    Volkswagen bug

Could be a fun project card, indeed! I had a 69 bug went in high school. Saved up money bagging groceries and bought a rebuilt 1600cc engine for it. Had a lot of fun tinkering with that car and learning….. Good memories! Good luck with the sale!
  2. I prefer under 100 for my Vizsla. Which isn't a problem because she's so clingy she never roams more than 75 yards out anyway.... LOL

    Monday Check in

Nice stair-climber work. Have gotten around to some of the AZ Trail sections with elevation ups/downs, recently. Did Four Peaks last month and the Huachuca's weekend before last (Miller Peak ain't no joke! 😩). Rincons next weekend. FINALLY starting to feel like my legs are shaping-up. S.

    Anyone else freeze drying?

Ummm….. Thanks! My answer was going to be; FDA? Who’s that?!? LOL

    Anyone else freeze drying?

My nephew bought a big freeze dryer a few years ago, mainly for veggies. He has since partnered with someone in the Route 66 tourist trade and he does freeze dried candy (Skittles, sweet tarts, gummy bears). His partner packs them and has them placed in tourist stops along Route 66. Kids go crazy for them and they’re making a killing. 😂 He assumes the candy fad will pass….

    Proposed hunt guidelines

Am I missing something? Looks like they are proposing an overall drop in number of permits. Some units increased by a few and some decreased by a few, but overall a drop of 875 total. (24B as an example looks like it has same number of permits as last year, I think?) Not saying that some units have what appear to be an overload of permits authorized but seems like it's been that way for quite a while. Ever since they made the 'opportunity' push several years ago.
  8. I am looking for any welders in the Central or East valley for a VERY small job (I have two 1/8 metal plates that I want to weld/tack on to the top posts....). Either professional welder at a shop, or anyone who knows how and can do it at home. Any welders out there? Thanks! S.

Yup! It's all right there. Thanks @twigsnapper!! Here it is again, for those who missed it. If you follow that link, there is a year-over year accounting of the projects and how much money was allocated. Easy-peasy. Habitat Partnership Committee - Arizona Game & Fish Department (azgfd.com)
  10. Cool. Zero time table on it. In fact, I don't even have the parts yet. Just sort of doing some early prospecting. Once I get the two metal plates and posts I'll reach-out and see if we can work something out. Thanks a bunch! S.

SFW and/or ASFW, I think..... Yep, went over about like you described. lol
  12. I did a search here prior to posting and found several references. Thought I would start a new thread, though.... Anyone out there that has taken-on (or is currently taking-on) the AZT?? I've got several friends who have either finished it or are at some stage of progress. I've been intrigued for years and now have a buddy that has committed, so I'm going to go for it! Now that the decision has been made, I find myself a little obsessed. A couple of guys I know that just finished last Fall insisted on doing it from South to North, taking each passage in order (1-43). I'm thinking we'll do each passage hiking north bound but will flex around on dates and locations for completion. Likely will kick-off with an initial expedition in the next couple of weeks, and then maybe try to do a couple of weekends per month after that, depending on availability. Haven't set a goal for completion yet... (I'm an empty-nester with lots of time/freedom, but he's still got a life to tend to... lol) So? Anyone doing it??? S. Arizona Trail - Any Fanatics???

At my age, just time outside enjoying the scenery and comradery is enough of a goal for me.... No less hunting/fishing, just additional time outside.

    Arizona Trail - Any Fanatics???

Point taken..... My buddies who have hiked the whole thing have reminded me several times that we basically started with the flattest/easiest sections (Blue Ridge to GC...). Oh well, they all will be hiked eventually if we're to finish our goal so might as well get our sea-legs on the easy stuff first.

    Arizona Trail - Any Fanatics???

Update for anyone who cares or is hiking the trail; We're about 10 months into it and have completed 15 passages (265 miles). Was sort of hoping to be a little further along at this point, but we basically took the fall and early winter off to chase deer and birds. Last summer we did most of the passages from the Mogollon Rim to the GC South rim (Peaks and Babbit Ranch still left, there...). Doing passages 1 & 2 in a couple of weeks, then Rincons & Redington Pass in late April. That will complete everything from the southern border to the Catalinas. You guys that live in SE AZ sure do have some pretty country to run around in! Still a LONG way to go! Anyone else hiking?? S.

    Scammer alert!!!

I just flagged/deleted the scammer account. This happened to someone else recently, as well. Sneaky and lame. Off to hike a couple of sections of the AZT now. Hope the weekend is quiet, here. S.

    Sold

Eh…. With the list of extras over stock price, I guess I thought it seemed like a fair deal. I guess a car salesman would know better though, so I’ll take your mute word for it. 😂

    Sold Ruger M77 270win - Price reduced

There is another post here titled “Your dream rifle”. THIS is a dream rifle, in my opinion! LOVE the M77’s. (I have bought two M77 30 06’s on this site… 🙄) Don’t need a .270, but bump for what sounds like a sweet rifle! Somebody should snap this thing up! S.

Can you enter draw at 9?

Yes, she can apply for elk/antelope. From page 6 of the regulations (link posted above): "No one under the age of 14 may hunt big game without having completed a Hunter Education Course. No one under age 10 may hunt big game in Arizona. To hunt big game, anyone 10 to 13 years of age must have in their possession a valid combination hunt and fish license, a valid Hunter Education Course completion card, plus any required permit-tags or nonpermit-tags." According the the wording, she cannot hunt big game without a course completion card. I'm assuming she would not get that until the field day is complete. (You can 'pick-up' an OTC tag, but she can't legally hunt without the course completion...) Good luck to her!!!! NOTHING beats hunting with your kids!!!! S

I gotta say that I sorta agree with MogollonMan on this. Internet chat groups can be a great place to banter and share experiences and info, but I personally would never make a borderline decision or go with the interpretations of anonymous dudes on the internet. I would always go directly to the source/AZGFD. (I know, I know.... Folks call there and get varying stories too. lol) 2024-Pronghorn-and-Elk-Hunt-Draw-Information_240105.pdf (amazonaws.com) Reference to age restrictions and info can be found on page 6 and 8. Seems pretty straight forward: Need to be 10 years old to hunt big game (page 6) and 10 years old by application deadline to apply for a bonus point (page 7). I would recommend someone contact G&F to get any clarity. Regarding never being on Facebook, it's basically the same thing here but under a separate wrapper. Internet chatting & banter.... It's all "social media". lol Good luck to ALL kids in the upcoming draw!
