER get that thing stuck in a sand wash (Litterally, my friends and I tried many times....)! Amazing sand cars!!! This car should sell fast. Wish I had some extra cash right now! S.

Yes, that is VERY awesome!!! Congrats on the moose tag! I got charged twice (one for me and one for my friend......) for the much smaller deer tag sum! Glad that I'll be up on the mountains of Utah again this fall! S.
-
AWESOME!!!!! Very glad you guys found success! Congrats to Jaycie! S.

My children and I have spent plenty of time camping/hunting in the 36's...... Never had a problem and never felt unsafe. Hoping my little girl gets drawn for one of those junior tags this year! S.

I'm not an expert, but I don't think the standard 'off the shelf' GPS unit would give accuracy within 1 foot. I think they are more like within 15 foot accuracy (or non-accuracy....). Maybe Google the question to see if there are options? Good luck! S.

I have a question, Bobby! Exactly what does it take to become a luckysob???? Tell me your secret and I'll cancel my vacation to Hawaii and come to the banquet! In all seriousness though, every year I tell myself that I'm going to come to your banquet down there! Unfortunately, I'll be out of town again this year. Wish Greta luck in the draws and maybe we'll see you for the junior hunt this fall! Good luck with the banquet! I know it's for a good cause! Stan
