Low ballers are likely just passive browsers who don't mind dropping some money for a screamer deal on something they don't really need or didn't know they wanted. Hopefully soon somebody who is purposely in the market for these will show-up with a fair offer.

    What's for dinner tonight?

Was going to post this over in the 'Green Chili' thread but figured I would put it here instead. One of my favorite times of the year is late August - early September because I can take advantage of my favorite two New Mexican exports; Pronghorn and green chilis!!! Picked-up a big sack of extra hot Hatch chilis from my local Food City and went to work over the weekend roasting them up and putting them to use. Ended-up with 24 8oz jars of green chilis and 12-quart jars of 'green chili' (find the debate on the other thread). Some of the green chili was made with pork and some with pronghorn. Both excelllent!

best steakhouse and pizza in Prescott area

On the contrary, not only do I not mind a hole in the wall atmosphere, I greatly PREFER it!!! Thanks for the tip!
  8. Have always got a big kick out of dove hunting. The old days growing-up were stock tanks out by Florence Junction. Used to be tons of fun, but that was many years ago before population skyrocketed in the east valley. In more recent years, I'm fortunate to have made a good friend/contact years ago who owns dairies, and we'll be back out at one of them again this year. Blessed to have that hunting opportunity. Good luck to all!

"...... 200,000 acres, hunting opportunities should not be significantly impacted." Ummmm...... That is a seriously 'glass half full' view point from G&F, considering it looks like the majority of the high elevation east side was torched big time!! πŸ™„ I'm scheduled to hike about 35 miles of the AZT that goes right through that east side, the first weekend of Oct (assuming the burned section is opened back up by then). Will be curious to get a boots on the ground view of the post-fire landscape.

Where is the 'east/west' divider?? If it is the 67 highway, then yikes! According to the latest Watch Duty data, it looks like that entire side got torched. Watch Duty - Wildfire Maps & Alerts

    Sea sickness

I'm cursed with motion sickness, too. For planes and cars, a double/triple dose of Dramamine works for me. As for offshore fishing, I figured out long ago that I just can't partake. Never heard of a prescription. Maybe try Wildwoody's suggestion and check that out. Good luck!

Watch Duty - Wildfire Maps & Alerts This Watch Duty gives a pretty good map. If you set the overlay to 'satellite', you can see the scar from the last big burn many years ago. Looks like the fire had a hard time advancing through the jungle of small aspen trees. Saw some green spots up there on this morning's weather report. Hopefully finally getting some precipitation.

Ugh..... Looking like virtually the entire East side, at least, is going to burn. Looking at satellite overlay on watchduty.org, and you can see the burn scar from the last big fires. Appears to be ready to overtake that area, again. Thankful for prevailing West winds?? Looks like that might be the only thing keeping it from running over the entire plateau, at this point.

+1 You went one further and said what I was sort of thinking.... AI sucks as a source because it really isn't a source.

Interesting..... The blog post from a wildlife conservation non-profit doesn't exactly support your claim regarding 'many different animals suffocating....' and it happening 'often'. I Googled too, and can't really find anything solid that supports that the theory is widespread. Here's an article that gives sort of a broad summary of how fires in general, impact wildlife. Appears the more significant impact generally comes in the form of habitat destruction and regeneration (or not).... Seems like in the past, the Kiabab herd has been pretty resilient. Hoping for the same result here.... How Does Wildfire Impact Wildlife and Forests? | U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Either way, I'm praying for monsoon rain!!!!!!

Cite your source regarding that specific animal behavior during forest fires, and specifically animals suffocating at night due to lack of oxygen? Have never heard that before..... On one hand this fire absolutely sucks. That lodge and the plateau in general, was/is spectacular! (Hope they build the lodge back, including bringing back Brightie!!!) As mentioned, it sucks for this year's hunters and hikers, too. That being said, forest fires DO happen, and the long-term result is usually positive. Seems like a lot of nice bucks and bulls have been killed in burn scars over the years. S.

Man, that fire appears to be really raging! REALLY need a good monsoon drenching up there so badly, right now!!! Looks like that's basically the only thing that will have a chance of beating that thing down. Praying for some big/robust monsoon cells (NOT dry lightning) ASAP!!

    12A White Sage Fire

89A back open! 67 and Kiabab NF still closed, though. One step at a time.... πŸ‘

    12A White Sage Fire

Ya, I've been watching the containment closely. Containment or out completely, the Kiabab National Forest still needs to make a decision to open, though. The current order states norther district of KBNF closed through September, so hopefully that was just them over-shooting to give themselves enough time to deal with it all. Hopefully once the fire(s) are out and if some decent monsoon moisture finally comes, they will re-open sooner than the current order states.

    12A White Sage Fire

Curious who's still watching this. My AZ Trail hiking partners and I are completely finished, with the exception of the four most norther passages that go from the GNP boundary north to the Utah border. The trail roughly parallels 67 right through the Kiabab forest. We had this weekend planned for two of the sections and were going to finish the final two in mid-September. I had originally figured that once 89A was reopened, we could then get it done. Like a dumb-dumb though, I hadn't considered the closure of the KB forest separate of the highway closures. Turns-out the northern district of the Kiabab forest is closed THROUGH September (unless said otherwise...). So, no AZ Trail finish for us in the next couple of months, as we had planned. Made me think again of the archery guys. A real drag! Kaibab National Forest | White Sage Fire Temporary Closure for Public Health and Safety | Forest Service Thoughts for those directly impacted by this (like the Jacob Lake Inn and other business, plus the GNP lodge impact), and gratitude to the fire fighters involved in the effort to control/contain! Alien Donkey Pics & Videos

Reminds me of a story from my brother. Growing up in Kearny WAY back in the mid-70s, my older brother had a job bussing tables at the GKI (local motel & restaurant). Some mining executive was visiting town from back east and saw 'chimichanga' on the menu, and asked what it was. My brother told him it was a fried burro. The guy apparently exclaimed; 'You guys eat those out here????'!! 🀣 Side note: Since when did everyone start calling them 'burritos'?? They were always burros where I came from.

    What's for dinner tonight?

Yup, I'm 60 with a sense of humor that ranges from about 14 years old to 20ish. Get my old buddies and I together on a golf course or around a fire at hunting/fishing camp and it's high school & college all over again.

    What's for dinner tonight?

Ya, I'm I'm probably about as old as your dad, I'm guessing..... I've done a couple of smoked Thanksgiving turkeys over the years. I picked that Brinkmann up at a yard sale for $5 almost 30 years ago. GF tells me to get one of them fancy-shmancy Traegers, but this old thing works just fine.
