I was looking at those a lot too. After doing all the math for getting gear with a new muzzy it seems a little expensive for me now. I'll still probably go with the cva optima first just to learn and do a few hunts. But then if I feel it nessesary after a few times I'll make the switch the the Paramount or whenever seems to be better at that time frame!

I was looking online and I am going to be picking up some blackhorn 209 tomorrow from basspro because they have it in store! I am gonna go buy 2 things of it so I can have about 60 shots worth to practice and maybe that'll hold me over till elk season. The tag I am looking at is super easy to draw. I put in for late bull first and then the late cow which both got awesome success rates

Gotcha. I think imma just get a few different types and mess around with them when I buy a muzzy. Is it okay to order powder online and send it to my house. Or is there legalities with shipping anything with gun powder?

    Muzzleloader information for beginners

I think imma order an optima. Imma still spend the extra for BH209 though. Seems like a better way to go. I am willing to spend extra to get a good shot and kill too. I went to sportsmens to check them out a bit ago. I wanted to get the one with the thumb hole in the stock. Also what would be better? The 28 in or 26? Or is it more of how it feels when I shoulder the gun? I also wanna know if the scope it comes with is good too. If not what kinda scopes do you like. Anything around the 200 yard range is gonna be a good shot for me after doing more research now too. Any bullet recommendations too? I keep finding stuff about the barnes 290. But what about the power belts or Hornady? Thank you

Gotcha! I was just reading too that the UML would need a special breach plug to even shoot the Blackhorn 209 also. I've seen most people recommend the BH209, but I haven't done any research into the triple7 so I'll be sure to check that out. For bullets I was looking at the Barnes 209 grain. I think they are called TEX or something like that. I'll check out some other setups people use for the optima. Thank you very much for the advice! 150-200 seems pretty good though!

    2023 Buffalo

Russ is awesome. Do tye co-op hunt. It's free. You are by yourself the whole time. But you meet with other hunters and kinda work together on who goes where. No spots are really better than others. Especially now that you can't use cams they don't really know how often bison come off that park border. But he will help you and all other tag holders. Also will help a ton when you tag a bison too! Great group of people!

    Crossbow Question

I had a similar injury in my right shoulder about 4 years ago from wrestling. I was able to get to 55 a little less than a year later in 2020 and now I am at 70 with no problems and can shoot all day with no issues now. Take the healing process super slow and it'll benefit a ton. I had to bring my bow back down to 25 the first few outings with the therepists permission. My dad rushed to recovery with a back injury at 47 years old. He tried doing yard work and archery a month after surgery in his spine and he regrets it. You gotta baby it and it'll pay off for the rest of your life

    Opportunity VS Trophy Hunts

I know it's super early to be asking about elk hunting with all the season wrapping up but I had a few questions. I am going to be scouting a few units this week because I am interested in some late season tags but I also love hunting the rut in September with my friends and family. What do you guys tend to perfer? How all do you guys wait for 10+ years it seems like for these tags? I was thinking of putting in eventually for the early archery hunt in 7E or the late archery in 23. But I don't wanna waste my points if it's bad. I guess the main question is would you guys rather wait a long time for a good tag. Or do you guys like to go out on a harder hunt season or unit every couple years and really learn the ropes? Thank you

    Azgfd fall regs

Last few years has been the end of December. But I remember last year they had issues with unit 10 and the boquillas. I'm sure that might be why it's late this year. They put the booklet out too early last year
